Thanks for showing us how to do it simple. Not all of us have a router, joiner, planer or any kind of fancy tools. You even do it on the floor. No vice's or clamps. I look forward to more. Keep it up.
You don't have all that stuff? well you haven't been selling enough body parts lol Seriously though you're right that#s how they did it in the old days; power tools just make things quicker easier and with less effort....allegedly.
I made the coffee table from your video and now making 2 bar stools. I just love how easy you make it to follow. Others could take a lesson on "how to" videos. THIS is how you do it! Thanks!
I'm choosing your vids because I'm not buying a lot of expensive tools until I decide whether I really like making things myself. Thank you for simplicity and quiet.
I used this simple stool as the basis for a shop stool for my workshop. My butt isn't as skinny as y'all's so I widened the seat a tad. For strength I made the seat out of 2x6's instead of 1x8's and joined them with pocket screws so as to practice that skill. Since it's for my shop I'll paint instead of stain it. Nice, simple design and it was easy to put together.
You guys are great your videos are crisp your builds are cool. NOW STOP SCREWING INTO END-GRAIN! Use pocket hole joinery guys who are watching. If you want to screw into end-grain that's great use it just as a clamp for glue. And when you glue up pre-fill that in green with glue. What I mean is apply glue wait for it to soak into the end grain and apply some more until it stops sucking it up. Imagine end-grain being a handful of straws. You try to stick a screw in there you just stuck in ornament that is meant to pull out into your end grain but if you pre fill that in end grain with glue and then screw into it, the screws act like a clamp and the glue has nowhere to go but to create a strong bond. This is not meant to be hating so don't take it as such just trying to make sure people are building furniture that lasts for generations
The little dog always makes an appearance in their videos. He's a cute little puppy! Thanks guys for sharing your talents, it's simple and you can choose the quality of wood you use.
I just wanted to let you know that I watched your barn door for $40 video several times and today my neighbors and I built two barn doors exactly the way you did I went and bought the hardware from Home Depot and placed it in my man cave, it is excellent thank you so much.
Holy cow! Here is the solution I've been looking for! I am planning to make these soon. I created a bar out of a stock lowes workbench and have been struggling to find the right stools. I will be able to make perfectly matching stools that nest beneath. And all of your sizes work for me! I wish the store was open all night because I'd be making a 1am run to buy wood. Lol
I made two of these this weekend to go under a pub table I made last week. For the price, they are perfect. Not the best, but definitely not the worst and each one was actually UNDER $20 because I bought 2x6's and ripped them down to 2x3's myself. Also, I added pocket holes for a little more steadiness. Thanks again for the idea and plans. It is about the 5th thing in my home from you guys!
very simple and easy design. I do worry about using trim screws to hold this together. Also, no wood glue? I will follow this design but will use pocket hole screws with wood glue for added strength.
That looks great and it seems simple. I'm gonna try it. I've been trying to do one with angles and it's just coming out right. Thanks again and I'll keep you guys posted on now mine comes out. If you have an easy way to make picture frames please post it. Carl a 79 year old novice wood worker.
I made one today (10/25/18). I have one more to make tomorrow. Nice easy method. My local home depot doesn't carry trim head screws so I had to use regular screws that were left over from the bench project. I just drilled them in pretty deep and then covered it up. Thank you both very much for these tutorials. I for one am definitely using them.
Made 3 of these stools but out of cherry to match a pub table I had as a commission. Customer loved the set I added an extra set of stretchers up high tho.just for looks.
So I just made this today for my wife as a sort of early birthday present. Took me about an hour and a half to get to the staining. I don’t have a miter saw so I had to use my circular saw. It turned out pretty good for my very first DIY project. It looks awesome. Thank you for posting this and making it easy to follow.
GOOD JOB! Well done video-you made it look simple and easy to build; which speaks well of your woodworking ability. I thought the music was kind of annoying but it’s your video-your choice. 👍🏻
I love how you guys build this stuff with common tools that most everyone has available. I can't stand seeing video titles that say “$100 workbench" then they're using thousands of dollars of equipment like metal lathes, jointers, planers, band saws, and drill presses.
Fantastic project as usual guys! Well thought out and easy to follow instructions, you guys really need your own tv show 😊😊 Massive fan of you both all the way from England, keep up the great work and happy new year to you both
Hallooo, I was happy, very happy for this bar stool, i made it my self in white, it was easy to make, i follow the steps and i get two very nice bar stool
One of the best Reference guide for woodworking. ru-vid.comUgkxcZqgZ8Ynkiz5n_LxIWRlAicuzmz5kCHG Focuses more on the manual took style of wood working then how to use more modern power tools. However the information is incredibly in depth and provides great help. Has a whole section devoted to wood types and has projects in the back
Hi I love your vids very easy to follow along with I made one of your kitchen islands it turned out great. I would like to make 2 of these and maybe some with back rests. Any suggestion for adding a backrest to these or would it have to be a completely different stool?
You might want to use longer screws as they will only penetrate half an inch into the second timber. Hence the comments about it being wobbly. Good work though
