I am building a 20x30 shop and its time to frame a window. This is a very basic 24x36 inch window. The rough opening allows for 1/2" extra on each side so the window can be adjusted as need be. To frame a window you need two king studs along the side of the window. Next you need two Jack studs that go from the bottom plate to the window sill. Jack studs go along the window to hold up the top double header. This double header is comprised of two 2x4's sandwiched together. Lastly the Jack studs continue up to the top plate.
