Never thought to make the deadmen look like a decorative piece...Always thought to hide them. Gonna use this on my retaining wall.

This was a super cool video! I'm currently building a timber retaining wall along one side of my driveway, and will tie in the end of the retaining wall to a culvert wall!

Looks good! I’ve learned that you could use a hammer drill for driving the rebar. I have two driveway entrances at which I will be doing something extremely similar.

Glad to hear! There are some other wood carving disks for grinders out there for bowls that I want to check out also. They don't have the chainsaw blade on the end and seem a little safer. Might work great also for when you're doing that cope cut on moulding.

Great video Chris. I have a culvert on the back of my land that I want to build retaining walls but nothing as intricate as yours but your video gave some nice ideas for a culvert in have at entrance of my property. Excellent work and have a Merry Christmas, Chris. I gave a full-watch of your video. In fact, I watched it twice 😊. New Subscriber!

Thank you! It's been 2 years since I did the project and I'm glad that I had the time and funds to do it myself back then. You should be able to do a much simpler retaining wall by keeping it straight. I wanted to widen it and make it symmetrical to the existing slabs so it complicated things a bit. Merry Christmas to you too!

Those cuts in the deadman are great untill the start to rot.... it takes alot longer to rot a 6x6 than a 2x6 as you cut both sides but great wall 👍

Hi sir did you consider shuttering and concrete , here in the Uk sleepers would not last very long in that situation . I assume you have access to more resilient timber than we do, even oak would probably fail with our climate . Best wishes and kind regards. 😀👍👍👍

Amazing work! How long did the project take? I am considering going this route over concrete sloped ends, for a large development. However my job is very time sensitive & I am not sure if this would be efficient or not.
@adrenalineguy
@adrenalineguy 2 года назад
Thanks! I didn't log my time, I took off work for several weeks and improvised and designed along the way with the retaining walls and pavers. The retaining walls went faster than the pavers but still took my a few days per side working alone. I tend to overthink and over-engineer though.

Wood (even treated wood) buried up in the ground in a waterway? How long do you realistically expect that will last?
@adrenalineguy
@adrenalineguy 3 года назад
It's a ditch, so it doesn't stay wet...with the ground contact treated posts we get here on the coast, it should be there for 10-15 years, maybe more. It's been there for almost 3 years so far and still solid. It will last longer than I'll be living here, that's what matters to me.

Thanks, it actually was not a hammer drill, it was an impact wrench to drive the lag bolts.
