Loved the design! It's so nice that when the chair is moved back, and the table put away, you have a really nice open space at the door. Very well thought out design. Smart to take 2 years to get it exactly how you need it!!

Thank you! ❤ We really like how the table turned out. We also like that the space there is so open even though that means less storage. We were going to put a cabinet there that would overlap the slider opening like so many people do but we often remark about how crowded we would feel. We'd have to shimmy past each other every time we needed to get around!

Great table guys! Funny, about a month we went to home depot with the same idea. We bought the pvc pipe, galvanized pipe and the base for the table. But we couldn't figure out where to mount it. Now we do! Thank you for enlightening us. Great job! Lanny and Roxanne AdVANtures

@@SteveAudra I probably would have gone with a Lagun table but after seeing yours I will have my husband build it. I did see many videos of different placements but I like where you placed yours as I have the passenger seat that swivels too. I think I will modify your design a little bit so I can swing the table outside for cooking outdoors. I can see that it will be very functional. New subscriber from Vegas.

Functional and looks great! Perfect combination. Nicely done you two. When we make a table (someday I hope since we picked up a Lagun mount over a year ago on Offer up) I'd like to incorporate a built in cribbage board since we play a lot when we camp. Not sure how to keep food and debris out of the holes yet 🤔. I like the size of your table. Large enough for your needs, but not too big to store away in transit. Of course the pantomime eating was my favorite part. Love your sense of humor.
@SteveAudra
@SteveAudra 2 года назад
Thanks again! Hmmmm.... Could you make a table that could be flipped? Cribbage board on one side and regular table on the other side? Or maybe a smaller game board that could slide over the main tabletop? Leave it to Steve to come up with the funny! He started at the eating pantomime, so I just followed along! 😆

Nice job with the table. I think the color turned out great. Have you guys seen the structural pipe and fittings. I know they can be found at Lowe's. I used that material to build a rack for my pickup. Looking forward to seeing the table in use in future videos.

@clintstinytrailerconversio5560
Hi Steve and Audra. I think this is what I will build for my truck camper, actually a Harker EDC that I have added cabinets, etc. I wonder why you went with 1" pipe? Do you think 3/4" or even 1/2" would work. Of course the PVC would also be smaller for a tight fit. What do you think?
@SteveAudra
@SteveAudra Год назад
That's cool to hear about your project! We've seen other people use thinner pipe than we used but when Steve went to Home Depot to look at options, the smaller sized pipes didn't seem to fit any of the PVC pipe options well. The other consideration would be the size and weight of your table. A thinner pipe might not be sufficient unless you plan to do a smaller table.
@kreate-adventures9957
@kreate-adventures9957 4 месяца назад
Awesome idea. Does the PVC pipe need to be that long? Would it not work as well if the PVC was the same length as the pipe? Keennto hear your thoughts.
@SteveAudra
@SteveAudra 4 месяца назад
Hello! We made the PVC pipe that long because of the location of the existing holes in that part of the van. We secured the pipe at the top and bottom using bolts that fit those existing threaded holes because we try to avoid creating new holes. You could probably do a shorter pipe if you wanted to drill new holes.
@danw128
@danw128 Год назад
Great video! Have you figured out a way to lock the table in place so it doesn’t spin? Thanks
@SteveAudra
@SteveAudra Год назад
Thanks so much! Spinning really isn't an issue. If we're both working at it with our computers, it wobbles up and down a bit. We've been content just to support it with our knees if we need to and have thought if it was annoying enough, we could just cut a piece to prop under for additional stability. Steve thinks it's really not an issue. I notice it a bit. It's worked pretty well for us though, and when we tested out a Lagun table, it seemed there was some wiggle or play with that as well.
@danw128
@danw128 Год назад
@@SteveAudra I was thinking a small hole and ring pin or lynch pin. Easily used when needed and removed when not needed. Thanks for the response.

Ok so I built almost the exact Table in my van. 1" galvanized, pvc, ... exact. Except my vertical galvanized pipe goes all the way to the floor inside my pvc tube (not just a few inches like yours). I have a problem in that my table doesn't want to sit level. I think know now it may be because the vertical pipe is too heavy for the unit or something like that. I''ve been searching for a way to rework the table because I really like it- slant and all. Thanks for this I'll let you know if your design works for me.
@SteveAudra
@SteveAudra 2 года назад
Hey Michele, thanks for the note. So far so good with our design. We made a slight modification to our table set up since this video. Everything remains the same except that we cut the length of the PVC pipe almost in half (the slider door bumper was hitting the PVC pipe ever so slightly and messing up the paint). We installed a wood support piece under the PVC pipe to insure that it stays in place. Hopefully we'll show this in greater detail in a upcoming van tour video.

OK, I'm going to try this. How large did you make the table top? Is it still working well for you? Thanks.
@SteveAudra
@SteveAudra 6 месяцев назад
Hi Heather! 😊 The table is 21.5"x30.5". Because of how we travel we don't use the table too often but it works pretty well. I think I'd recommend making it a little smaller.

Great ideas, looking to do the same thing. How do you store it when driving? Do you leave it in like that? I am assuming you have to screw it and unscrew it every time you want to use it…?
@SteveAudra
@SteveAudra Год назад
Thanks so much! We store the tabletop under our mattress and the pipe base under the passenger seat. Yes, we screw it on each time. Overall, it's works pretty well!

How much weight can this setup take? 1x16x36 board for food prep and or run a standard 2 burner gas camping stove.
@SteveAudra
@SteveAudra 2 года назад
We would not try cooking on the table, but it should be fine for food prep. We think it's important to be mindful about the amount of weight you put on it. If we both work on ours with our laptops at the same time, we might even use some sort of extra support such as something propped up under it.

As someone who has used both Lagun and EZ-Reach tables I have serious doubts about the durability of the PVC leg. How has it held up? How do you lock it down when traveling? Overtime has your swingarm started to sag? I'm here because both Lagun and EZ-Reach have issues with long term use for a computer workarea, looking for other options.
@SteveAudra
@SteveAudra 6 месяцев назад
The PVC leg is secured to a piece of wood. We've had no problem with the setup and our friends who have Lagun tables say they like ours better. We don't lock it down when traveling. We put the table top and pipe (swing arm) attachment away. There's a little give in the table when we're working but it doesn't bother us. It's been like that since the start, but we also have a pretty large table top.
