Actually just finished building my step pyramid ... I believe the floorplan was 32 x 32 or 34 x 34. Took me a week of intensive gathering and building. Sadly I placed a bonfire in the center and it doesn't cover the corners :-P Made some small pyramids on the corners as well. Could show some screenshots or get you on our server if you want to have alook. Now I need to move all my stuff inside, make the crafting station, do some decoration ...

You can also offset your foundations to half-height by using foundation > half stone wall > floor > and then attach the foundation to the height of the floor. Remove the half wall and floor and fill in with foundation. This allows you to create a slightly more complex designs using height.
