Thanks Jacob for the video. I know cost may vary by location, current market, and quality of work but it will be nice to throw in some estimates. I believe that will be helpful to some of us.
Ahaaa our problem clients only interested in profit margins forgetting your expertise time and labour and not considering the edifice which will certainly gain value over time Any serious property owner should be willing to pay value for money (thus pros to watch your back surely with your eyes wide open if you can the full set) unless it's probono anything less expect a shoddy job and theft Resulting in building collapse huge maintenance cost huge running cost
@@mjc9388 thank you for your contribution. In my thinking, I have also realised that our precious Ghana is only 63 years young. We need to development better standards across the board. Good craftsmanship does exist. JUST VERY DIFFICULT TO FIND THATS ALL. Thank you again 😀
@@filmfreek35 This is why people do not want to build. How can you plan/budget to build when you do not know what you are getting into? Everyone understands that you work for profit and livelihood but if the interest is to make this as opaque as possible because of “supernormal” profits then some of us cannot work with you. Best.
@@euniceackwerh134 I just returned from Ghana today. Iron rods surprisingly has increased in value by 40%. I wish I had the money to buy materials in bulk to safeguard against inflation.
Thanks as usual brother, You really provide expert information as always. I really am learning a lot about the process that I can use in the future. OR just be aware of when I start building. Who knows I may call you your company Thanks again
Why didnt you use iron rods before casting the foundation?, because even with a single storey house and with the soil being dry, you will still get movement which can result in cracks in the wall at a later stage. Thank you.
This is a different project from the earlier one. Different projects require different forms of engineering. The land in this area is completely dry and solid so there is no need for us to use the damp proof membrane for the foundation.
Another amazing video. At 08:45 on the timeline, it shows that the foundation is not square to the boundary wall. Has this been done on purpose please?
The boundary wall you see in the video was done long before we came unto the project. The people that constructed the wall did a terrible job and was one of the reasons why this particular client came to us to build for them. If you look closely at the wall, you would notice that some parts of it have collapsed and it was because it was not done properly. Our engineers advised that instead of reconstructing the wall, we should rather reinforce and manage it till we finish the building project then we reconstruct the wall according to the design the client has in mind
What type of foundation is it called. Raft or. Pile asking cuz am about to start a project in Nigeria and am ask to do pile foundation and I really don't know which one it's
In the process of casting the foundation, there was a bit of an incident that resulted in the pipes that were laid by the plumber being damaged in that area. We had to proceed with the casting and leave that section so that when the issue was resolved we go back and cast that section and that is what we did. Issues like that are the reason why we always have engineers on site at each stage checking and making sure that in case stuff like that happen, it doesn't affect and disrupt the work flow of work and cause long term structural damages to the building.
@@kennykross3306, that's not an answer to my question, but an answer to your insecurities. No one is casting stones, just trying to understand. When you have a more intelligent and informative answer, come back.
Renting an excavator for a day cost anywhere between 1500gh to 2500gh. Some of these include transportation others don't. The location also counts when renting an excavator so you are more likely to spend more than 2000gh on renting per day. On the other hand, with manual human labour, we can spend between 500gh to 1000gh for the whole excavation process. This amount can also go down further if you can negotiate well with the labourers
@@nobs997 you also have to look at the cost of living. You will not pay them the same as the west. If your living in a wooden structure, which 90% of labourers are, they dont pay rent. They determine the wages for the day. If you wanted to pay them less than they demand, you wouldnt be able to continue with the project because they wouldnt work. They are certaintly not slaves.
It depends on the number of units you want to build. If you want to build one or two units, you can manage on 1 plot of land. More units mean more plots
@@Jacobwestgh probably am used to a different way construction but the story buildings are have seen here, n the land preparation that goes into the foundation is way way grounded in the earth than what am seeing. The trenches n beams look shallow to me.
