Finally, an actual diy standing desk build! Every other video i’ve found is just people buying a frame, or entire desk, and calling it DIY since they had to assemble it. Ive been playing around with a similar design in my head, but seeing yours gave me some good ideas, and kind of solved some problems I wasnt too sure about, particularly dealing with the variable distance of the actuators, which you solved by keeping that little gap.

Man I love this video! It makes me so happy to see people making things for themselves and putting information out into the world. I came here because I want to make an adjustable-height strong back for building a canoe. I think I was able to learn from your approach, so I am very grateful.

Great video, easy to follow, and love the problem solving that is clearly explained; I'm designing something similar and didn't think of leaving the actuator end floating. I also love that true DIY look at the end. Thanks for publishing this, and keep up the good work.

It's a really amazing guide - basic materials, basic tools, BUT a couple of excellent ideas implemented and lots of room for improvement by using more advanced tools / materials if necessary. I've especially appreciated the idea of static bottom position - it allows to use the table for more heavy duty works when bottomed out (probably). I plan to use this guide to build my home workbench. I'll probably go for 4 legs + T-Slot. Thanks a lot for this excellent tutorial!

You obviously put a lot of thought in to this design. Nice job! I bought an off-the-shelf sit-stand desk frame with electric actuator - no top - from staples in Canada - $299 (that's about $220 US). I had a scrap of 3/4" ply to make a 20"x 48" desktop. That's maybe $20. Total build time = 1hour. with finish., Cost $235 US in 2022, and no screw holes in the top. I used to think my free time wasn't important, but as you get older you realize time is the greatest cost.

Great stuff! I love the idea for using the drawer slides, that is key for me. I have a very old steel desk that is a lot smaller than most, but still a lot heavier than just a table top. I want to put a lift on that one, would be awesome. I'm thinking of a scissor lift type of system, but just gathering all the ideas I can find right now. So far, this was the best (true) DIY standing desk video I've come across.

I have to say that the way you work and how much of your life is DIY is absolutely beautiful, people seem to just go buy things and not build them exactly how they want or need. Being from a family of DIY'ers it's always weird when people ask me how I fixed this or that or how I learned to do things and I always say I just do them... heck for my daughter's 3rd-grade science far she built a solar-powered desk fan out 4 solar power sets of led Christmas lights cut and soldered together (wired up 1.25v to 5v) and soldered into a DIY USB board and now you can plug anything USB (the fan was to show the project working). I am so very grateful for people like you that show how easy it can be to JUST DO IT. I am 100% positive you make your father proud seeing the knowledge he has passed to you being used in the ways you do it.

I remember using actuators a lot to make amp racks that slide out. I love what you're doing here EXO! Everyone needs a break from the normal grind. This is a great way to do it and when you are so smart! Just don't lose sight of what your audience is here for we all support you but we love car audio and love seeing you do it! Believe me, we know you're intelligent obviously look at this video! We also love and appreciate you. Thanks for doing this. Remember everyone, these are 12 volt actuators so think of all you can do in vehicles with different sizes of these!

Recommended is some protection from metal objects (or small fingers) going into the power supply. They are designed for industrial use or inside an enclosure so there are live parts just behind the ventilation slots...
