Interesting upgrade. However the only diaphragm pump pump I've had fail either in the 89 or the 93 both of which were brought new and I still own, was because it set for 2 weeks in northern Canada while I was Snowmobiling at constant -40 (maybe less) and where the rod was swaged to the diaphragm washers shrunk in the cold and pulled through the washers. Also note that on another trip, upon returning from the cross country snowmobile trip, my Dodge was the only truck that would start on it's own without being plugged in or pushed in the the shed at the hotel to be warmed up first

Right on Rob.. Those stupid old diaphragm pumps were always a week spot on carbureted cars. Holley replacement in tank electric fuel pumps add great reliability

You helped me out over a year ago with the 973 spring in the pump, plus I might have drilled out the plunger holes slightly. Appreciate your content as always man. Keep it up

I had a 14mm VE,that I tried feeding with a stock piston pump from a 7100 engine, that pushed fuel past the drive shaft seal on the front and filled the crankcase,...I then installed an adjustable air dog...the pump eventually failed on me unfortunately cause of my own wrongdoing probably...but anyway,...great content as always feller...catch ya on the next one 👍👍👊

I'm blown away at how much a certain shop in Utah charges for a piston lift pump with a 973-1 spring in it.

For the black diesel delete the stock mechanical pump & upgrade to an electric fuel pump. Reason being is that when ur running thicker fuels you will find more spots for air intrusion where airs getting into ur system. Plus since the fuel is thicker the stock fuel pump isn’t enough to pull the fuel from the tank. It also makes bleeding air a breeze when u gotta change filters. These mechanical pumps if they fail can leak fuel into the crankcase. If one happened to be running the truck on stuff that should never see the crankcase like vegetable oil or atf ur doin ur engine & IP a favor to upgrade.

Pretty interesting. I appreciate your videos greatly. 30yrs ago, I wrenched for a living at a speed shop. I fell out of tune with it and moved onto other trades. My passion for speed never faded, it just got moved to the rears. As years have passed, I watched the performance diesel industry expand. With that comes my 6.7l hybrid desire. Just a quick question, how much HP will a big bore piston pump support. I may want to build a 5.9 12v someday......

Hey Rob I have a V pump on my 91.5 and but I also have a Hamilton cams hat see I don’t have my fuel filter in stock location anymore I have a second GEN fuel filter set up on earth mounted just like a second GEN truck would be I wonder if a guy can use a flex line so I’ll be easier to get that pump hooked up to to my truck anyway this is six in a row jim From Kennerdell Pennsylvania

I have a 12 v 5.9 from a 1995 school bus , 121,000 miles , tag says 230 hp at 2300 rpm , if I replace the lift pump while its out should I replace the pump with the big spring one , or just leave it alone, all we’re doing is a reseal and kdp its going into a 1995 f350 service truck ,

I have a Cummins B3.9l engine in a 2004 Lull telehandler. I just started having throttle response issues. As I just bought it used I started I presumed lift pump and filter issues. Pulled the Wix 33358 fuel filter and saw it was rusted internally so replaced it. Couldn't get the lift pump to prime so thinking about replacing. A direct replacement is very expensive. But I saw mid-90s Dodge Cummins diesel pump that looked exactly the same being just $60. Will they work with my B engine?

I looked on your website for a low pressure pump (kit with gaskets, spacer etc) and couldn't find it, are you selling these kits? If not, where is a good place in canada to find them? thanks

How can I identify if I have a large or small bore pump so I know which springs to buy? Is there a measurement for the bore I can take? Or is everything that's not OEM Cummins a small bore? Thank you.

Yep. Or the seal in the first of the ve is leaking
