Never seen someone do so, but Artoria is a prime example of an Oath of Ancients Paladin. She and Excalibur are empowered by the Faeries and sworn to serve the mission given to her by Avalon. Ancient Paladins even get spell resistantance like Artoria.
She should also probably be a draconic bloodline Sorcerer considering that Merlin created her with dragons blood. I guess the infinite mana supply from her mana core could be replicated by coffee locking?
I should probably mention that invisible air isn’t something inherit to Excalibur. That is something that Artoria has herself that was given as a gift after she lost Avalon, the sword sheathe to Excalibur.

Right. Invisible Air isn't a property of Excalibur. It's a separate spell/enchantment that she uses to hide it so that she doesn't immediately give away her identity whenever she uses it.
Okay, I know that this was supposed to be balanced for D&D so it was obviously made with that in mind, but it is funny to me that Saber has B rank charisma, which by the stats in Fate/ puts her explicitly at 40 times as charismatic as a normal person.
Her stats across the board would be ridiculously high by D&D standards even when she was still alive at the very least. Including even a few of her hax, she has the heart of a dragon which gives her nearly unlimited mana generation which in D&D terms is kinda like passively regenerating spell slots or sorcery points over time.
@@CrowAkechi_The_Luminary Even an E-rank attribute puts you above the peak of natural human ability and simply having a skill at all regardless of its rank means you have a talent beyond human ability. For example: even the lowliest caster would have superior strength to a human that isn't enhanced with magic and even an E-rank charisma would put even the most talented natural leaders to shame.
@@CrowAkechi_The_Luminary Probably cuz edgy and also the fact the Saber Alter isn't depicted as weak. I don't think Artoria ever has a moment in animation where she just lets loose and kicks ass. Her biggest feats are in the Extella games, which nobody plays, nor do we actually get to see in cutscenes, nor is she part of the main cast.

Some interesting saber facts Saber while she was alive had 4 noble phantasms Caliburn the sword in the stone, Excalibur the sword of promised victory, Avalon the strongest defensive noble phantasm, and Rhongomyinid the lance at the end of the world. Excalibur has 13 seals on it to limit its power which was able to kill Sefar a god slaying giant. Saber while she was alive was much stronger than she was as a servant not only because of her other phantasms but because she has something called a mana reactor inside of her which basically supplies her with infinite mana unlike her servant self who needs her master to supply her. Saber has a book about her life called Garden of Avalon. Mordred’s birth is ambiguous but it’s implied that they were born when Morgan Saber’s sister and sworn enemy put Saber in a trance and Gr@ped her getting pregnant with artificial seed meant for Saber’s wife Guinevere.
Noble Phantasm isn't quite the right term as that specifically refers to a power a servant manifests based on their legend. More that she had 4 different Artifacts powerful and important enough to become Noble Phantasm. Same as how Unlimited Blade Works technically isn't a Noble Phantasm.
I'm not actually sure about claiming that Artoria is stronger as a person because a lot of her power as a Servant comes from her Mana Burst ability, which afaik is specifically a Servant ability like Protection From Arrows. I'm pretty sure that in life Cu didn't have the ability to just stop projectiles from hitting him as a passive boost. Essentially, Saber as a human has a lot of mana but probably lacked the ability to use it to its fullest extent probably being limited to something like a high level Reinforcement that would put her as a human on the level of an E rank servant (which should be clarified is still pretty insane), but Saber as a Servant could theoretically bring every swing of her sword to the level of an A rank attack with enough Mana. Saber's Mana Reactor would probably be most useful for powering her weapons. And to be fair, unlimited usage of something able to cut Cthulhu in half from half a city away would be tempting even if it results in the loss of Mana Burst.
@@KahavaveCAPIPI So, this gets into one of the (many) weird parts of Fate. The Saber who appears in Fate/Stay Night and Fate/Zero? That's her in her physical body. So unlike other Servants who are closer to embodiments of their legends, that's King Arthur as she existed in Britain in Nasuverse. There's some weirdness in her summoning in the fifth grail war that makes her unable to effectively utilize that mana reactor for most of the war, but she still has it. I really don't get why Nasu wrote Saber to be physically present unlike other Servants, though given his inconsistency with regards to Arcueid's body temperature in Tsukihime*, I suspect he just wanted the boinkable heroine to be as human as possible during the "plot critical" scenes.
@@KahavaveCAPIPI He's right, Artoria as a person is stronger than her servant version, not only she has access to a variety of weapons, such as Rhongomyniad, Avalon, Clarent and Secace, she also doesn't depend on someone else for mana. Also Saber was capable of using mana busrt as a person, you're underestimating Artoria's magical output, her mana reactor is literally that of a dragon, a species known to generate magical energy by simply breathing and it is said that her core was capable or generating enough magical energy to rival the heat of the planet's core.
Try build the First Hassan, a holy warrior with heavy armor with abilities of stealth, teleports and loves decapitation (a vorpal sword might work for the last part)
If you like d&d and you like fate, I recommend the game "fate lost continuum" it's basically d&d 7 masters who fight all against all and the dm controls the servants and npcs. One of the best role-playing experiences I've ever had.
I should probably mention a couple of things about Saber's lore. But she can technically pass an Artificial human with a draconic bloodline because she has the core of the red dragon in her body that Merlin put there. She inherits the will of the Red Dragon, which is one of the Children of Albion who is essentially the Dragon that forms Great Briton when it dies with its corpse. Saber's sword Excalibur is made by Fairies in Fate and is enhanced with the life force of the planet itself.

Loved the build and video. I have several recommendations, though: 1) HEXBLADE WARLOCK LEVELS: It's unlikely that a DM would let you have a Sun weapon right out the gate. This way you get a magical weapon of great significance early, and can focus completely on Charisma rather than Strength. Which tracks, since Saber still has the body of a waif-ish young woman, and her strength is magical in nature. If you do find a Sun weapon later on, you can make it your Hex/Pact Weapon and reap its benefits. 2) GREATSWORD, NOT LONGSWORD: I would classify Excalibur as a greatsword, it's almost as long as Saber is tall. 3) SORCERER INSTEAD OF ROGUE LEVELS: I cannot get behind giving Saber any Rogue levels, it's too contrary to her character and there's nothing in that class that's indispensable to her arsenal. Divine Soul Sorcerer* levels, however, would give her very in-character features**, higher-level spell slots to Divine Smite with, and access to very useful spells. Misty Step to represent the bursts of speed she and other Servants demonstrate in the anime; Spider Climb so she can run up buildings like in the Fate route's fight against Rider; and Water Walk so she can fight on water like in Fate/Zero. 4) SPELL RESISTANCE: Oath of the Crown is definitely fitting and Spirit Guardians is an amazing spell, but I would recommend Oath of the Ancients as an alternative, given King Arthur's fae connections and the 7th-level feature that grants resistance to ALL spell damage. Which is 100% a non-negotiable part of her arsenal that becomes a plot point many times. The Oath spells and Channel Divinity options may not be as in-character, but they can be ignored. 5) SABER ALTER: For this version, I would switch her subclass from Oath of the Ancients to something else. It would cause her to lose her spell resistance, much like she does in the VN when she gets corrupted. Oath of Conquest would perfectly embody the paralyzing fear she inspires (the VN even describes her as a tyrannical version of herself), but Oath of Vengeance is also advisable. *With Sorcerer levels, she can use Quickened Spell to cast those game-changing spells and still attack on the same turn. **Favored by the Gods would represent the strange luck that allowed her to partially avoid Lancer's Gae Bolg and Assassin's Tsubame Gaeshi. I'm very sorry for the long post, I tried my best to make it as easy to read as possible. I hope this can be helpful to someone.
I personally from my understanding of Saber Alter sees her as more combat oriented version of saber, Oath of Conquest is likely the best but for multi classing I think taking 4 levels of barbarian and fighter, the barb subclass can be debated but I think battle master for fighter is the best option. Since you can still smite while raging and utilize battle master maneuvers it’s likely you’ll do good damage that way, resist damage, and still have utility.
I mean her strength isn't purely magical as she has the core of a dragon in her. And not just any Dragon but the Red Dragon, child of Albion. The only reason she looks like a 16 year old still is because of Avalon preventing her aging and development.

A fun feat for any rogue, especially if they are a Frontline fighter of any kind is Blade mastery to give a few benefits. If you have a sword like a rapier or even as stated a longsword, it adds +1 to attacks on top of everything else. You can use your reaction for a parrying stance to add a +1 to AC, though you're already hard to hit but the next piece is the best one. If you swing for an opportunity attack, you have advantage on the attack. Meaning sneak attack also comes online.
the big issue with this feat is just that it is from a very old unearthed arcana, all the way back in 2016, and was never fully released. Most tables wont allow it, though it'd be fun if they did
Im actually working on a fate series homebrew that includes magi classes and all the servant classes plus paths ive been coming up with. Plus ive included directions and guidelines to create your own heroic spirit; so ive made it educational as well since you would be doing research into the figure, legend or myth your wanting to use. Also, i do have your channel listed as a reference in my project as you have helped me out with some ideas of my own and I love a lot of the builds you've done so far. Whenever I get it done, i will gladly email you a copy. Im currently working on archer class right now and gathering the references for the varied magi classes im doing and for the fate magic system im wanting to create. But I'm loving Saber's build here. But may i suggest summoned armor for Saber since you can take off and don the armor as a free action?
@cross4084 thank you! I have been working on this for two years now. Just life has hindered me to dedicating a lot of time to it. I'm combining elements from 4e and 5e but also creating new rules to reflect the roles between Master and Servant; I've also am including Servant Skills, original Noble Phantasms, Magecraft for a Magi to reflect the various types in the FATE series and a compendium for reference of everything including programs used, RU-vid channels, websites, the whole nine yards. Also? I'm looking into incorporating the ranking system used as well for bonuses and also bonuses between players as the holy grail war is technically a team effort. So if players are paired together with different mindsets and such? You can have varying effects during game play and story telling. To put it in a visual image? If I do it how I want to? It could be as thick as the "Lord of the Rings" book trilogy and possibly as much detail lol. I want this to not be the final product but I want others to add to it for future games. I have dubbed this project (even wrote it down in it) "my labor of love". The wiki is a big help but I'm using cherrytree for organizing and other various portable applications so I can take it wherever I go. I'm also going to start running campaigns at a local game place run by a classmate of mine so I will actually have a new generation as my play testers. Plus World of Darkness games like Werewolf, Vampire the Masquerade, Exalted, etc. I'm really dedicated to this and there are a lot of people who have helped inspire me in ways and I'm hoping to bring a bigger audience to them as well so as to continue the gaming traditions of our time.

And of course I am sharing with the public even as I write out the project because someone might see something or think of something that I may not. I am wanting to distribute it in various formats to include PDF, RTF, and even CHM. I want to make this as available to the world as possible to not only bring new players to the game but also to pay homage to the FATE series and those who worked on it and create it but also to expand on the legacy of dungeons and dragons as a whole. The Invisible Air is an ability Artoria uses to hide Excalibur. In a battle were info on the other servants' abilities and weapons are important to winning the war anyone taking one look at Excalibur will know she's King Arthur.
Must resist urge to make a lightsaber joke (lets face it the sunblade is based on a lightsaber), nat one in history to even know who it is nat 20 on insight to predict paladin just by appearances and the King Arthur inspiration
I will say I think the invisibility of Excalibur is actually a replacement sheath for Avalon that allows it to do that, at least the first and last time I checked on that.
More or less. It is a magic spell that hides the true form of the sword because otherwise, anybody would guess who Saber is. 20 years later it's irrelevant on a narrative standpoint though lol
Invisible Air being a Noble Phantasm or not has changed throughout the years. It originally was, and I'm fairly certain it is right now, but it hasn't always been so.
@@dndbuilds In that case this really should have been used for Mordred or an Artoria Alter build. You could legitimately make alternate builds for different versions of her. I'd say living Artoria would have draconic bloodline sorcerer and coffee lock to represent her mana factory. None of the other versions of her servant versions have this so it would be unique. Artoria lancer could be a mounted build with Divine Soul levels.

Gigguk's video is fine, but all you really need to know about Fate is that it's like DC or Marvel - you don't need to know the entire history of DC or Marvel, just that it has superheroes and each superhero has their own story. The basics of Fate is Masters, Servants, and Holy Grail War, and each have their own story.
The fate seires is confusing depending on how you look at it Lemme say it like this The fate seires is split off into mutliple different seires with different (and old) characters (Also her sword isnt invisble she covers her sword in air so it simply appears that way, its so she can hide her true idenity from other servants)
rougue isn't something i'd do for an artoria build since she's literally honor bound by excalibur to "fight fair". I would do Hexblade warlock for the cha bonus to attacks. Artoria does have a high charisma from being a former king.
Yeah I probably agree, I just wanted a bit more battle tactics in there with the capabilities of a rogue, and I felt like the paladin hex blade multi-class was a bit overdone so I wanted to throw in a twist
Swashbuckler Multiclass. I never considered that because I usually avoid building around a specific item and would have gone with a Hexblade Pact of the Blade to get around the STR issues. Well-played.
I totally agree, usually I wouldn't but Excalibur is such a massive part of the legend, so I thought it felt a bit more ok to build around. This was a fun one.
excaliobur isnt rly invisible, they have a spell to make it that image, because no one know who is the wielder , in fates series if you know who is your enemy is more easy beat it
I have a character suggestion to tey looking into Menou/Flarette from the Exicutioner And Her Way of Life, a sort of Swashbuckler/Arcane Trickster and Cleric hybrid... or something like that? She seems like an interesting build.

You should do a zenitsu build with nine levels in wizard bladesinger nine levels in rogue scout and two levels in sorcerer draconic blood line with a feat for meta magic initiate it’s an amazing build and I want to see you make a video on it
I mean she is a dragon kin. She does have the dragon trait. It's why pretty much no magic from mankind can even touch her and she has a magical reactor for a soul.
But Saber is not reborn, she's the exception to the normal Servant. She's literally just herself yanked forward in time. Pretty sure just normal human for her
How would I build a Plague doctor character in DnD? I've read some character builds, some people suggest Rogue/Artificer multi-class, some have suggested Cleric(Life, Grave or Death Domain)/Druid(circle of spores) multi-class, and others have said just do a Way of Mercy Monk. What would you recommend?

Just in case i will tell some things about saber cause you seem to have some small misunderstandings. Saber isn't exactly human. She is a human-dragon hybrid. Invisible air is her own power not part of the sword, saber is more agile than she is strong, she is durable too so having a high armour class is okay, she has a high ranking charisma skill in game which makes it even a small persuasion ability. She is stated by mordred to have beast like instinct that border on predicting the future. Seems like you base her more around her servant self, so she doesn't really have any healing capabilities as that, since she had avalon for that during her life. The only healing would come from being a servant but that's something all of them gain and works by supplying mana to make their spirit based body fix itself. She isn't immune to poison so picking it is kind of eh, but she should be to disease as well as be ageless, not sure if the immune to diseas applies to her while she was living but the agelessness did. She herself stated that her body stopped changing once she pulled the sword out of the stone. Her fighting style focuses pretty much on her superior speed and strength to overwhelm her opnents combined with wind attacks from invisible air. All of her artifacts also have the restrain of the round table on them which is a set of very specific conditions she has to fullfil for the power of those artifacts to work. It's pretty much impossible to hit them all so it's more stacked weakening then anything. To put in mind hiw specific they are one is the fight musn't be against faeries. The battle must be an honorable one, the fight must be one against evil, one's comrades in arm must be courageous etc.while she doesn't have to fullfil them if she does it makes her stronger so that puts more of an idea on how she has to fight. By far my biggest problem with this build is the complete disregard for invisible air which is one of her main abilities
Funny you give her higher Charisma with her mental stats in the Fate series she has an ability called Charisma [B] which is decent in that skill so that works in the funniest way
I know propably someone already made a joke about this, but ima say it anyways: requesting the 2/3 demi god who IS the rules, gilgamesh. I at the very least think he'd be a hella cool concept for another fate D&D build.
The only seasons of Fate directly Connected are Fate/Zero which goes into the 3 different routes Fate/Stay Night routes which are their own times lines so not connected to each other just taking place in the same place and time with the same people but going differently. Fate/Apocrypha takes place as an alternative timeline to Fate/Zero where the main method to start the grail war and summon servants was stolen by the Yggdmillenia in the 1930s. Fate/Grand order is it’s won thing with an alternative 5th holy grail war in its history it’s plot has nothing to do with the holy grail war at all. Fate/Extra/Extella, takes place on the moon in the future of the year 3000 you don’t need to bother with it unless you play the Fate/Extra game first on handheld Sony consoles.
I'm a avid player of 3.5 of dnd and its nice to see him explain almost every traits and 5e things of dnd, but my question for you is, is it possible to maybe do a series of redoing your most favorite anime characters but rendered down to the 3.5e builds?
