How to build Kirito from Sword Art Online in Dungeons & Dragons

In early SAO, Starburst Stream is Kirito's signature special ability as a dual wielder, and its 16 attacks total... so this build is basically perfect at 18th level. Hitting 20th gives him that extra boost on top as well.

My only critique is that the feat Fighting Initiate: Superior Technique is inferior to Martial Adept. They both give you one d6 superiority die, but Martial Adept gives you two Maneuvers instead of one.

I rolled a Nat 20 on my Insight check and I was able to see that Guts is the better black knight.

An Asuna build would be fun, especially if you can get them to strategically play off each other in a fight. Always thought bladesinger wizard, but battlemaster fighter and valor bard might fit as well.

I actually really like this build. I didn't know what to go for as a subclass myself, but I guess it depends on which part of SAO you go for. In this case, you went for the very beginning. Speaking of which, I personally enjoy SAO, up until Alicization. At that point, I felt the creators just wanted to keep the anime going and just bring in side girl number 4.

Love the build, but I might want to rearrange the stats a bit so I can, at some point, take a couple levels of paladin. Why? First because Kirito's glowing swords fairly *SCREAM* "radiant damage," and second because I get the idea that the very first time I tell my DM, "I make 20 attacks," he will lose his mind and spontaneously transform into a gibbering mouther. In fact, even 12 attacks might do that ... 🤣

I don't have much D&D knowledge, but I like the video. That being said, I'd like to provide an alternative interpretation of the character: Rather than being a martial artist first and foremost, Kirito was actually highly intelligent and perceptive to the point where he was frequently mistaken to be older than he actually is (14 when SAO launched, 16 when it ended). This intelligence and perceptiveness served as the basis for his abilities; rather then training from the ground up, he built himself piece-by-piece based on his increasingly deeper knowledge of VRMMO mechanics, from the most obvious down the most obscure and subtle. The rest is down to building his in-game stats and pure practice + training. He became totally immersed in the VRMMO world, to the point where he actually adjusted his most casual motions to be more efficient under the pseudo-physics of the virtual world. His greatest fear is to have other people be killed by his decisions, which is what informed him to go down the route of the solo player in the first place. He purposely isolated himself from most interpersonal contact in order to avoid confronting his fears. However, his fears were ultimately realized in the Moonlit Black Cats, which he joined because his isolation was wearing on him emotionally. The suffering he underwent nearly broke him, but he did recover to a degree. Though on rare occasions "break character" so-to-speak, he largely devoted himself to becoming the strongest entity in Aincrad and only made the bare minimum interactions with other players; he wasn't content to simply be stronger than any other player, he wanted to push himself so far that he could overcome any obstacle he could encounter. Because of his isolation, he could maintain an *absolutely unholy* grinding and practicing schedule aimed to raise his stats and his skill as a player in every way he could conceive of. I'm curious if you'd change your build of Kirito at all based on this interpretation of him, which I'll admit is based much more on the LNs.

honestly, i would have made kirito a single sword duelist rather than a dual wielder. yes, he does have the ability to use two swords but its clear that he prefered one. he didnt use his second sword in season one till he had to, and once he did people kinda expected him to continue. but going into the gun arc and beyond he repeatedly chose a single blade, only using two when he absolutely had to.

Fairly straightforward just like Kirito. I personally loved SAO seasons 1 and 2. Nothing beyond that exists. Lol

I like the Idea of him being a Swords Bard with two levels of Paladin and Rouge (Using Rapiers Instead of Longswords, because Finesse). Taking Vicious Mockery to channel SAO Abridged, the best version of the show

Idk why but I always saw Kirito as a blade singer wizard because of his glowing swords or a battle master fighter 😅 my second guess was for what you'd make him be was close As always I'm glad to be a fan of yours and your channel is really underrated, in my opinion, and I'm looking forward to seeing you reach the minimum requirement to be considered a g*d in D&D like other D&D content creators 😊

Good build!! Been looking for a decent DW fighter build inspired in Kirito.

I did a build like this once of Fighter Samurai 15/ Barbarian 5 because of how mad he gets sometimes. He could do 11 attacks in one turn which is fitting because Mother’s Rosario(Asuna’s Skill she got from Yuuki) was 11 hits. Math for the attacks: Main hand: 4 Action Surge: 4 Off Hand: 2 (some DM’s let action surge give a bonus action too) if you have advantage you can forgo it for the 11th attack. Then if you are flanking a creature you have advantage on all but one of those attacks and you can just reckless attack to get advantage on that one too

I'd like to see Asuna next.

I have been looking all over the internet for a Overhaul/Kai Chisaki build for dnd but I have found nothing and I feel like it would be interesting to see how you'd build it

I rolled a nat 20 in insight to realize I'm never going to buy that VR, and in general roll a nat 1 one for VR because it makes me vomit

A solid build, albeit instead of +2 dex and medium armor mastery, I would have gone for Defensive Duelist for ability as reaction raise AC vs one specific attack (and fits on Kirito's style as in his stats in SOA sheet lists 'Parry' as an actual skill). Now for another ability increase or feat, I would lean towards Observant (raising wisdom) cause he is quite keen on observing things that are above average. But a bit optimizer could turn +2 Str into two sub-feats; Slasher and Athlete/Skill Expert instead. But otherwise agree on the build in making the ultimate dual-wielder, in my own table I house rule dual-wielder feat provides means to do off-hand attack without bonus action (once per attack action) so it does not take bonus action.

Is there a reason you used Fighting Initiate: Superior Technique over the Martial Adept Feat. It would have given you an extra Battle Master Maneuver that could be used for Commander's Strike.

So I’m wondering how he does the 20 attacks. You can only action surge once on a turn. Even with 4 attacks, the bonus 4 for action surge, the additional attack from rapid attack, and offhand attack that adds up to 10 attacks total. How are you doubling it? I will delete this if I find out how.

It 10 Attacks aren`t OP enough, find any Weapon that gives you life back even with only 1 per Attack

Or just use second wind when dying instead of the final attack.

Where's the overpowered because he was a beta tester so he got to play the game early. So that his level was hiring then starting players. But doesn't he also fix it at the end of season 1 where you reset his score back 20 so him and his friends retake the 100 floor challenge.😅😅😅 I mean I know he wanted to have fun all over again with his friends but I would have kept my stats

Bro 10 attacks is almost exactly the skill that asuna gets that kirito wasn’t able to get 😂. This is kirito in a universe where he beat yuuki. Not that he can’t do way too many attacks at a time anyway

I really liked the first two seasons, but never watched past the second half of season 2.

You realise that the whole point is that Kirito is the fastest Person in the entire game right? 14 dex. yep. I understand the mechanics of the game tell you that gym bros hit more frequently than proper martial artists, But my Dude you have this insane focus on str. there are /// well there were ways around needing at least 14str in 3.5. I don't know how badly One D&D has nerfed the Int of Gamers.

If you like SAO, do yourself a favor and watch the abridged series. So much better imo
