I have a irobot verro 500 pool cleaner. I've had it for 6 years and I bought it used. It moved across the base of the floor then stopped. I turned it off and back on, no movement. I see bubbles from the machine and can hear the machine on when I pull it from the water. Do I need to replace one of the belts? I move the foam pad and the belts seem to move like it should. If I vacuum dead algae with my irobot, does it actually suck it up or does it float in the water before it can suck it up? The reason I am asking is because I see the same grit on my steps and in shallow end, in the same area later that afternoon.

Question; I have been doing some research on robotic cleaners and came across your very helpful video. I have an in ground pool and thought after watching that the Explorer E3 would do the job needed, then I came across Proteus DX4 and was wondering if you have any comments on that model or maybe what some of the differences are between them?
@HallmarkPoolSupplies
@HallmarkPoolSupplies Год назад
Maytronics makes over 70 plus cleaners, it can be a bit confusing when searching for a cleaner. Both the Proteus dx4 and the Explorer 30 are good cleaners and have similar features. You would be happy with either cleaner, however the Explorer series is the newer series and is priced better. As a dealer I only carry the M series, E series and the S series but I have access to other cleaners they sell. If you want another cleaner just let me know and I will be glad to help. Thanks for watching.

The main difference here is that the DX line is made by Maytronics specifically for Leslie's Pool Supplies. If you look at the Maytronics Dolphin models, they do a Lot of different model names, but simply change the color schemes. I have a DX4 and it is the same as the E30, just a different color. There are also other Dolphin units with the same internals and features, but different names for different sales outlets.

Hey Mark, first like to say thank you for all information about own pool. As first time pool owner I really appreciate your knowledge on maintaining pool. I watched your video on E10 robot pool cleaner that you recommended for above pool. I have in ground pool would you recommend that for my pool? Or what would you recommend??

The E30 is a really nice cleaner for the price. I have all the cleaners to include the E30 linked down below in the description of this video. Thanks for watching.

I have a structural support ledge about 8 inches below the water line, all around my fiberglass pool. Will any of these units be able to climb over the ledge and still scrub the water line? Can any of them climb and clean steps and a splash deck?
@HallmarkPoolSupplies
@HallmarkPoolSupplies Год назад
Robotic cleaners do not clean the steps nor a splash deck, you can brush the steps and the splash deck down before using the cleaner and the unit will do the rest. These cleaners will go over safety ledges if this is what you are referring to. If not, I would have to see a picture of the ledge you are talking about. If you would like to email some pictures of your pool I will be glad to help you select the unit that is right for your pool. Our email is on our website. Thanks for watching.

Question…… I recently bought a very nice Cordless Pool Cleaner . Really liked it a lot. Very happy with it …….except…. it would get stuck on the newly required pool drain covers. The manufacturer didn’t offer any type of remedy for a solid fix so I had no choice but to pack it up and send it back. Do you ever recommend drain skirts to lessen the “hump” affect ?
@HallmarkPoolSupplies
@HallmarkPoolSupplies Год назад
It depends on the cleaner you have, they do make a bumper that fits on the drain so your cleaner does not get stuck. The Explorer line cleaners by dolphin will go over the drain with no problem and does not require a skirt or bumper. Let me know if you have any other questions and I will be glad to help. Thanks for watching.

Maytronics has been making these pool bots for decades. They know what they are doing. I would recommend this brand over pretty much every other brand out there. The house we live in came with 2 older units. One was a Dolphin and the other was a different brand that I don't remember right now. The Dolphin ran longer and scrubbed the walls. The other unit also had 2 brushes, but did not do as good on the walls or water line, and the run time was only about an hour and unfortunately it would only cover a smaller area, so every time it stopped, I would have to lift it out of the water and throw it in the other end of the pool. When the older Dolphin finally broke down and I could no longer find parts, I went to the store and purchased a Polaris. The new Polaris would not scrub as well, nor would it seem to suck up larger leaves etc., as compared to the older Dolphin, even though the inlet ports were the same size. So I returned it and bought the Dolphin, even though I had to wait a few weeks for it to arrive.

@@HallmarkPoolSupplies I had a Dolphin DX4 many years ago, and it would constantly get hung up on the pool drains. It would spin around in circles for sometimes up to 10 minutes before finally freeing itself. When it died, I went to the M400, as the M400 has a center brush on the bottom and NEVER got stuck on the drains. However, it's now in the shop and I'm awaiting repair costs to decide whether to repair or replace. Maybe it's just me, but I'm not sure I can trust a robot that doesn't have a middle brush on the bottom? (To describe how my DX4 would get hung up on the drains, it would happen if the robot went over the drain with the drain centered between the treads on the robot...it would get high centered). Is this still a potential issue with the newer Maytronics robots?

For some cleaners yes, these cleaners will have no problem going over the drain. Let me know if you have any other questions and I will be glad to help. Thanks for watching.

Enjoying your videos. I bit the bullet and paid$2K for E70. However, I cannot get this robot to climb the wall and clean water line. It gets to that 90 point and spend the tracks for a few then retreat to the bottom.

There are different settings, however if this is not the issue make sure your filter basket is clean. If you still have a problem you can contact Maytronics and they will be able to help. Thanks for watching.

See, when I was a kid, our vacuum would work all night and day, it would get twigs stuck in once in a while, but that was the worst of it. No chords, just hook it up to the pump. Why make them electric?? Just seem like it’s gonna cause problems/ make it more expensive. We had that regular vacuum for years if not over a decade, how are these better than that?
@HallmarkPoolSupplies
@HallmarkPoolSupplies Год назад
These robotic cleaners run on DC current, (power box converts 110V to DC current) making them very energy efficient to operate. Some cleaners use a separate pump to operate which costs more and some cleaners use the existing pump on the pool which does not allow the pool to skim while vacuuming. Theses cleaners will run with the pool on or off and they don’t put all the dirt into the filter keeping your filter cleaner and more efficient. There is nothing wrong with suction or pressure cleaners, even the ones that have bags that prevent dirt from going into the filter however these units use filter baskets which last much longer than the bags. Today robotic cleaners are the more sought after units. Thanks for watching.

Pump cleaners also don't clean the waterline or tile. Also, i hated cleaning out the bag of debris... baskets are way easier.

The reviews on Amazon are not great for any of these cleaners except the E70, which is $2000 and even the E70 is not great reviewed, only 4 out of 5 stars. For that kind of money I need a product with 5 stars or close to it.
