This chemistry video tutorial explains how to calculate the percent yield, actual yield and theoretical yield of a product produced in a chemical reaction given the mass in grams of the reactants. This video includes stoichiometry practice problems with limiting reagents and excess reactants. Most examples in this video involves a gram to gram stoichiometry conversion.

Iron reacts with oxygen to form iron(III) oxide according to the chemical equation below. What is the theoretical yield of product when 5.00 grams of Fe react with excess O2? [Molar masses: Fe, 55.85 g/mol; O, 16.00g/mol] 4Fe(s) + 3O2(g) → 2Fe2O3(s) how can i solve this question

Does theoretical yield always have to be higher than the actual yield? Or there might be an exception?
@perfectionist.
@perfectionist. Год назад
from what i understand, the theoretical yield is the maximum possible mass of a product that can be made in a chemical reaction. so no, the actual yield cannot be higher.

Actual yield is less than theoretical yield at all times? Or there might be an exception?
@benjaminraymundo6711
@benjaminraymundo6711 2 года назад
Nah it’s always less because you can’t go over 100% efficient. It’s like filling a pool and adding more water but it overflows and doesn’t do anything.
