Cool to have some insight in these procedures, even when you're not a pilot but just an aviation enthusiast like me :) This is a good example that safety is taken very seriously and makes people relaxed about going on a plane. Hurray for BalticAAA ! (And Pranas of course) ;)

I'm afraid you are not correct with the gray bar show in 6:15. You said that we cannot use FLEX 66 in 6:36, referring to a wrong cell in the takeoff chart. That bar in 66°C means that this temperature is above TMAX (54 C in this case). TMAX is the maximum OAT for takeoff, not the maximum assumed temperature, which is TFLEX MAX. The VMC grey bar is a bar that can be shown near the TOW. When it appears, it means that the speeds are near the minimum control one. Refer to FCOM!

As the actual declared weight is inbetween two rows you need to do interpolation of values for precise results.
@balazstoth96

In this case the pilots follow the QRH and usually do a low pass over the runway, while the ATC from the TWR checks if the gear is lowered or not (if it is but the announciator light is still red, the light has the failure and they can land safely). After that the pilots carry out another approach and land normally (if all gears are down) or they try to extend the gear manually (by pulling a lever, not by using hydraulics) or do an emergency landing with the remaining gears as the QRH says.

That's why there are takeoff field limit weight calculations. With every correction (slope, wind, dry/wet rwy, anti ice) calculated it results for a given rwy lenght, what is the greatest takeoff weight the aircraft can takeoff with in the given conditions for the runway.

I guess the primary limitation is breaks performance (energy they are able to absorb in case of take off rejection), and the runway length is not a variable of the calculation, but rather the result. if the runway would be too short, then you would need to take away some weight. am I right?

where can i find this tables, can i download that? what is the headwind exactly or how can i find it out if i have a head or tailwind? example wind 280° 15kts what is that then?
@schachtelhd4449
@schachtelhd4449 9 лет назад
Jonas Zimmermann You just have to check the weather. In your example with a speed of 15kts into the direction of 280° you would have headwind if you would start for example on a runway with heading 100° and tailwind if you would start on a runway with heading 280°. So if you start into the direction of the wind you have tailwind. If you start against the direction of wind you have headwind. P.S. The heading you start to must not match exactly with the heading of the wind. (ᵔᴥᵔ)

+Francesco Mura Try to find online aircraft operating manual for a specific airplane model. For instance, I run simulations on Boeing 747-400 and I"ve found PMDG operating manual for this plane at this link: issuu.com/skylife.e-magazine/docs/pmdg747_400_operating_manual_v10 On pages 41 - 52 it is explained how to determine V1, Vr and V2, as well as pitch angle for the takeoff, trim setting and takeoff thrust. It includes charts and tables like seen in the video for this specific model. Hope I was of some help.

Normally on your flight release the speeds are there. You just program the MCDU and the speeds are input and thats all. No calculations needed from the crew.

Do pilots always determine V speed manually , or does the FMC give it to them?
@aviacaolivre7831
@aviacaolivre7831 10 лет назад
It is an airline policy for Boeing, although FMC speeds are only balanced (not optimized). For Airbus, it must be obtained from a takeoff chart or LPC application, since Airbus' FMGS doesn't calculate V-speeds.
@PrawinAntony
@PrawinAntony 10 лет назад
Aviação Livre Hmm... thank you. But PERF page in the MCDU actually does give us the V speeds depending on the aircraft payload and fuel we enter yea? )
@aviacaolivre7831
@aviacaolivre7831 10 лет назад
Prawin Antony No, it doesn't. the flight crew has to V1, VR and V2 manually in PERF TO page. FMGS does compute F, S and Green Dot Speed. That's in FCOM DSC-22-20-40-10 P2/20 if you wish to confirm :)
@aviacaolivre7831
@aviacaolivre7831 10 лет назад
Just to add: I don't experience with this model but I'm pretty sure A380 can compute that. The other models don't.

Not complicated at all. Pilots can easily understand these charts, it's the novice (untrained) aviation enthusiast that has a bit of trouble at first. Every airline pilot that started off in a Cessna or Piper or whatever can work through these charts and it makes sense to them, though obviously the actual numbers are different

@lcmortensen
@lcmortensen 7 лет назад
MTOW (maximum take-off weight) is calculated by the aircraft manufacturer as the maximum weight the aircraft can be at takeoff. What pilots have to calculate is the aircraft weight, which is simply aircraft operating empty weight + fuel on board + passengers & cargo and ensure it is under MTOW.

Pressure altitude is the altimeter when set to standard barometric pressure (29.92 Hg/ 1013hPa) so it shows what the altitude would be for an aircraft/ airport at sea level. Hope this helps!
