How To Calibrate The Needles On A Cluster | Eg Civic B16

A quick how to on cluster calibration. I am not sure if it is the same for all cars.
Unfortunately this doesn't work for the fuel gauge unless you know your tank is either at 100% or 0% full. Place coolant needles at the lowest line. Take pictures before disassembling cluster.
1. Turn off ignition
2. Remove needles carefully
3. Key ignition on
4. Place needles back at 0
5. Key off and on to verify position. Repeat if not at 0.
6. Start car to check calibration

Wow I thought it was just me when I did mine recently. I ran into the same problem haha; luckily I didn't put it all back together and tried testing it in the car before putting the front piece back on. I figured out eventually this was the method to recalibrate the speed, rpm and temp gauge. For the fuel gauge I set it back to empty and then let it recalibrate by itself slowly after turning on the ignition. Good to see you got the 220kpm overlay now too!

They have a listing for both 180 and 220km/he cluster.

You need a small amount of force but not too much.

How to calibrate speedometer needle, the only way i find to drive fast till i hear warning sound at 122km then i set the needle. Is there any safer way

You can use a gps speed app on your phone to compare.

How about the temperature gauge? Can you show hot to reset/calibrate the temperature gauge needle? Becuz after I removed and put the needle back on it was higher from the center mark

At operating temp before my gauge was in the middle so I just put it back to the same spot once the car had got to temp.

Doesn’t matter if it’s slightly out as long as you know where it should sit normally. If it goes above that spot then you know you have a problem.

How does this method apply for the heat guage and feul. I don't think im getting the most accurate reading.

The fuel one is hard but you can move the sender float to 0% and 100% and check the needle position. The temp gauge doesn't matter as much as long as you know where normal range is. Most cars it sits in the middle anyways. Get the car up to temp and set it in the middle.

Its universal most older style clusters work the same. It possible that the actual motor is broken.

@@BrunoMarquez-t2q yes make sure you push it far enough back on. It is possible to break the gauge removing the needles.

I'm trying to change the faces on mine, but how tf do you get the needle out without the stem getting pulled too? The needle would not fucken budge at all. Feels like Honda glued em on during assembly or something...

Yeh the first time you take them off there is a bit of glue. Make sure you grab it right at the base and not the edge as the plastic might chip.

just picked up a new/used cluster and put it in now the fuel gauge goes to full, is there a way im supposed to reset it? not sure what to do i dont wanna have to pay to have it fixed if i can figure it out.. plz help

Was your old cluster working on the fuel gauge before? Is it the same model cluster you had before? Some fuel senders have different voltage outputs.

@@JarrodWillemse the reason we replaced the cluster is because the speedometer wasn't working so we got the new one from the salvage yard and just use that cluster but that fuel gauge was going past full so we put our original fuel gauge in the new cluster and it slowly goes all the way back up to full, everything is the right year and everything cuz it's a 93 Civic EX ours is the 95 so it's compatible it's identical

This one I’m not sure. I just made sure I put it back on the exact spot it took it off. You could try take the hanger out the tank and push the float to 100% and 0% to make sure they lined up.
