I flavored some chkn I canned with bourbon and oriental seasonings . I flavored some ground hamburger wuth sloppy Joe seasonings , some bbq seasonings and Italian on some. It’s a great project to use the imagination.
I’m going to can my pork butt because I make tamales for family members that live here in Fla. I’ve canned hamb. Venison, chkn. But not pork. This is hurricane season and I hope to save all this pork instead of losing it to power loss like before. Glad I found your channel. I’ve made hundreds of tamales but I need to save the pork now.
Morning Crystal. That's a great deal on pork. Your such an inspiration for me to keep moving forward in this crazy world we are living in. Thank you so much for your time. God Bless
Good morning Laurie! I agree!! Things are so crazy right now and my focus daily.. press on in doing what the Lord has called me to do! 💓 I hope you have a wonderful weekend my friend. -Crystal🙂
Nice video! Was working on prepping some shoulder today. Tomorrow when I get home from work, I’ll cut the potatoes, carrots and onions! I’ll check out your other videos. Thx!
Perfect timing! I’m planning to can stew meat tomorrow. Basically the same procedure. This will be new for me. I’ve canned for years, but never meat! You are such a wonderful example of a homemaker. Totally inspirational! Have a wonderful week!
Yes! Canning beef will be the exact same procedure. You'll do great with this. Meat is so easy to can compared to many other things. Thank you for your sweet and kind comments 💓.. and your continual support of me! It means a lot to me my friend. -Crystal🙂
@@HomemakingontheHomestead I am referring to the electric eye that you put your pressure cooker on. Your source of heat. 🙂 I see you didn't use your stove but a electric plug in heat source. I want to buy one like it is why I was asking you the make & model of it. 🙂
Aww.. ok.. the stove I was using at the time was to small for a big canner. The hot plate is the brand Cadco. I purchased mine from Amazon. Here is the link: amzn.to/46EODog
I've been looking into buying a pressure cooker, but was surprised to learn that there's something on it that has to be tested annually? Do you do this?
The gauge needs to be checked. I need to do that soon. My husband was an aircraft mechanic and he would take the gauge into work (they had the proper equipment) to test it. Now I understand with the newer canners the weight can be adjusted to ensure proper canning pressure and you no longer need to have your gauge tested. I've been considering purchasing a newer canner for just that reason. -Crystal🙂
@@HomemakingontheHomestead Well that's convenient being able to have your hubby take the gauge in. 👍 My son is currently in school for aircraft maintenance. It's a stepping stone for him to have a skill before getting into a four year university for aeronautical engineering. If the newer canners don't need the annual testing, then I need to find me one. =) Thank you for your help. Erion~ (air-ee-on)
I thought the reason why I was called a pork butt is. During the Revolutionary War when pork was King when the soldiers would get their rations it would come in a butt... so pork butt
