What other questions do you have about your C-Section incision and scarring?

@@fritzhiependre6416 Thanks for asking. If the incision is opening and you can see the inside of your skin, even a little, you need to contact your healthcare provider. That leaves you at risk for infection. Your doctor may want to clean the incision and apply a special tape called steristrips to help close the cut back up. They should also evaluate your incision for infection. Please make sure to keep the area clean and dry until you can get it looked at. Good luck! If you can, please like my video and subscribe to my channel. It really helps me out! Thanks!

Dear Samantha, thank you for this video. If a 4 week old c-sect scar that is closed feels like there is hard tissue under it, and also under the skin near the scar, is that possibly fibrotic tissue that has formed? Does this hard tissue resolve on its own by the body eventually? Or what can a patient do to help it resolve? Can this cause adhesions to organs underneath? Thank you. xx

@5:20 you mentioned about wearing loose fitting clothing, but shouldn't a c-sect scar need compression like tummy tuck scar and wear compression garment or something like that?
@TheMaternityMentor
@TheMaternityMentor 2 года назад
Thanks for asking! The compression garments are not used for the scar. They are used to support your abdominal muscles while they heal and prevent back strain from an abdomen that is hanging out due to lack of muscular support. Loose fitting clothing is ideal after a week or 2 to allow for good blood flow and tissue movement.

Hi! I have a hanging belly. What are some ways to keep my scar clean and dry while healing?
@TheMaternityMentor
@TheMaternityMentor Год назад
Thanks for asking! You can lift the belly and use your peri-bottle and rinse the area with soapy water. Then rinse with clean water. Then pat dry. A couple times per day in addition to clean the incision, lift your belly and pat dry. Do not use powder as it can cause infection. At night, try to spend 15 minutes on your back lifting the stomach and allowing the incision to be open to air. Good luck!

You mentioned about letting the incision expose to air, but how soon can that be done? Some surgeons tell patients to leave their tape on for up to 6 weeks. It is so confusing.
@TheMaternityMentor
@TheMaternityMentor 2 года назад
Thanks for asking! Honestly, you are totally right. It is confusing. Usually the tape is small strips that have space in between. If this is the case, you are able to air out the incision. If the whole incision is being taped up for 6 weeks, I would ask why. Any cut we have benefits from air. Additionally, that tape would need to be changed regularly and that could be when the incision is aired out. However, in my area, tape is discontinued no later than 10 days after surgery except in rare cases.
@Dandelion_flight
@Dandelion_flight 2 года назад
@@TheMaternityMentor It is confusing. Also additionally many practitioners promote using silicone scar treatment which they say will flatten and fade scar and must be worn at least 23 hours a day according to the instructions. Which then makes me question… some talks letting the healing incision have good air flow yet some silicone treatment Eg strips basically cut out air flow completely. What is what? Haha
@TheMaternityMentor
@TheMaternityMentor 2 года назад
@@Dandelion_flight Unfortunately, that's the issue. Healing from the incision is different for everyone. Products use different protocols and that adds to the issues because you don't know for sure which is better for you specifically.
@jacqueline4749
@jacqueline4749 2 года назад
Yes it's confusing. My doctor took off my bandage after 4 days and told me to air it out. I'm not supposed to put anything on it for 4 weeks. I'm hoping to get the silicone pads on around 3 weeks. I'm worried.
@Dandelion_flight
@Dandelion_flight 2 года назад
@@jacqueline4749 Yeah so confusing. 3 weeks may be too early. Make sure the wound is all closed and any scab has all come off before you start scar treatment. I am doing massage every night before I sleep with a safe massage oil. In the day I use silicone. But some days too lazy to use. I started at about 4 weeks.

Hi, I have a flabby stomach covering my wound how long will it take for me to heal and eventually bind my belly? I just gave birth via c/s 2 weeks ago January 18th
@TheMaternityMentor
@TheMaternityMentor 2 года назад
Thanks for asking! As long as you are keeping the incision clean and dry, it should heal fairly quickly. Flabby tummy's heal in the same amount of time as long as they are being aired out a couple times per day. You can lift your belly in the morning for 5 minutes before you get out of bed and again when you go to sleep at night for some air. Then do this a couple times during the day. Most healthcare providers will allow you to start wearing a belly band by 2 weeks. I always say reach out to your healthcare provider and ask because some providers are adamantly against them. If your doctor doesn't want you to use one, ask why. I personally love the belly bands because they support your back and can actually provide pain relief. Good luck! If you can, please like my video and subscribe to my channel. It really helps me out! Thanks!

Can I have a vbirth after C-section
@TheMaternityMentor
@TheMaternityMentor Год назад
Thanks for asking! VBAC after C-Section depends on a lot of factors including how many pregnancies you have had, how many uterine surgeries you have had, what type of incision you had, complications in previous pregnancies, complication during current pregnancy, and comfort level of provider. This is a discussion you will have to have with your healthcare provider. Good luck!

Hlo Ma'am am from India. Now it's 15 days after my c section. Since day 10 I noticed a watery discharge from my wound. Now daily I dressing the wound from the hospital. I need to know about the discharge. Can you tell me. It's oudor less, no redness, no pain as well but watery yellow colour. There is no evidence of infection in culture test result. But day to day the amount of discharge is increasing
@TheMaternityMentor
@TheMaternityMentor 2 года назад
Thanks for asking. That sounds like a serous discharge which consists mostly of white blood cells and plasma which are used to fight infection and help with healing. They may also be present because your body is reacting to your internal stitches. At this point, keep monitoring the incision and look for signs of infection that may be developing. Keep the area clean and dry and try to air it out a couple times per day. I am sending you love and light and healing thoughts.
