Mid 30's sound good lol, been single digits up here. I have to target the channel cats, the flatheads are lying low right now I don't bother them. We don't have any blues up here though, when I lived in OK as a kid blues bit great in the winter, just not as much fight as warm water. That wind can be an issue for bank guys for sure. Those are decent fish for winter bank fishing, stay warm Bro!

Put a hot hand warmer on your reel under a towel. It should loosen up your bearings keeping the oil loose and your hands warm. Nice video and thanks for sharing.
That was fun Dave...i like cut blue gill, just as much as my frozen Skip jack...I found an eight strand Braided, called PE Blademaster on ebay...eighty pound, very inexpensive and is doing a great job for me. Thanks for aharing your viseos...
This location is where I grew up.. and grew up fishing... many large catfish,carp,and bass and even crappie have I caught here. Esp around the Marina. Those were some pretty nice cats that you caught dave. Esp for winter time.
I have been watching your videos the last couple days and I am going to use some of your techniques come spring to try to catch something bigger then the 20 lb channels and blues I've been catching on the Susquehanna here in Pennsylvania. I really enjoy your videos and the way you say it like it is.

Thank you catfish Dave for fishing from the banks. Your video content is really informational. I live in CA. and all I do is fish from the shore. I do a lot of Aquaduct fishing since some of the lakes that are close to the house don't have many fish, or I'm doing something wrong. I use slide weights, octopus hooks, and use crawlers, shad, anchovies, liver, stink bait, and even dough balls. I guess it's really the luck of the draw for me. Sometimes I do good and other times I get skunked and don't catch anything. Any tips?
I consider myself pretty dag-blasted lucky to live in the same area as Dave, so I get to watch his videos and then go to these same exact spots and reel some in! Dave if you ever get tired of fishing you could always do a high wire act in a circus. LOL Nothing worse than a cold day with wind when you have to stand around in it. I was going to tell you to watch those birds, the shad were coming into the shallow water. Good video Dave.

I'm going to watch this video as I have just started seeing your videos. As I mentioned earlier, I live in Minnesota, so fishing is a bit different here, with the fishing laws . Also, it's really very cold here sometimes!
That red river sure is hit or miss bank fishing and some of the good places are nearly impossible to drive down too. Conditions and timing have to be perfect or you will get skunked more times than not. It's absuluty slap full of them dink channel cats stealing your bait when its good too.
Really like to get as good as you on casting those type of reels. I have two level wind SS 30's. First attempt at a cast here in my yard I had a bird nest the size of a basketball. Well there goes that 200 yards of brand new string. I can now cast about 100 feet with no birdnesting or at least a recoverable bird nest. But no where near like you or Justin with kayak catfish can do.

I Checked out some videos on guys using surgical tubing as their thumb break they put a 6 in piece Under The Reel seat and it sticks out right at the thumb helps not set your thumb on fire when you're slinging heavyweight
