Now that is common requirements for everywhere when you Bank fish even out here in Cali for stripers I didn't think about going fishing with at least 12 pack and a couple joints
My dad hung a dish in a 19 foot boat and the fish was so big it drug him around for 2 hours against the wind going 1 through 2 mph. To this day he has no clue what it is the rod snapped
I see people commenting SET THE HOOK , I cant tell but if he's using circle hooks you never SET THE HOOK just hold tight the hook sets it self , yank the rod you will pull it right out the mouth
Been binge watching your videos the last few days. Waiting for ice out in Iowa to start chasing kitties. I would just like to say you’re hilarious and I love your videos. Keep killing it from the bank!
Hey Dave I think I can speak for all of us who have been here awhile and watched all your videos to know that fish was a monster as soon as you picked up your rod. We feel your pain bud! You'll get him next time. great job as always Dave
I've set a many a hour like that. It's actually a really good time to reflect on your past Like where you come from and where they come from. A man can find a lot in his heart and mind that he didn't realize was even there when you sat alone on the river. Sometimes the fishing gear is just real good side show and time taker
Lmfao...... Haha--Haha! Get off them rocks damnit! I about pissed myself! I think the catfish are on the other side of lake! This dude is hilarious omg he was suppose to set the hook and he totally disappeared off my screen! Haha Haha when you are bank fishing its a good idea to stay within the zip code You are fishing 😂😂😂😂
Yea I can see him in a boat, he'd run right off the side of the boat. LOL But then again he is nearly fishing in the next zip code anyways with those 11 foot ocean rods made for catching 200+ pound fish.
Good one nice stripers sorry u lost a big one hope u find him soon....and another note.....you should be the skipjack King....if you catch 10 in January...good job...👍
had a big cat pop my hook at lake mead the other day here in Arizona . i wasn't having that happen so i just dove in an grabbed him by hand . went an bought some of those mustads you've been using. hopefully it will help prevent that next time. any how great videos dave keep making them cuz i promise well all keep on watching.
I've heard of tick bites, flea bites, now I've heard of barge bites. Man I'd hate to see an airplane, cause that bite would make you Fly.. Great video catfish Dave
A great video as always, very entertaining. If I could have a fishing day like that I would be very happy. When I catch one or two cats in a day, that's all I talk about at work ;- )
High pressure is when we hit the water for our natives. They really wake up and shut down as a low moves through. Ledges and drop off are great, fish the deep side for lurking predators waiting to hit the bait fish swimming over. Sandbanks are good too, or the channels they form.
Man set the hook...Regardless if he hook himself...You tighten down on him and set the hook..Then pull your drag and make sure it squared away..Good vid btw
5:04 I think that is the first fish I have seen stop you from running with the rod! It had to be an absolute BEAST!!!! Maybe next time! That spot is really unforgiving in every possible way!
I dont understand why you kinda run with the rod when you get the hook "set", with circle hooks you just sweep the rod and let the fish hook themselves
He casting out 60-80yds of mono so he has to run the rod back to account for that amount of stretch in the mono to properly set the hook in the bony mouth of the monster even with circle hook. The design of the circle hook is to put it in the right place, (corner of the mouth) , you still need to embed it in there like a big nail.
Great video with lots of Good information about deep water fishing. I see you had a peg float on...maybe it needed the Catfish Dave demon dragon smiley face drawn on it?
Good video keep it up. Hopefully will be making some fishing videos myself soon. I do a lot of fishing in Virginia on the Northfork river for smallmouth bass. Just wish people would pick up their trash after fishing I do. I always take a bag with me to pick up the trash left behind by other lazy people. Best of luck to you in the future hope you catch a monster catfish.
Yep had that happen more than once makes ya wanna cry but that's why we call it fishing not catching there's always the chance of a monster everytime we fish. Oh by the way turn the clicker off when reeking in a fish lol
we all know it was a really big one, cause when you lose a big one , you will stomp yer feet and cus, we all been there my grandfather would lose his mind when he would lose a big one. but we all know you will one day get the big one you are lookin for
I'm a bank fishing guy. Don't need no boat. Can't afford no boat, like cats at night with cut bait. Me, my good dog Tina, and Mr. Budweiser. New subscriber
I've lost some big ones because I was using too small of hooks. I generally catch eaters using 4-6/0 hooks so those are easy to not hook over or into the lip of a big fish.
Catfish Dave: Use heavier line for the rocks and stay in better rod contact with the fish. If they hang up the line on the rocks, free bail it and give them a chance to swim off. Otherwise, tight lines!
I have yet to get a barge bite, heard about that phenomenon 3 or 4 years ago and been watching for one since, I’m beginning that it’s either a conscience or a hoax...lol
Yep buddy , I'm with you . I was trying to make an Asian carp video and all day it was walleyes and trout . Damned waste of time . My fish gotta have lips like a girl . I let em all go .
What are you looking at on phone there? I have a hard time finding a decent site to see river maps. Any advice? I live where Ohio West Virginia and Kentucky all 3 come together in river. South Point Ohio. Love to catfish. Biggest though was paylake 66.7. River best prob around 15lb. Not huge but way more fight in them. Any help will do. Thanks for all the knowledge you share.
I would ditch this fishing spot and never look back. Bar fishing big rivers like this its paramount to find the ideal drop off and bottom. Cutting the main line is not worth it!! Nice fish
That first on that came off hit me hard. I had what felt like was the biggest fish ive ever caught last night. I didnt let him take it long enough, or something...but the hook never went in its lip. Was literally the exact situation as the video. But, those are the things that keep me coming back, even after a skunk. Because one day Im going to bury that hook and a monster!
Yeah all you have to do is get excited about the fish you're playing and the next minute you know your stepping on the other rod and breaking it in half....
Had to show this vid to my wife. Never have I seen someone mad to catch not one, but two giant strippers. Hilarious lol! I understand the passion for cats though... i love catching them too.
About 50 years ago with my friend and his Dad while boat fishing on the confluence of the Minnesota river and the mississippi. I hooked a log they said, cut my line they said, it is just a log they kept saying. I am hard headed so I fought that log. Turns out it was about a 45 pound channel cat. Anyway I cut the and the Dad freaked out and tried to grab the fish, flipping the boat in the process. Tackle boxes were open so we lost everything. He kept crabbing at me as he wanted the meat. It as all my fault, so I asked him, how many times did you tell me to cut he line.? Not only did they never take me fishing again but they never went fishing again. Mississippi sure is cold in May :0). I have never missed a year even while serving in southeast Asia then I would give them to the smiling local's. I was the only person with a spinning rod, they thought the rod and I were funny as they had ear to ear grins the whole time I was there.
Good video. Just a thought.. I have lost my share of "NICE ONES". I think that loosing a good fish, is as that keeps me fishin, as much the anticipation of what might bite next. Fish on my brothers.
Haha....I've almost lost a few poles like that .... recently got bored an walked along shore when a 37 inch muskie took hold....buddy saved my pole ...last year trout fishing a carp pulled my pole in...I got it back after going in neck deep an retrieving my pole lol 😂
