I was watching snapper cooking vids, then ended up seeing “NASA is hiding stuff on the moon” conspiracy videos and then landed safely back here... I have no idea why...
You would have to be part of a secret society to understand the underlying symbolism. If you read the secret occult text about Hermes and his snapper pond of eternity you will understand the true meaning. This guy is def a 33 degree mason... if not higher.
@@81rbutler That's right, Ryan. I didn't have to think very long to understand that he misspoke and comprehend what the guy meant to say. As if the jerks have never misspoken themselves. The putzes.
John Rambo - Hello John, by saying what he did, he was just covering his bets. But if you were from the South you would understand him as clearly as I did.🤪
you want a bird .... fly paper and bird seed youll have tons in short order! four sheets stapled to wood with seed in center! wire the feet together open the wings wire arround. put the hook through the wing mussle. a live bird will also catch a big bass, larges love the birdies!!! bass have more meat and easier to clean
It doesn't matter. You can catch turtles on any live bait. I've caught them on chicken meat, gizzards, livers. Hot dogs, worms, bacon, shrimp. Turtles LOVE baitfish and shrimp to a lesser degree. You can even use frozen saltwater baitfish or cut bait on freshwater turtles. They like cold salty fish. I don't know why. Btw I have NEVER fished for turtles. They were always by-catch.
Who dares to disagree!? Same here, I have NO idea how this was recommended for me, I don’t fish much and never watch anything about it online but this caught my eye.
He's most amused as they struggle, or when he can report "they were not liking it." Strange psychological reaction to the more tragic moments of the hunting. Happy eating!
The secret bait.... is just a sparrow. Your either gonna have to hunt your sparrows, or pull them out a the front of your fender somtimes... another thing your gonna need is a fence post...
I moved from FL to NJ 6 years ago, I used to get turtles out of the road with my bare hands to save their lives (FL), so when I first encounter a turtle on the road in NJ, I steeped out from my truck and I was ready to do the same for this unknown specie..a woman was driving by ant told me "don't even dare to get close to that animal, is going to chop off your fingers"...I got a 2x4 to shovel the animal out of the way and I am still impress about the snapping force and aggressiveness of this animals!
@Francisco Luna - Opposite here, moved from NJ to FL. Looked at every turtle crossing the road with suspicion for the first few months. Now I grab them, no problem.
@@dinganddoo2 I remember one time I grabbed a big turtle around Boca Raton Area, and at the same way , a woman passing by told me to be careful about grabbing them bare hand cause they have lots of bacteria.....
@@franciscoluna9596 - She's very right! Reptiles can be loaded with salmonella. Back in the 60s/early 70s, small turtles used to be a popular children's pet but were banned because kids weren't washing their hands after playing with them and loads of kids were badly sickened. I worked at a FL native wildlife rehab on the west coast and I carry baby wipes and hand sanitizer in my car now because I'm always finding some critter in distress or that needs to be moved. I do however draw the line at gators larger than 2 feet!
G'day mate , I see and feel your passion in catching them turtles. I never would have guessed you use a sparrow! for bait... I have learn't something today 😆 thank you I enjoyed watching 👍
Very well documented....loving it. My good buddy is from the back woods of Oklahoma and I have LEARNED a hell of alot good to see this on RU-vid as well it is a pleasure to see and hear the secrets that you disclose my friend I hope to give this a try. P.S. I found your channel by accident and yet I was very intrigued. You have persuaded me to give this a try while I am up in Missouri. Thank you much sir
Can you please jump in the pond and stay there instead. Ever heard of a store? Why do you think there aren't turtles in the store, because they are NOT MEANT TO BE HUNTED
@@81rbutler you realise that the meat in stores is also made from living animals, right? Not "meant" to hunt? That's the craziest thing I've heard in a while. Who decides which animals are meant and not meant to hunt? All animals are animals. Humans happen to be predatorious omnivores since 2-4 million years back. If we can eat them, they are meant to be hunted. Do you sort animals out of worth? Iis it okay to hunter other mammals like moose and deer, but not reptilians like turtles? Why? Repitialians are worth more than fellow mammals? Animal-nazi.
@Prashant Pandey plant based? that's mods your eating, not real..If you stop eating greens they'll be lots of food for animals..stop burning firewood that animals like, stop using paper so animals will keep their territory safe by not cutting their trees,.don't think your perfect, the list goes on and on,.don't preach !
No molestar ( No molesting)TURTLES. The snapper is 12-20 years old and they have been know to reach 100 yrs old. Their numbers are decreasing- do not wait till they are gone! In Canada they are on a watch list and you may get a fine depending on the Province.
Yeah... those lists are regional. Some places they are over populated and some places rare. Where I am the numbers are managed perfectly, currently allowed one per year.
Lmao! I remember catching one of those when I was a little kid, no more than seven, on a cane pole fishing for brim with my pawpaw. I remember hearing pawpaw and uncle Ralph hollering "keep the pole up" keep his head up" and then the barrel of pawpaw's shotgun between me and it then "BOOM". No more snappin head on that turtle. It's shell was bigger than my chest. Pawpaw was grinning from ear to ear he was so happy cause he said it had been eating all the fish in the the pond there on the farm.
@@prolyric2715 I couldn't watch. I had to stop. I was watching "How To Take Cuttings Off A Plant." And then I watched this until the turtle was caught and I couldn't take it. Oh, I couldn't watch it.
@@rickjason215 I was joking, anyways eating any animal is equally disgusting because you're eating an individual who wanted to live. The guy in the video is a dirtbag.
Jabari Yep. That Turtle in the truck was heartbreaking. He even talks about how unhappy the Turtle is. He had empathy and then pulled off his head. I don’t eat meat either. Developed arthritis and was in terrible pain. I stopped eating meat and the pain went away.
I'm sorry, Les Johnson, but You are AMAZINGLY fun. Thank You for teaching me how to catch a snapper. Man, I seen them in southern PA and they were HUGE. We heard tell these turtles would snap your toes right off, so no one would put their feet off the boat in the water after that. In the Schuykill River between Douglassville and Pottstown between Rt 422 and Rt 724 is where the real monsters lived. That was a long time ago. I bet they just got bigger and bigger.
For all the people who disliked this video: Snapping turtle (Chelydra serpentina) is evaluated as species Least Concern on IUCN redlist. Meaning that, in no way is catching and eating a snapper having a detrimental effect on their population or the ecosystem as a whole.
There are a lot of people here making fun of Les, but I think he is good. I just happened to stumble upon this in the usual, apparently random, way RU-vid gives you suggestions, and I am not in, or from, the USA but I learned a lot and I think he did it all in an entertaining way. In Europe I may never be able to use the method, don't know if there are even snapping turtles here. I do think it is cool that he wants, and is able to, explain very well, an interesting technique. Thank you Les, all the best of luck to you.
@Mojo Tech Snapping turtles are protected. Legally hunting them depends on which species and where. In my state I believe we're not allowed to take any. Which is cool with me. If I went after turtles, I'd focus on the invasive species-they're easier to find and no bag limits.
Growing up l, we always used gallon milk jugs as a bobber to keep our chicken livers from settling to the bottom of the pond. Snapping turtle is great tasting meat but you just have to keep them alive and in a plastic kiddie pool and feed it chicken feed or coarse ground cornmeal for about a day and a half to clean out their insides prior to reselling, filleting and crockpotting the meat. Damn fine meal
stop eating animals Oh look, a triggered vegan that thinks they can tell people what to eat. I wonder if the vegan knows how many animals are killed to protect crops?
stop eating animals You kill animals too lil girl. Your existence on this planet comes at the expense of the animals that were pushed off land to build your house, pave your roads, grow your food, etc... Those of us that eat wild game have less of an impact on nature than those of you eating from the store.
My Grandfather always caught them crossing the road in the spring to lay their eggs.. You should watch them and let them lay their eggs before you catch them ..
City man here. Although I did eat fish from the local creek as a kid, I really got into hunting and fishing when I got a job with a bunch of "rural (mostly suburban)" Pennsylvanians in my 20s. I quit trying after a year or two, because ALL of them had big ass estates, family "cabins up north" with hundreds of acres," purchased at a time when Blacks and Irish couldn't even buy those properties, a "pond on my dad's property," or some farmer friend who made $500,000 a year. Rural Americans are an aristocracy who LARP as 19th century coal miners.
