Can you still catch stocked trout after they’re stocked for about 8 months? I’m just wondering how long it takes for them to adapt.

Excellent video about something I always wondered as a child throwing artificials, and my best friend catching more fish than me while still-fishing using marshmellos. Why don't they just sell the hatchery trout pellets at the tackle shop lol?

I have been using a flyrod and a beadhead nymph below an indicator to catch stockers all winter long. My best days always came when it was cold and windy. It seemed the harder the wind blew the more stationary the fish became. If you found a spot where the wind caused a slight current it seemed they would stack up in that area.

Omg!!! Totally makes sense. I never knew why fishermen use powerbait for fishing trout. Makes sense. Its like a pepperoni pizza for them. I just went fishing yesterday and everyone was catching by the dock. It was very sunny. Fish were in the deeper water near the shade (dock). Once again. Totally makes sense.

I've tried the artificial baits shown in the video and none of them work. Today I tried all kinds of baits with 2 trouts at shore for almost two hours and I didn't get a single strike. They were just feasting on the dead flies/mosquitoes that were laying on the surface in abundance, no way they would bite the ridiculous looking artificial lures when they have so much of the real food available. I'm thinking about hooking a real bug tomorrow.

I use fishgrub spinners from a guy on eBay. I like 1/4 oz. They are cheaper and they are awesome. Stockers seem to like black and yellow.

If you can't easily catch put-in/take-out trout...get a new hobby. It doesn't take much time to learn though. Within a couple of weeks they'll wise up....if they're stocked into a stream with year around stocking they'll learn much faster.

Biology says trout have no idea whats going on... Throw out a spinner and u will catch a trout.

meh just a one trick pony video when there are so many more effective ways. it's fine IF they are biting that type of bait. but often a crappie jig under a float works much better. or a spinning bait at the right depth.

Thanks went today at my local lake and couldn’t fish anything there was a lot of vegetación I didn’t know that the bait have to be floating to be able to be see by the fishes which makes a lot of sense I’ll try this method next week , (I’m a English learner so heater fu*k off )

Relax and have fun. Better not go to the east coast. After 800 dollars worth of tickets for fishing with a spinning reel or fishing certain creeks that are catch and release or single hooks or on full moon or wrong leaves on the trees etc. Better stay home and fish the ponds. Lol 😆

If there is a lot of trout in that place why is there no one else there fish? As many people who fish for Trout and he is there by Him self. Must be private owed. I notice a white pole to your left beside the road most any place i see with a pole up usually there is a chain that hooks on it to go across the road to keep people out. Id say either family or friends or neighbors owe the land and has plenty of fish in the pond. If thats a pond its a big one.

One question, how do you attach the bell? You put it on shore and when it rings move it quick and reel it in right?

That is exactly how I catch lake stocked trout at my local state park. Yes the water temperature is key. I caught them up until the water got near 70 degrees then it stopped. I call it a slider rig. I use a 1/4 oz. bullet sinker with a bead that fits into the concave end, then a barrel swivel and 24-28" of flourocarbon line. I run all 4lb. test. The base line is Trout SOS. Salmon Peach or Peach Garlic Powerbait does the trick in a small teardrop shape that parts the weeds when reeling in and also covers the hook shank. This style has resulted in a limit of 6 trout every trip there this spring with the exception of one that got me 4 trout after the water got hot. It's simply a deadly setup.

Cool vid. I use a split shot instead of a swivel so I can adjust the leader line length. I have to reset it all the time, but it works out well when you're walking the pond or lake. BTW...Did you have to use the analogy of the poor little Trout being snatched from its comfortable safe home? Now you made me feel a little guilty... LOL!🐟

Use real earth worms! All Trout love them hatchery, planted or wild. Just use hook and worm maybe small split shot if current is an issue. I catch them all the time. It's not magic, they're fish.
