What area is your elk tag? I've hooked a few pike in comins lake. Steel leader and a red devil crome spoon. First and last few hours of of light. A canoe or something to get you off the bank helps. Had better luck in the southern part of the lake.

Back when we were all teenagers we backpacked into a small canyon. My buddy caught a few small trout... We had a small frying pan but no oil... It dawned on me, we had a can of Hormel Chile.. The orange crap at the bottom of the can would work well in the frying pan. We opened the bottom of the can and Hobo Surf & Turf was invented.. From then on small trout was cleaned and scaled, and stuffed with Hormel Chili w/beans and wrapped in aluminum foil ready for the campfire. Once they are flipped a few times you have "Chile Trout"..... Grab the head of the trout and pull the whole bone structure out . Leaving nothing but Hobo Surf & Turf.

Guys one of my favorite ways to catch trout is dropshotting with two to four lb test tiny moskito hooks and tiny power worms give it a try its leathal

thats also an inhumane way of gutting it. all u need to do is hold it, and pull its head backwards to break its neck. that way u dont have to gut it and its a clean kill. u guys are still green behind the ears apparently when it comes to keeping a fish fresh and killing one.
