I use them on a standard Carolina rig. Cast out, let it sink to the bottom and twitch the rod tip every ten seconds and reel in a few feet every minute. That has worked for me at both North Fork Reservoir and Hagg Lake.

Finally A video straight to the point. Every second of this was worth watching. I watched another video about how to rig the bait with A single hook. I immediately knew there were some serious mistakes. Huge chance of not getting A hook set. Your video was literally perfect in every way. I've become very good at bass fishing, but live in upstate NY and desperately wanted more information about trout. Seems I've got it now. Thanks.

As we are all anglers here I’m sure everyone here would wish they could catch something every time they go out on a trip. Always enjoy the videos, here in NM we use the plastic bubbles with assorted pistol pete's. Not sure if you guys use them much, but they're fun to catch trout on. I do use the plastic worms but more of a bottom presentation, depending on what the structure is. Thanks for a the info and great videos. Very informative! Go fish!!

I've been having great success with the bobber with powerworrm on a jighead setup. Fun to be actively fishing with one rod and setting the second either off the bottom or similar to the first set up on this video.

I catch tons of Crappie with the white/bubblegum mouse tails, not to mention all kinds of pan fish and even a bass or two. Lots of fun to fish with. I rig them just like you said , with or without a bobber.

Interesting for sure! The first set up you showed is almost identical to the way I fish these things. Except I don’t have a bobber and I’ll wacky rig the mouse tail on the hook. I fish it with an 1/8 to 1/4 oz weight on the bottom and watch my rod tip to detect the bit. Honestly I’ve never had much luck with bobber fishing but I’m definitely gonna try rigging the mouse tail on the hook how you did it. Maybe it’ll prevent the trout from swallowing the entire worm as much.

With the jig head I’ve found threading straight through the “egg” doesn’t leave much purchase for the hook and you miss more fish. Try offsetting the hook on the egg. Or better yet, I remove most of the egg just leaving a bit of color, thread the worm on the jig head, lose the water bobber and twitch the jig. Money!

I use them on a Carolina rig with 1/8 ounce sinker number 10 hook on light line. I use 4lb test line. Caught several limits this way.

I use Free Rig with Mustad R30 Signature Dry Fly Hooks Size 14. It works great. The hook floats back up at the right speed.

They will not float a size 2 hook, I use a size 10. With a split shot about 18" up and slowly reel in with a constant light bounce to the rod tip. It is a killer set up in ponds and lakes. Adjust the slit shots until u find the bite!

Thanks for this video. I recently was at a local lake that stock trout during cold months here in SC. I have caught trout here before. My last trip there I placed everything I had in my arsenal in there faces. They were in different areas. You could see them at times. The only thing I didn't have was mice tails. I will definitely buy and try some next time I go. Maybe that was the bait I was missing to offer something different due to fishing pressure.

Haven’t ever used mouse tails; do you can other species with them as well(not many trout in NE Texas!) Also, when using a ‘water bobber’, I always put the large end of the stem down so a hard cast won’t accidentally dislodge it. Another great vid! Thanks!

If you use the clear bubble you fill with water, make sure the larger diameter end goes towards your bait and put your toothpick in from the bait side. Otherwise in a few casts the bobber will come off the center post and drain the water out.

Would really like to see you rigging a bottom rig. Like Carolina style with a floating bait or better yet with a shrimp bait and a floater at the bottom. It worked nicely for me with a floating powerbait but that floating shrimp (floater between shrimp and swivel) is a nasty one to pull off

put ProCure Super gel on micetails, we use krill/shrimp in WI. colors are white/pink, chartreuse/orange. best spawn sac color is, orange eggs, chartreuse netting. in WI

Do not discount these on streams for large oregon wild cutthroat also. Thread just the bead head part of the mice tail onto a size 4 or maybe size 6 octopus hook (I can't remember what size I use). I fill my entire reel with 4-6 pound fluorocarbon and never bother with leaders for this type of trout fishing. Eliminates failure points such as knots and swivels as well as cuts through the water well. Add just enough splitshot about 16 inches above the hook that you can free drift this offering through all types of water on the stream. I use 1 medium sized splitshot and can normally drift through the slower and faster water effctively. Sorry if this doesn't make much sense. But I find this highly productive and have had 50 plus fish in a day on the water with this method. Especially with the brown and red one in clear dropping water in mid to late spring.

was fishing basic powerbait off the bottom..... Garlic Rainbow, then a guy comes over asks me if i had any luck i told him no (fishing for about an hour) then then throws on a mouse tail and 1/4 ounce egg sinker pulls out a huge trout!!! manages to catch a bout three more right in front of me haha he was basically done for the day within 10 minutes haha pretty funny though lol mice tails work wonders

The mouse is killer. I will also run it fly line, with just wnough weight for it to sink (often the swivel will be plenty) and let it slowly fall. Once it is down a bit i twitch is back slowly...killer when fish are in the top 15ft.

I'm stalking some big browns in. This ultra clear water tried trout magnets didn't work what you think about using a worm threaded on my hook and float it past them hard to sneak up on them cause of ground has huge wholes that go into water into holes wh e re it's mud that sticks to my waders this is in fort klamath crooked creek these fish bigger the 25 in would love to get one

It's Battle ground lake. The lake sucks ass rn was there yesterday theres a few 1/2 lb trout still in there but there's like deadass 10 niggas on the dock he's standing on
