You actually SHOW the oil drain plug and how to get it out! GOOD FOR YOU!! Most oil change videos believe it or not do NOT even show the plug under the bike! Yours on the other hand is nice and clear...Great Video!
I’m sure I can do this on my own🤔. You went step, by step. Very clear on what to do and what not to do. I got my first bike not too long ago. I’m the type to do it on my own, if possible. Definitely appreciate you taking the time to share this video 👌🏽.
Thanks a ton buddy. saved me from 'surfing' thru my service manual. Cheers. PS your 'lesson' worked great for my 2003 FLHTCU(I) Electra glide Classic as well as yer RK.
Use empty 2 liter bottle to cup the oil filter... cut the bottom off the bottle and then on the open end cut a piece of the bottle off one side so it is longer on the other side. Put wrench head on oil filter, cup bottle around filter, stick neck of wrench thru bottle and oil will drip into bottle and bottle will catch oil filter....Free Hack
I service generators a lot at work. I like to use large fountain drink or iced coffee cups. I loosen the filter with the wrench, then put the cup around it. The cup is just big enough to where you can squeeze it and in thread the filter by hand while catching all of the oil in the cup!
Roccfella2625 is 100% correct, those screws heads on derby cover are a hardened steel, so if they are stripping, you have the wrong size bit. Thanks GL!
When emptying all fluids is the bike on the side stand or straight up and down? What about filling the primary? Should bike be on the side stand to get the level just touching the chain? Or straight up and down? Thanks very much and great video
Take a Good Look at your Front Motor Mount and Might change your ways of letting the Oil from the Filter just run off onto it .. Can also run down on your Voltage Regulator and Possibly Short out your Stator ..
If you leave the filler cap on before you pull the plug, the oil wont come gushing out and make a huge mess. Once plug is out then open up filler cap to vent. Most people doing these oil changes on the floor, only about 5” from floor to bottom of pan, not a lot of room with catch pan. The Derby cover screws are T-27. People stripping them are using T-25. Great video though.
@@dannymarsjr6422 They are usually T27, and easily stripped with T25. I also use a sliced 2L bottle to catch the oil filter oil. It damages you motor mount if you. let it go all over.
not to be a dick , but I would advise you to keep taken it to the dealer , just like you need to change your plugs , and air filter to keep them running good
Poo-poo'ing the rag when removing the oil filter seems a bit harsh. I mean yeah, there is going to be a bit of a mess, but why not soak the best part of it up before it runs everywhere?
You just watched it. It takes 7 minutes 😉. Actually, it takes me about an hour because I like to let everything drain completely. Also, warm up the motor a bit beforehand to get the oil to run out a bit better.
There are definitely plenty of options out there and it ultimately comes down to personal preference on what you use! Red Line is a quality product and has a nice all in one kit that's helpful for many people.
Get Lowered Cycles gotcha I was just curious is all. I've heard people say redline is the best and people say can't beat syn3. I've got a 2000 roadglide with almost 80k miles only ever had syn3 wanted to try different products but figured if it's not broke dont fix it
