This is a revised edition of a previously released video.
In this 'how to' I'll guide you through step by step on how to change the front brake pads on a BMW R1200GS, R1200GS Adventure, R1200RT, R1200R, R1200RS as well as the R1250R and R1250RS models from 2013 - 2018. Will also work with the R1250R and R1250RS or any bike fitted with these Brembo calipers.
I'll show you what tools you'll need, how to remove the old pads, clean the calipers, install the new pads and then check the brakes are working.

Hi - thank you for watching and leaving such a lovely comment. This is the very reason why I have done a few basic 'DIY' maintenance how to video's. So glad it's inspired you to do this. Should you have any 'challenges' please, don't hesitate to message me and if I can, I'll help you.

My manual said the torque values for the bolts holding on the caliper on the bike is 38 NM. But my bike is a 2015 R1200GS. Yours is likely newer Nice video.

Halo, good video, super, but I know that the brake caliper on the telescopic fork is screwed with M10 x 65 torque 38 Nm not 24 Nm.

Thanks for this nice and well explicated video! Any feedback on those pads you changed? If i am not wrong those are brembos. How are they. Thanks and ride safe!
@robchisholm72
@robchisholm72 2 года назад
Hi raw sound, thank you for your comments and the time to watch the video. Yes they are Brembo's, that's because my 2013 GS uses Brembo calipers and disks. As a result I prefer to stick to OEM, which in this case means Brembo pads. The pads work brilliantly as you would expect and thankfully last a decent amount of time.

Good tutorial. 👍 Is this the same process and torque settings do you know for the 1250 GSA?
@robchisholm72
@robchisholm72 3 года назад
Hi, thanks for your kind words and comment. I believe the answer is yes, but only if the original BMW Hayes calipers (as fitted to the R1250GS from factory) have been replaced with the Brembo's that were factory fitted on the 2013 - 2018 bikes. If the bike still has the OEM Hayes calipers, I wouldn't like to say. However, the process should be the same, but, the torque settings should be in the owners manual, or failing that, they will be in a Haynes manual. That's where I got my torque settings from.

La piastra a molla di con l'incavo a "U" al minuto 1:50 è montata in modo diverso da come fai vedere al minuto 10:10.Quale sarebbe quella giusta? The spring plate with the "U" notch at minute 1:50 is mounted differently than you show at minute 10:10. Which one would be the right one?
@robchisholm72
@robchisholm72 3 месяца назад
Hi and thank you for watching and taking the time to leave a question. I used different makes of brake pads, at 1:50 is with OEM BMW pads. While at 10:10 I've used Brembo pads. The spring plate would not fit as at 1:50 with the Brembo pads but did fit securely as at 10:10. So in one way, they are both right.
