Thank you! Super underrated comment. I didn't even consider the extra slats at the bottom, and I'm the one that originally installed them lol. That will save me lots of time hunting around for the exact type I needed.

Bought a condo recently peppered with honeydo needs. 5 warped slats in a bedroom’s 2” blinds. I was really hoping to not have to replace the whole window install of blinds over a few warped pieces, esp w/so many unused slats at my disposal. Cheers to the rare, fixable things!!! 🎉🪟🤑

Sometimes there are some extra slats at the bottom that you can just move up

You may have a couple on the bottom of the blinds you can slide out and use?

Same thing here. It has to be in the header. Now I'll have to get help because without the lift cord, I can't raise them up when I leave so my dog DOESN'T DAMAGE THE SLATS AGAIN!

@@nadiaray5218 I also purchased new blinds. Cheaper than trying to have them repaired. I feel the video should have addressed this.

If you want to do it with cordless put a vice grip on the string at the top you only have to do this on one side it will hold the strings in place while you swap the slats , usually you’ll have extras at the bottom you don’t need

@@Pablo-rp2fw I was able to restring it by taking all the pieces apart but I could not figure out the mechanism that holds tension. So the blinds look normal but they are not able to go up or down and stay. 🤣 I’ll eventually just replace them because it took me like three hours just to do that. Good luck!

ughhh i just did this to my cordless blind and the center lift string disappeared too 🙃 literally can’t find it anywhere in the blind or on the floor, i have no idea what happened to it or what to do about it. the window won’t go up or down anymore, just opens and closes.

Yeah, mine are held together not by knots, but by some metal things.

Jason, We would suggest contacting the manufacturer of your blinds to see if they can help you out there. If your blind manufacturer can't help you out, we would suggest trying a smaller company in your local area to see if they can help you out. Larger places, such as Lowe's or Home Depot typically don't allow for an individual slat purchase. If you purchased your blinds through our website, selectblinds.com, contact us with your order information and we can see what we can do for you!

+SelectBlinds I planned to just remove a few slats from the bottom to replace a few broken ones in the middle. The blinds are over 5 ft long so I was thinking a gap at the bottom wouldn't look to bad.

msggaines That would probably be the best solution if you do not have replacement slats laying around. I know when my dog got to my blinds, I had a few extra slats sitting on the bottom so I moved them higher up. Definitely a good temporary fix! - Anthony

That shouldn't be a problem, just as long as you have enough slats left to cover the bottom of the blind you are removing slats from but the windows have to be the same width for the slats to fit. If the window is wider, the slats will be wider and the route holes for the cording will not line up.

Hi Kristine! You could always contact the company you bought yours from and ask them what a restringing fee would be, most of the time if you're within warranty that would be covered.

I tried this with cordless and it turned out perfect.

LOL yeah the strings literally flew up into the blind mechanism & now i can’t find it 🤩
