How to Change Toyota Clock for Daylight Savings Time + I Read a Mean Email! 

I hope you're all having a great day! Do you think I responded in a good way to this gentleman's email? How would you have responded?

Jeff, you handled that perfectly and with class, good for you!...there are people in this world that feel they deserve to be serviced and showed every single detail about everything and the second it goes another way, someone is at fault...a simple google search or just going into the menu settings would have shown this person what to do, instead they waste 20 or so minutes crafting a hate filled email because they weren't 'serviced' in some way.

I think you handled that perfectly! Some people are just looking for a "slip up" or just something to complain about. I'll bet he didn't even try. This is something so simple that he could have looked it up in the user manual that every car has, or he could have called ANY Toyota dealership. Just another nut in the bowl. Keep up the "OFF THE CHARTS GREAT WORK" and don't let the turkeys get you down.

This is why I still keep in contact with my salesman for all of my cars I lease or purchase. He checks in once a year or so and see how things are going and whenever I have a question, I will shoot him a text and he always gets back to me. RU-vid is a great resource for all kinds of stuff but its not the be all end all source of information. I would have done a quick Google search or contacted my dealer if I wasn't able to get my answer. The videos are handy but a simple comment on the video may have sufficed. It's hard not to want to judge him because you're right, he might not have been having a good day but that's no excuse. Keep up the great vids. -Mike from Tampa,FL

Probably one of the most useful videos out there I can’t tell you how hard it is on some vehicles to change the date or time

I work in retail and get these type of comments everyday from people in person or over the phone. The problem is people want things given to them without having to put any work into it. This person could have easily looked it up in the owner’s manual. It is not your fault or Toyota’s fault for his laziness. Thank you, Jeff for your videos. You have helped me tremendously on deciding on my new car.

Hey Jeff - When I was shopping and purchased my 2021 4 Runner nightshade, the sales manager asked if I wanted a sales job because I knew so much about the vehicles (a little more than the salesman) I told him I learned from your videos! You do an awesome job! Try not to give attention to negative behavior, instead maybe share the positive emails which I know you must get a ton! I think you handled it like a champ! Seriously, the fact that some people out there have the audacity to be an a-hole like that person did just absolutely astounds me. It's simple; treat people with respect, and you will get respect in return. If you don't, you won't get any respect back! Also, just received some possible good news from my salesperson about my RAV4 earlier today! While they're still awaiting an official build date for whenever my build gets into their allocations, he told me that there's a possibility that it could make it into their next set of allocations in a few weeks, and that right there could mean that I'm that much closer to finally knowing the timeframe of when mine could be built, delivered and shipped! HOLLA!

Jeff: You do a great job and it's because of your comprehensive comparison of all the Avalon trim levels that I purchased a new Avalon this summer. Setting the time and making adjustments for DST, etc is pretty intuitive, but one has to take the initiative on their own to figure it out, or either consult the owner's manual - either in print, or online. Again, you do a great job. I don't blame you for calling him out on it...

Hi Jeff, I've seen so many mean people when I work as a cashier long ago. I always smiled regardless what they called me. I think because the good I did regardless God has blessed me to have a really good life now.If possible just ignore the mean people and be happy. If you try do be mean back its going to ruin your day. BUT there are situations people try to take your kindness to cheat you which my Toyota dealer tried. On an accident repair when my vehicle was with Toyota service department they thought I'm dumb about paint quality, suspension / control arm / sway bar related fixes, warnings on dash. I reported to Toyota Corporation resulted the dealership GM organized a meeting with service manager and few other people. GM apologized me they bought back the accident vehicle and I got upgraded to a new vehicle with a big discount. I had detail documentation (with videos) about the problems which I brought to the table. Till date I have those videos but didn't create a video and publish.

Wow. Its not that hard to figure stuff out on your own. I went out to my new vehicle a few minutes ago and changed the time. Did not have to send a nasty email to anyone either because I was not told how to do it beforehand. They way people treat you is not a reflection on you. Its a reflection on them. Jeff, I enjoy your videos! I noticed that tapping the time goes strait to the menu for the clock. I thought that may be helpful. I did think toyota should have it programed automatically since the GPS location can change it by state.

Hey Jeff another way to change the clock is to tap on the time it brings up the clock setting also.

Dude! It was so easy to figure out w/o looking @ the owners’ manual. The guy could have figured it out on his own! Aiyah! Is he a troll?

I can operate my heat,AC,Clock.And everything love it its simple unlike my wifes Ford. I got the 2023 Camry Toyota did it right.

Operation of the vehicle is the responsibility of the owner, not the manufacturer or dealer. It is very intuitive to do (remove DST) with no instructions. Toyotas are very easy to operate.

Hello, Toyota Jeff. I agree with your last video and how you didn't appreciate "Bob's" email. Just don't let them get to you to the point where you give them your peace. You did acknowledge that he might have had a bad day. I do agree that you responded to his email describing how it made you feel, though. That was appropriate and it was probably all you needed to do. That's all I want to say about that. I'm going to see if I can now change my clock. Now with my question. Is there a way to ensure that my Corolla always connects and maintains its connection with my phone? I've had my car for about two weeks now, and the connection has been in and out. I often have to "forget" both my iPhone and CarPlay and then re-pair the two. It can be frustrating. Is this a glitch or something greater? In advance, thanks for your response and insight. Richard

You seem like a fine fellow, Jeff. My beef is with Toyota. My wife's Honda Accord knows how to automatically deal with Daylight Savings Time with her connected phone. Why can't Toyota do that with my connected phone?

Hi Jeff, so I have a 2023 Highlander XSE, front wheel drive. The clock on my instrument panel is 1 hour off from the time on my 12.3 multimedia system. Can you possibly tell me how I can fix that? I have looked all over for info and can not find it. I know I'm old and blind but good grief 🤣

On my 2018 Prius Four Touring (large 11" screen) the Navi ETA time is off one hour I have no idea if this can be fixed. I have adjusted the time on the dash using the arrow keys on the steering wheel. Any ideas?

Also, I noticed an option in the clock settings that said "auto adjust by GPS". Is this only a feature in vehicles that have the dynamic navigation or is it all across the board? I ask as for my new RAV4 that I should hopefully be getting in the next few months that it only has the standard Audio system with the 7" screen as opposed to the upgraded Audio Plus or Audio Plus w/JBL system.
