If the programming code is not being recognized by you lock and giving you a single red x, we would recommend you remove the lock from the door to verify the programming Code from the sticker on the back of the motor. If this is in fact the correct number and you still get the single red x, then the programming code was changed, and a factory reset will need to be performed. The Encode lock was designed to program code more in the Schlage home app rather than via the keypad. We would recommend adding codes in the Schlage home app once the lock is paired. You would follow the steps by the Z-Wave Hub provider to create codes via their app/portal. Hello, Thanks for reaching out! No, it is not necessary to download an app. The Schlage Connect model is a Z-Wave lock and requires a Z-Wave hub for remote control. This lock is not compatible with the Schlage Home app so if you would like to use it remotely you would download the application designed for the hub to control your lock! Have a safe day!

I have the same problem, did you fix it?

same problem here. If I do a factory reset, the programming code works. Then I add a new access code perfectly fine. I then add my iphone successfully. From this point on, the programming mode does not work, it keeps on thinking it's an access code and after 4 numbers you get the red X...........

looks like once you pair a phone, the programming mode no longer works since it assumes all programming will be done via the app.

Unfortunately, without the 6 digit programming code you will not be able to reprogram the lock. We do provide a program sticker on the user guide as well as on the back of the interior lock assembly for the BE469 model. We do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. The 6 digit code is on a sticker inside the lock. You may have to disable-mine was inside the part that is outside the house. I put another sticker inside, but only have to take off the inside cover to read. Or you can program your own six digit after you get the factory one.(sticker shown 16 seconds in)

Hello, Thanks for reaching out! The Connect BE469ZP model does not have a home button like the Encode BE489WB does. Are you trying to reprogram your lock? Could you please provide the model number off the programming sticker as well as any application being used to control the lock so we can better assist you?

BE469 is shown in video, however both locks program the same.

Hello Delaney, The yellow light not illuminating could be caused by a number of things. The most notable is the lock is giving you a red X after the 4th digit of the 6-digit programming code that you should be entering. If this is the case, it's possible that either the 6-digit programming code is incorrect, or the code was at some point changed. Performing a Factory Reset is the easiest way to resolve the issue. Simply disconnect the battery pack, press and hold the "Schlage" button on the outside keypad, and as you're holding, reconnect the battery wire. This should reset the lock as well as the 6-digit programming code back to its default combination. If this does not fix the issue, please DM me, so I may further assist you.

Hi Eduardo, during the reset process you want to ensure you're pressing and holding the Schlage button on the keypad down before reconnecting the batteries. After reconnecting the batteries you should see 3 blinking green check marks that indicate reset was successful.

Agreed! These are garbage. I’ve had to get both of mine replaced 3 times in the last 5 years. This last replacement didn’t even last 6 months!

I’ve had mine for 4 1/2 years with not a single issue. Best lock I’ve ever owned. Not sure what model y’all have though.

Hi, Matt. If you can't remember your programming code, you can factory default reset your lock and use the default programming code that is located on the back of the keypad portion of the lock. @@SchlageLocksOfficial that's the point Jenny.... I'd rather have my money back for these things. Who wants to take all their deadbolts off on an "almost" yearly basis? It's a poor product with no fix other than constantly exchanging them.

@@daveycrockett9447 we finally just took the replacement units that were sent to us (2 total) and sold them still in the box. No word of a lie… every bloody year they had to be replaced because they’d malfunction and stop working. We now have some lower-tech push button units. Just replace the batteries once a year and they work great. These locks in the video though are complete garbage.

@@AH-ef3rw well you lucked out. We exchanged our front and back door deadbolts every year. After the third go-around we got rid of them.
