This is a step-by-step procedure for performing a factory reset on the Schlage Connect Touchscreen Deadbolt. Same procedure applies for the Apple HomeKit enabled Schlage Sense. For more information go to www.schlage.com or www.allegion.ca
I spend a lot of time on RU-vid, but this may be the most valuable video I’ve watched for the last year of so! Thank you for this vital information. Someone must have played with the motor when I brought the box home and then it would never get itself to the correct alignment and would give me this exact error.
This procedure was very helpful. Here's a few tips that might make it even easier to complete: 1) The "factory preset codes" are the 4-digit user codes, not the longer programming code. 2) When it comes time for you to enter the 4 digit user code (after you've reset the lock), press the outside Schlage button and RELEASE it. Wait for the screen to light up, then press in one of the two four-digit user codes, making sure that you see a green check mark after you press in each number.
Thank you so much!! I was having difficulty with my lock after changing the batteries. Your video was much more descriptive than the user manual. My lock now works and I am able to leave my house.
Super helpful, and I didn't see this listed anywhere else. I couldn't get my system to connect to smarthings after taking it off of ADT Pulse. Only doing this procedure, followed by a an exclusion, and THEN adding using the search directly for this lock, not the general search. Finally got it done. Thanks!
A great video thanks and had to reset a couple of times after doing a firmware “upgrade”. I wonder if management of these type of entities every check to see what grief their engineers put their customers through! The lock worked fine for the first year that had it until updated the firmware and then it took about 10 days of stuffing around to get it all working ok again.
Just did this and it stayed connected to my SmartThings hub. So seems like it does not reset the z-wave pairing. I could not find this procedure anywhere in the manual. I don't know why they don't include it. I moved the lock from a door with the lock on the right hand side to a door with the lock on the left hand side and the electronic mechanism was trying to turn the lock the wrong direction. It seems that the only way to get the lock to relearn the direction to turn is with this procedure.
Suddenly, my keypad is not working yet my Apple HomeKit Bluetooth connection works fine. I put new batteries in it, but the keypad is still not working. Now it does a single beep. When I try to do a factory reset, by removing the batteries and then reconnecting while holding down the Schlage button,it continues with the single beep and double green checkmark blink. This video says it’s supposed to blink three times but this is not the case.
this is an old video but I have this lock so here's my question. I actually have two of these locks. They work fine and I also have a zwave smartthings they are connected to which in turn they are connected to alexa where I can lock the doors or set up a routine to have them lock at a certain time. Problem is that they some how disconnected from my zwave. Will setting the lock to the factory setting require that I reinput all the codes? Will it also enable me to connect to my zwave set up again? If so how? I don't remember how I set it up in the first place. (looking for my documentation.)
I try this factory reset but it’s still not reset the clear Z wave last setup. The problem is when i try new set up z wave its come up x red,the factory reset was not completely clear the data for the z wave .
. It won’t let me enter my programming code. The programming code is a 6 digit number. It only allows me to type the first 3 numbers and then there is a RED X and it won’t allow me to continue to add my code. Can anyone help? I have the Encode
I was going insane trying to figure out what was wrong. I tried the old bolt and it didn't fit right so I had to disconnect the unit to put the right bolt in. That's when I got the error messages. I thought it was an installation problem. Thank you so much for this video.
I cannot connect it to HomeKit. I tried this reset and it did not reset. Everything works, the app, the lock, the lock with the app, I just can’t pair it to HomeKit and Apple TV 4K.
To save you hours of headache: If you are trying to change programming code and it won't accept your current programming code, then you can easily reset to default programming code by unplugging the wire from the battery, then press the exterior schlage button to clear any additional memory cache, then press and hold the exterior schlage button as you reconnect the battery (you may have to do this twice if the default programming code doesn't work). Also note: the programming code can be found on the inside of the unit itself if you can't find where you placed it. Also, if you set up the app, and connect it to your door, the programming code will automatically no longer work. It assumes you can program everything on the app. You can reset following my instructions above if you want to remove the lock from all devices and erase everything from it's memory. Good luck🤞
Thank you for the video. I followed the procedure to performed the factory reset. My problem still persist: The pad works for a given period and stops responding as if the batteries were dead. (Batteries are new and I tested them) If I disconnect and reconnect, the pad works again for a given period and stop responding again. Have you seen this problem before? I wonder if I could only replace the board. I bought it 1.5 year ago and it is no longer under warranty.
Jeremy Thompson I finally got Z-wave removed. Had to have to app on the phone open while I removed it per the reset. Didn’t make any difference in the lock malfunction. Sometimes the pad will light up sometimes it won’t. Sometimes any key pressed once gives a RED X. Other one of these locks has no issues. Haven’t had it work right once since using the Z-wave. I’d never install anything that needed Z-wave again. It’s been the biggest headache. Now it’s gonna cost me $175 to replace the lock. The lock won’t reset to factory settings no matter what. New technology sure can screw you over.
I have tried this, but my lock stops working right away, when I press the shclage button nothing happens, and if I press one of the numbers the x (red light) comes up. Any idea how to fix this? TIA
Did changing the battery work? I am having the same problem. It won’t let me enter my programming code. The programming code is a 6 digit number. It only allows me to type the first 3 numbers and then there is a RED X and it won’t allow me to continue to add my code. Can anyone help? I have the Encode
Gorilla Jones what did you end up doing ? Same thing happened to me- installed lock and Schlage button does nothing. Tried to use the programming code and the user code and it always goes red X. Please help
This is the second home in which ru-vid.comUgkx0jZ_lGlDVJhDnmagEU8gn47cmfPNlLQU we've replaced our "regular" doorbell with a Ring video doorbell and we really enjoy it. It is very easy to install and it works very well, with a clear picture through the app and good in-home use (we added the chime, which is also easy to install and doesn't require another thought to use).
I don't have the manual -- I just bought the house & the original owner didn't keep the manual! How do I change the keycode? (Everyone and their brother knows how to get into my house!)
This doesn’t always work, and Schlage customer service is pitiful. It took us a week to get ahold of someone because of being on hold for so long. I mean we have our own shit to do during the day we can’t sit at home and hold the phone for 2 hours everyday.
Electronically or with the inside thumb piece? I would verify the correct mechanical installation and then follow the procedure here for a handing reset.
this video wworked for a year then lock failed back to just like it was new . tweaked gears again still broken, it is a whole year old i can see how its worn out for 100$ . the problem is not it doesnt lock except by hand if you try to lock it from outside it does nothing if you unloack it from any deadbolt position it just cycles and grinds total piece of garbage overpriced piece of dung
