In this video, we will show you how to check or change the air filter in a 2020-2024 3.0L Duramax Diesel Chevrolet Silverado/GMC Sierra 1500, Chevrolet Suburban/GMC Yukon XL, Chevrolet Tahoe/GMC Yukon, and Cadillac Escalade. This is a relatively easy task that can be done in just a few minutes.
Tools and materials needed:
1. New air filter (ACDelco Part Number 12649641)
2. 10mm socket and ratchet w/(optional long extention for easiest) or flat blade or phillips head screw driver.
3. (optional) Gloves
4. (optional) Rag
Instructions:
1. Open the hood of your vehicle.
2. Locate the air filter housing. It is located on the driver side of the engine compartment.
3. Use the 10mm socket wrench or screw driver to loosen the three screws that secure the air filter housing lid.
4. Remove the air filter housing lid and remove the old air filter.
5. Inspect the inside of the air filter housing for any dirt or debris. If necessary, clean the air filter housing with a damp cloth.
6. Install the new air filter in the air filter housing.
7. Replace the air filter housing lid and tighten the three screws.
8. Close the hood of your vehicle.
Tips:
It is recommended to check your air filter every 12,000 miles or 12 months, whichever comes first. If your vehicle is driven in dusty or dirty conditions, you may need to check your air filter more often.
A dirty or clogged air filter can reduce engine performance and fuel economy.
