My BATTERY LEAD (second terminal) was slightly not all the way on the terminal. I shoved it on and then checked it (like here on the video) and it works! Check your battery terminals and make sure they are well-on.
Yeah thanks for posting this was helpful, have this issue with an n55 engine, the same test you did but I thought it meant that it was working properly when it was squirting out like that so thank you for clarifying that it needs to be a constant stream My water pump was struggling just like that
i did this same procedure, but mine flowed for like 15 secs longer then shut off then turned on again for another 15 seconds and so on and so fourth. When the car is running it has a constant flow though. is my water pump ok? water pump was changed at 66k miles and now has 80k.
it's not true that it causes the car to overheat when it's faulty. This pump is not connected to the cooling of the engine. Its primary function is to circulate warm coolant to the heater core. If too little coolant is circulated, the blower fan will not pull enough heat out of the coolant and cause the heater core to get cold.
No this is the only coolant pump on the n52 engine and yes it does caused the car to overheat the car when its faulty. It circulates coolant to the main radiator for cooling and through the heater matrix for interior heating.
Anybody have any idea what to do if the water pump doesn’t turn on at all? No water coming out/ no noise. I pulled the fuse in the white box under the hood and the fuse was blown replaced the fuse and still the same thing. Also no engine codes for water pump.. only for a misfire I have but I’m focused on the water pump right now... anything?
check the wiring to/from the pump and thermostat (same area) underneath the car. the connections could be loose, dirty, faulty, cut, fucked up, and even the wiring all the way from the connector at the pump/thermostat to the fuse box could be open/exposed and possibly shorting somewhere.
The waterpump has to be functioning for water to be squirting into the coolant tank. But this is what it looks like under normal operation. The water does not constantly flow like he states in the video.
@@PaulSamaniego584 Yes. This looks like a healthy water pump. He had other issues. Maybe just a coolant temp sensor not triggering the fan to turn on.
I have a 2004 325Ci that overheats on me and that constant flow of water from the water pump was just spitting out instead of a flow and the left battom and right coolent hose were really tight with presher ???
I’m having the same issue with my n53b30 engine overheating. I changed the water pump today and it’s still doing the same thing overheating and going over the 90 degrees celicius. Any tips on fixing it?
Did you ever figure this out? If the temp sensor is bad, it would not trigger the fan to turn on. When my pump failed, it just stopped dead. This demonstration is incorrect.
@@TheFrenchPug yeah I never changed the thermostat when i replaced the water pump and as soon as I changed the thermostat it was all good, it was probably the thermostat in the first place not even the water pump because when they removed the water pump they said it seemed nothing wrong with it.

The sensors in the vehicle will let you know through your dash operating system or display it on your iDrive system if the vehicle is overheating. It will consist of the message like "Vehicle Overheated, Pull Over and turn off the engine"
Yes.. if the water don't come out the water pump don't work. Or you have a bad termostat wich is blocking the water from coming up to the container. If you not getting water at all, is the water pump with the thermostat
My car has overheated a couple of times, only on cold mornings. If it's warm outside there's never a problem. If it is cold the heat takes forever to warm up then it overheats as soon as I start driving. Turning the heater off it runs fine. 2006 325i, setup looks exactly the same as yours.
Luixi Alexander Question Wich cars have an electric waterpump ? How can you tell ? I have an bmw e63 from 2005 a 630i but i dont see any coolant spraying ?? When i start it it flows Is it broken ? Or dont i have an electric pump ?
