I had a quick question: you mention how the shoulder fit is crucial to a nice-looking blazer. How would you take body measurements for the shoulders for a blazer? Would you measure from the front (collar-bone side!) or from the back (scapula side!)? And would you go from the end of your shoulder or aligned with your armpit? I hope I am a bit clear! Looking for a blazer on a consignment site and won't be able to try it on! Thanks a lot for your time!

Hi Alyessa. That's a gorgeous blazer, lucky you, I adore the striped details. I've heard that blazers do change - just to confuse things and to get consumers to buy. They will have 1 button, then 2, then 3, then 4. Also, the back will be straight, 1 centre flap, 2 side flaps. Have you noticed this also?
Hi Alyssa, I just found your channel and I really love your videos. I've wanted a Balmain blazer for several years but can't afford them now ... maybe in a year or so. The thing I love about them is the strong shoulder - that very straight squared off shoulder. I know there are a lot of blazers that have shoulder pads but they just don't get that same look as the Balmain. I have more narrow, sloping shoulders and I really like the more masculine broader shouldered blazer look. If you have any ideas ...any brands , models or styles that you know of that give that same look, I would love to know. Hi Sue! Thank you so much for watching, I'm so glad you like my videos! Hmmm I agree a Balmain blazer is an amazing investment and it sounds like you know what you need! Other alternatives I could recommend are: Smythe (still expensive but you can find them for less than $200 on luxury consignment sites, just make sure you look for their fitted/equestrian style for the structure), I would also recommend a double breasted blazer from Club Monaco (I have one and appreciate the similarity to Balmain-style), Ralph Lauren or White House Black Market. All classics and good quality there too. I did a quick search on ebay and found some Balmain blazers for under $1000 so that is also always an option that may take less time to save up for! @Susan Schafer, I have been looking for someone on a forum willing to take a plunge and buy from a site I just found. You may be the one! I too want the Balmain. I have a few that Alyssa has suggested and I am pleased with them, mainly price point. Recently I have been banner bombed by Zcrave and while I don't know about fabric weight or drape etc, the look is spot on for my eyes of the Balmain. Do take a look and if you take the plunge, I am begging you to come back and give me your opinion! Let me know if that tip helps. XO

@@AlyssaBeltempo I thank you for that answer! My tailor was adamant that my Express Blazer didn't fit because she couldn't close it. She kept tugging and yanking and nearly knocked me of the fitting pedestal. I said on this particular cut, and button placement I wouldn't close it anyway. May I still wear it? I asked she said no! (I still wear it) and get compliments on the fit! And it remains open. So your answer is appreciated. XO
