Thank you for the tip on a trusted brand. It's hard to choose from all the different price points from the big box store items. I think an integrated seat at the back of the unit might be a good idea because the roof in our bungalow style house really keeps you from standing at that end of the shower anyway. And there are a lot of reasons people might need to sit in the shower too.
Is it okay to have 3/4” plywood as my subfloor following with 1/2 durock and then the shower pan? Or should I put it directly on subfloor. Thank you in advance!

While we are partial to the Mustee brand, we'd recommend checking with your local shower installers. They may carry a different variety of brands, styles and prices. Unless this is a DIY project?
Hello Edward, in order to connect your shower base to a non PVC drain you have to replace a gasket (5:30) with one that is intended to be used with brass or copper.
