In my humble opinion everyone should stop using the phrase "gun control" when media and politicians spout their nonsense and retort them with "Civilian disarmament". Because ultimately, that is exactly what they're trying to do.

@Coke I’m pretty sure I was the catalyst that made him finally joined the gun owner lifestyle. I’ve been kind of priming him for the better part of 5 years. I figured he could always put shield arms gen 3 15 round mags and if he wanted to.

This was a great video on how to choose a handgun specifically for home and self-defense. As someone who has been shooting for years, it's always helpful to get a fresh perspective on the decision-making process. Eric's insights and recommendations were spot on, and his tips on ergonomics, caliber, and recoil management were especially valuable. I appreciated the thoroughness of his approach and the emphasis on finding a gun that fits both your body and your needs. Overall, a very informative and well-presented video.

Got my first handgun the day I turned 21. My first handgun was a Glock 23. I figured I could always neck it down to 9mm on a conversion barrel and extractor so I didn’t have to spend money I didn’t have. my goal was reliability and versatility for my first gun and also it was right during the Obama ammo crisis of 2014, so I figured having two different calibers options would be advantageous. Now I carry an Inox 92 FS every single day, open carry, everywhere I go that I legally can. I did some custom gunsmithing/fitting and I added some LTT parts. I shoot this gun so well that I wouldn’t want to carry anything else.

I disagree. Most people are getting the firearm to carry so naturally it should be something that you won’t mind having on you at all times. It’s gonna be a adjustment to having any firearm on you anyway but if it’s bulky and heavy then someone new to carrying would likely leave it at times instead of carrying it. Most people would be best suited for a semi auto with 3-4” barrel length that could serve as a home defense or conceal carry.

Absolutely. Id prioritize a handheld light over a weapon light if I could only afford one of the two. Hand held 18650 lights are much brighter with longer range, longer lasting, rechargeable, and like you said, dont need to point your gun to illuminate. If you can, get both the weapon light, and hand held. If you can only afford one, get handheld. Malkoff lights are where it at.

Two guns I’d consider for a first time buyer. Home Defense: Glock 17 Carry: Sig P365

My first handgun was a full size 40S&W 4.4 inch barrel..... I hated carrying it and it printed (showed through my shirt) bad. I soon after sold it and bought a subcompact 9mm and absolutely love the smaller size. I don't want range toys, I want protection

My 1st gun was the 686 then a M&P 9mm. I would definitely go With something that's gonna be comfortable and fun to learn on not something crazy

Me personally bought my Daughter a Bersa 380 when she was old enough to legally carry. But I’m going to move her up to a S&W Shield or a Glock 19. Same as I carry 19 or the Shield. But I just bought a Glock 26 that I’ll throw into the rotation.

Bought my first pistol (a Ruger P95DC), brand new in 1996-- after a LOT of research... Great choice, imho. Thing still runs great to this day! If I had to make the same choice today under the same circumstances, I'd probly go with a Smith SW9VE, or more likely, a Shield Plus-- lots more 'quality, carryable' choices now

my first gun one was a PS90. Because stargate. And ive gone down the rabit hole of unique design guns ever since. Pistols was a jerico 941. Heavy but a fantastic winter coat carry in a sholder holster. Historically people have designed a slew of mechanical systems to make guns work. And its amazing to rip apart guns decades apart to see what similarities exist or were directly ripped from other guns. And then there are designs that became dead ends that have never been picked up again in future designs. Super facinating.

For a ccw, rented a glock 43x and didn't like how small the grip was. Was gonna get a bersa thunder for the size and price but like beretta so got a cheetah 85bb 380, imported.

The smith and Wesson SD9VE is a great gun. It’s up to like 400-450 now but it’s way way better than the sigmas they released first. I still carry it to this day over my glocks and sigs

I watched a ton of these first gun videos and by and large they all pushed a polymer pistol - glock, M&P, XD, etc. and in the end I bought a M&P 9mm full size. What i should have done is bought a used metal pistol like a sig P226 or P229. These are so much easier to learn on and much easier to shoot for a brand new gun owner. Once the heavy gun is mastered, the new owner can move on to a lighter polymer pistol. Just my opinion.

If I had to start over tomorrow my first would be a Taurus TX22 Riton •Cheap ammo, the first 10,000 rounds of practice gets expensive •Once you’ve gone red dot you don’t go back

My first was a Glock 43 whatever year it came out. I wish I learned how to shoot something more 19 size so I understood correct grip vs getting frustrated with the snappiness of the little 43. Also for you guys buying 9mm go with a lower power factor ammo it will help learning recoi and grip

The right double stack is no harder to conceal than a single. The p365 x with 12 rounds completely disappears when wearing the right belt and shirt.

Great video,I think a 22lr revolver is a great learning gun cause ammo is cheap and a revolver willn't jam on you like a semi-automatic will.

This is exactly what happened to me. I did a ton of research ton of reviews and decided I needed a Glock 40 MOS in 10mm. Went in to my local gun store walked out with a Glock 17 MOS. 30 or more pistols later I still don’t own the model 40. Someday lol.

Will get my first firearm with my humble 38 years come july. Sure, i got some kinda favorites like the Walther PDP or the Canic TP9 , but i wanna see what i feel most comfortable with and what i can properly conceal with my stature for the longer term. If i have to decide against my favorites, then that´s that even if i have to go over budget with all the accessoires and ammunition afterwards
