Love the “I want magic feeling so I look for realism” I also have seen in train modelling that they yellow the bright light to warm light with a transparent paint so that is maybe an option

Your LeLightGo comment is spot on. I had a similar situation - I bought my Hogwarts Castle kit at LeLightGo and it was the same set Lightailing sells. You reviewed a pics where you noticed a gaps between some Lego. That may be an indication that, in order to run the wires, the Lego must sit on each other rather than connect. A firm connection may cut or damage the wire making it unusable. I find it helpful to look at the instruction manual to know if this may be the situation before you spend your money and get something that disappoints.

Very informative. Thank you. My partner just bought Diagonal Alley and I was thinking about getting the light kit. You've given me a terrific overview on what to consider before making a purchase :-)

Another good review. If you want to go for Light my bricks as they are so expensive it’s best to wait till Black Friday Deals. Plenty of time to save up. And if you register in the Voltprogramm you will earn points also when you review the product you bought. Text, pictures and for videos even more points which give you some off the original price then. But I agree you can light DA up creating your own light kit with separate elements, you could even follow the instructions provided by LmB to achieve the desired effect. As the elements are interchangeable you could use those of Brixmax then I guess.

Johanna, sign up for LMB sales notifications. I got the Diagon Alley kit during pre-black Friday sale for 30% off. I’m in US but I know they have a 25% for Black Friday. They just did a 20% off all module kit sale and I got the Jazz Club kit. I will say that I prefer LMB because I don’t use all the lights and can usually do an entire modular with leftovers. Also YOU were the inspiration to light my city. I was way too intimidated and your videos pushed me to dive in. There’s no going back now!

Brilliant and very informative review of light kits. Whilst some of the kits are expensive, I do think that lights installed properly they can really enhance your set.

Very informative indeed, thank you. Never known about how many differences there are to consider thinking about what kind of lightkit to choose.

this was a very interesting video, honestly I hate colored light or cool white lights. I want a cozy vibe from adding light kits so I always want warm white lights

I have not done this with any lego lightkits (as i dont own any) but I've touched up cool LEDs before with a yellow or red permanent marker to make them warmer.

Great comparison! I'd avoid the one that you can't change out lights. What I would have liked is an image and some discussion of the connector size, so you can estimate the ease of routing through bricks. I love Light My Bricks, but $$$$! BrickSanchez used Game of Bricks I think. I tend to trust him!

From watching most (if not all) of your prior videos, in addition to knowing how talented & detail oriented you are- I have zero doubt that you would do a spectacular job with a few DIY elements…. That way you can customize every shop & only buy the minimum, and in the future if you decide you want to add to it- you can just grab a few more elements from the same company you bought the original light elements from. Thank you for walking us thru this- although I know I want to light up a lot of the sets I have, I’m fairly certain I lack the patience (at least currently lol). Slightly unrelated question: do you prefer the parts storage units with both the small & large drawers, or do you have a preference of the larger drawers or smaller drawers in particular? I’ve picked up a few of a similar style, however I’m wondering if I should grab 1 or 2 of the larger drawer containers or if I should just stick with the combo.. I’m hoping to start really digging into the project of making over/cleaning/rearranging my soon to be lego/build (also likely sleeping area lol) this weekend & was wondering if you found you were using more of the larger or smaller drawers in particular.. although I’m likely to blow my current funds on a lego store trip since each time I say “I’m going to go to the lego store today” I never end up getting there lol.. I’m overdue for some BAM/PAB/etc.. fingers crossed I get there! Sorry for the super long comments- idk why I ramble- it’s a bad habit! Very impressed with how your new room layout turned out, it looks absolutely amazing! Hopefully you will get a bit of time for yourself, Ben, the kitties, and can get some rest soon, it seems like you’ve been constantly working your butt off on one project or another! We can’t have you burning out, I’m fairly certain RU-vid would cease to exist! Shutting up now, have an excellent weekend!

Hey Johanna - I’m going through this dilemma at the moment! I’ve just got an area sorted to start setting up my first ever Modular’s! My first build is going to be assembly square, and I’m struggling to choose similar to you! Do you have any recommendations based on how you lit yours up? Thank you!

I used Lightailing for Assembly Square, and overall I think it looks fine. Nothing too overbearing. The only one criticism I would have is that the two street lights are cool white, whereas all the other kits come with warm white street lights. But that's just my opinion
