Have a BMW convert. The dealership and every detail center I've spoken to says you do NOT wipe the top as you are doing, as it can damage the micro fibers, causing a fuzzy appearance on the top. All stated to use a high end horse haired brush to clean the top and to blot the top dry. NO wiping! No clue how you came to the conclusion that wiping the top with anything is a good idea?
It's ok that you're getting it on the glass because it will wipe off with some glass cleaner? What about all the fabric guard you're getting on the paint?
Great video, just want to confirm. Just got a 2016 Mustang, has a black cloth top. So when I wash the car, I can go over the top with the 'Mit' and the car wash solution, just like the rest of the car, before doing this process? I just want to make sure, don't want to do anything to harm my new car's top! Thanks again, look forward to using your products.
Great demo but looks like as much went onto the body as the roof. Looks super easy to use but i have to wonder...if it comes off the hard parts easy how does it stay on the fabric much longer.
Does the protectant damage rubber and plastic surfaces or just discolor them? My '16 Mustang has tiny rubber v-shaped drip molding inside the side seams which would be very difficult to tape off and still protect the stitching.
In my opinion i would have liked this video more if you have used a different car as you model. Not that i am disliking the car but the soft top was a new one so i did not get to really see how to clean a soft top for the best restoring black results possible. I have a hondaS2000 and i have had difficulty of cleaning and making my soft top look like it just came out of the show room. The soft is more or a greyish tone than a black what it is suppose to be. What are you tips and advice on how i should take this task on and make my soft top look like new again. - Thanks
That's because the best time to protect your top is when it;s brand new, not after its become faded from the sun. If Fabric Guard was installed on your top from day 1, then you wouldn't have the fading problem. The best time to protect your car is from the beginning. Carlos Ceja If the top has faded, there is no way to un-fade the fabric. That is why you must protect your car from day 1. S2000 tops are a vinyl synthetic top that must be protected from the beginning. If the top is faded, it must be replaced to restore the original color. If the top was protected with Fabric Guard from the first day of purchase, It would not be faded. -Greg@CG

I do a 50/50 overlap. I go lengthway and sideway. Also, I always buy 3M refills. The paper on the cheap ones is thin and does not tear straight and the adhesive is not as sticky.
What is the relationship of smárt products (smart leather, smárt wax, etc. that are shown in the wall poster at the start of the video) and CG products? Are they as good?

I Have a 1998 soft top rav4 that I let someone use for a couple of years. they did not take care of the top at all so it is have and brittle to the point I am not sure if I want to take it off until I can make it a little softer. any suggestions? Thanks
Yeah, buy a new one. Those mini rav4s have nasty cheap vinyl roofs, once the uv from the sun and age takes its tole it's shit, there is no bringing it back. The only way you could "CARE FOR" the top is to use protective vinyl coating to slow how much UV it's exposed to, and I wouldn't blame the person who used the car for a 20 year old vinyl top getting brittle, it's just what happens (unless you garage it and only drive it a couple days a year which is unrealistic for 99% of people).
