Thank you, Hacks by Dad. This is truly helpful. Thank you also to those who discussed the brand of grease they use (Lucas and TriFlow) since the label on "Dad's" grease was illegible.

Dig it!! Thank man!! I didn't want to keep applying force pulling my side off, because it just felt like it didn't want to give, PLUS I have the stupid foot tension knob (6800C HD) sprouting out the top so i am like, do i unscrew it off? Then i was like, MEH, maybe not. I was at one on it, so i screwed it down to four, pulled like you and detached no problem. Again, YOU THE MAN!! Thanks! I may throw one up since there isnt any SINGERS with the foot tension knob out the top I could find. Short and sweet vid!

I just got this machine and was thrilled to find your excellent video! Thank you so much, I know I’ll be referring to it as I clean. How often do you recommend a cleaning? There is no Milage counter, so…I’ve never really known a rule of thumb.

To tell the truth... I grease and oil the machine when my wife tells me that it is running louder. LOL. I dust the bobbin case when I change bobbins and notice large clumps of dust. Hope this helps. Happy sewing! 😎

Is there nothing we need (at least clean,)to do on the top front section behind name and model area? Or will it not come off? What about a drop of oil in the hole (mine has a piece of felt type msterial in there, and I do know I am not to remove that when cleaning, but does it get oil? Thank you.

Sorry, I'm not sure of the area that you're referring to. I would look at the sewing machine, but I returned it back to my mom several months ago.

Great vid, thank you. A Singer HD machine is one I'm considering, and it appears to be much easier to oil/maintain than a comparable Brother or Janome. I assume the 4411 would be the same as the 44S internally?

Sorry… not sure. I’ve only touched the 44S.

@@HacksbyDad Just FYI, I ended up getting a 4411, and it is identical to your 44S inside. Definitely runs smoother and quieter after a grease/oil job.Thanks again for the clear, concise video.

Hi. The motor does not get oiled? My motor seems to smell a bit when I start to use it. Could it be because I hadn't used it in awhile?
@HacksbyDad
@HacksbyDad 3 года назад
Sorry... I’m not an expert in this area. I don’t think the motor needs to be oiled. If the smell continues, I suggest taking the sewing machine in for service. Thanks for the question.

bearing grease will do the job, go to home depot and look for the “lucas heavy duty bearing grease”

Tri-flow grease works great for sewing machines. I started restoring vintage machines about a year ago and was having trouble finding the Singer brand in the tube (Singer calls it lubricant instead of grease for some reason, it's really just grease. Marketing maybe?) Tri-flow also makes an oil that works better than Singer sewing machine oil.

@@davinskimac8351 I have the same machine and had the same problem as you but figured it out. There are a couple plastic clips that need to be disengaged. When looking at the back of the machine, they are on the top portion that he removes. On the bottom edge of that top portion right next to where it says "singer", you have to push the edge of the top portion back relative to the bottom portion to disengage the clips. Then it will lift off as he shows in the video.
