How to clean Hybrid Battery Filter on a Lexus - Cooling performance of the hybrid battery is low

This is a follow up video ! Consider it as a necessary to do (part 2) since you have an access to your Hybrid Battery Fan.
Very often if you get a warning message " Cooling performance of the hybrid battery is low Consult a dealer" just a simple clean of the filter and the fan can resolve that issue and save you lots of money. All you need is few basic tools and not more than 30/40min to spare.
In the previous video ( • Used LEXUS Hybrid - Th... ) I show how to access the hybrid battery fan. That is the exact same procedure you have to go through to be able to get to the hybrid battery filter .

Thanks for the video. Our is300h had the same message on the dashboard. 60mins to remove and clean both the fan and filter. Range went from 790km to 1103km on a full tank 👊

I just did this today and didn't open all the bottom and side trim. I just opened 3 clips on the wheel arch trim and pulled it down as the material is quite soft. There is enough room to remove the filter and give it a good clean, I also disassembled the fan assembly and gave that a clean as the fins were full of dust.

How to remove this tube with the filter? just pull and unhook from that yellow hook?

You just lift it up from the yellow pin and then you pull the tube out. The actual filter you don’t need to remove it from the tube . You can just vacuum it . Then if you want to wash it make sure you don’t get the tube wet and dry the filter completely before you put it back. If you put it damp it may grow mold and dust will stick easier .

Would be amazing if these car manufacturers made access to these components really really easy. Like a unclip and pull out panel for the filter. Surely it wouldnt be too hard for them to design something quick and simple.

Luckily on mine I didn’t have the error codes . But I know from other owners after you clean the filter and fan it you don’t have the error codes

@@AA-os1sg I believe you are referring to the LCA bushes at the front . I haven’t had this problem. Currently car is at 88000 miles

Thanks a lot for the video. I bought my car end of last year and in January did my first full service at The dealership (Lexus) paid for full service + health check just to get the 1 year warranty for the battery. Car passed on the test and yesterday I saw the message on my dashboard about the cooling parts… went to the dealership and they ask for €170,00 just for diagnostic + the hours of work it would be more than €300 just to clean and reset the code 😂 I did by myself and cleaned the code disconnecting the 12v battery. My filter was super dirty, they never checked that when I did the service. I also just removed 3 clips from the side like someone comment on the other video, thanks a million again better use this money to buy new rims 😂😂😂

That is is300h so same as IS300 but with a 2.5l hybrid engine

Did it not clear by itself? Maybe try disconnecting the 12v battery for 5min and then reconnecting it again

Hey bud, Im looking to buy a 2013 ES300h. Im sure Ill have to do this. the car has high miles but i know theyre great cars. How many miles are on yours and has it been a good car so far?
