I like to believe that animal rights activists just want to decrease suffering for animals. Their primary target is the mass exploitation of animals (like in the food industry). Although this video is graphic, the animals are already dead and were probably not confined to cages their entire lives. Would this still be considered morally wrong? By many, yes. But it is nothing compared to the amount of animals we farm and use on a daily basis. Lots of people don't even consider the suffering of animals whose products they consume. I think most vegans would rather have you go out and kill with your own two hands than buy something off the shelves.

@@schplorgus8140 But the problem is the more we believe animal suffering is fundamentally wrong the more vulnerable as a society we become to it. Some people even started considering killing an animal as equal or even worse than killing a man. What will come next? People are currently raging over hunting videos, soon you will not be allowed to milk a cow. My advice is to embrace animal suffering as a normal part of our world, but try to lower its amount.

The nodules you break out with the tong at 6:40 are each called "Bulla Ossa" (or just the two "bullae" in plural), that is the hearing capsules, where the inner ear is located (cochlea to hear and labyrinth for balance); in some animals, these bullae are diagnostic.

It depends on how strong the peroxide mixture and the size / age of the skull. As a rule I use 10 min of boil for a really strong to straight peroxide mix. At low percentage peroxide or 50 percent water or more 15 to 30 min. Hope this helps.

I want to thank you very much. I have been doing taxidermy since 1985 as a hobbyist. I have boiled numerous skulls more than I can count, your methods will simplify what takes me hours. I do have a suggestion that I have found that will remove the meat off of the skulls as well as the fat. I do not know if you have tried this or not, is to use in the first boil baking soda. I have found that it changes the PH and softens the meat to become gel like. Your process of power washing which I would have never thought of doing has shown me a way to speed up the process. Your video was very informative and even as a seasoned taxidermist you have opened new doors of giving a better quality product to my customers. This is very helpful as I am full time with my shop now. Thank you.

Great educational videos, and all of your videos are well done. I’m a taxidermist and I rebuild broken tine and color antlers. I prefer water based antler paint instead of mini wax wood stain to touch up antlers. It has a matte finish vs a gloss or shine you get with a wood stain. One once of char brown or raw umber color would work for your needs. Apply the same way as you do with the wood stain. A few drops diluted with water goes a long way. Apply multiple coats to achieve desired color or dilute more with water to lighted. You can purchase from McKenzie taxidermy supply.

Does this work on human skulls? My chest freezer is getting full.
@huriale1617

Most likely, we ended up with a similar situation during the colonization of Algeria by France. Apparently, several French soldiers took with them the heads of the beheaded natives. The heads are still in several French museums, despite petitions wishing to give a dignified burial from Algerian historians, or even to return the remains to the descendants if they exist. What I understand given the very recent origin of these skulls (XIX-XXth century), which do not teach us much unlike older bones.

@@huriale1617 "Hey we did this bad thing a long time ago. But we are more civilized now." "Cool, so can we have those body parts back you guys stole since they were human beings and deserve some dignity?" "Nope." We're just cavemen with cell phones and thermonuclear weapons.

I slow cook fleshed heads in water and baking soda. The basic solution causes cartilage to become more and more gelatinous. It CAN cause bone ligaments to loosen to the point of falling apart so you gotta check in on it. Peroxide and water and heat for whitening.

I did a deer head folling your directions except I soaked this one in peroxide for three days instead of boiling it for fear I would bleach the antler to much. But either way, it came out great. Used the Mop n Glow to seal everything and super glued the teeth in and put it on a plaque and it was ready for the customer. Thanks for sharing all the good advice. Been doing deer processing for some time now so I thought this would be a good after season income. We'll see how it goes. Hog head next! Lol

if you go too deep with the knife, could you ruin the skull by slicing into the bone?

WHITEBONE CREATIONS HUNTING I’ve got 2 big beaver skulls and a raccoon skull. My concern being a first timer is the teeth. My boss told me I had to glue the teeth back, this is after they’re are pulled though? And this is about flesh locked in under the tooth. After seeing you mention the tusks it seemed to relate to the beaver teeth. Thanks in advance. Your video was great.
