Wow! Thank you, thank you! I just watched a 20 minute video about how to clean an ice maker without the self cleaning mode.. unbelievable! But I did buy Frigidaire with self cleaning! Lemon? Lemon you say? Is bottled ok? That sounds wonderful. Easy.worry free. Healthy even. I look forward to years and years of fresh clean ice. Oh, the first time I used my ice maker, I used bottled water…and bought a Brita filter…no tap water for me! And I am sure that better water helps keep my machine in better condition! Oh, and did I thank you enough? Time for a wonderful cold brew 🧊iced coffee! Gladys 🇨🇦Toronto, Canada🇨🇦
It depends. We don't use this everyday but more for parties at our house or when we go camping. Because it sits in-between those events, a few times a year. If there is any markings on the walls inside, we will do it.
They say do it every 2 months. Also kcup kreug clean every 2 months .. so I say that's like the average for cleaning maker machines.. and that they say is for if u use the items fairly daily
Found the instruction manual online. Though it's for the black finish model, the rest is the same: manuals.nostalgiaproducts.com/manuals/igloo/ICEB26HNBK_DL_TRI_IM_BW.pdf
I love my ice maker. The water at the camp isn’t good. So I bring gallon of purified BERKEY water. The only con is if you need to empty the basket the ice is so damp the ice freezers together.
Thanks I just bought it! I was wondering about the clean cycle and you answered all my questions in a nutshell! Any cons so far? Please share. Awesome review! Thanks again!
The only con is that we have too much ice. It honestly makes it so fast. We haven't tried it in the summer yet, obviously, but I think that could slow down the "make time"
How do you get the mold off inside how do you get the tray out to clean mold from from the tray ive had it like 3 years didnt notice mold back there the things a dream ice anytime I dont have a clean button so ill do the vinegar thing but I'd like to wash inside can you get that tray out this is making it stick the pusher is having trouble i never thought of mold its dirty in there please help
Take a pipe cleaner to get in back of tray were pusher is thats how I do it then rinse alot let vinegar go thru cycle 3 times then make ice three times you got it whoever made this didnt make it easy to clean or where parts can come out to clean but vinegar works
Good luck, I have owned about 5 of these machines now. The last one, I broke because I was trying to clean the white tray under the metal ice utters. I pushed on the tray trying to clean it and now its stuck in place and won't move. I had to throw the whole ice machine out. Its virtually impossible to clean this white tray. I have had orange mold and other molds get on it, and I have actually gotten sick from it because at the time I didnt know I had to clean all the way in the back of that white tray. it was SO nasty. Im not sure if I will ever get another one.
@@heatherh.8746 that sucks!! I've been using a reuseable straw cleaner and a kids toothbrush to get in there and run 2 cycles as described in the video w vinegar. Right now, machine stopped working but not sure why. About how long did your machines last? I'm on yr 2 and getting annoyed that its not working
I just run the machine in the clean cycle again with new clean water. Drain the water and repeat. The second clean cycle gets the last of the soap out. I’ve learned this from trial and error when cleaning my machine.
I have a different brand and all the water came out from the bottom, even though it was plugged closed. What can I do? All the water went all over the counter! I just bought this. Please help?! Improvements 40 lb. Square Ice Maker w/Self-Clean Transparent Window
I do sometimes see little gray specs - assuming it's the start of mold. I would try putting a little bleach on it to clean - just make sure you flush it really well after.
There are a few videos that will show you its usually a problem with one of the momentary contact switches inside the body of the unit. You have to remove the metal cover to get to them . May be out of alignment or bad switch. It takes the unit from freeze to quick thaw by pumping warm/hot gas back into the unit it's a $1.50 switch to replace it. You can get one from any electronics parts car parts place just be sure to get same Voltage and Amp if it is a bad or broken switch. While it's apart go ahead and pull off the pump and clean it up things like hair, plastic chips often over time gets sucked into and can slow down the water pressure even burn out damage the pump. Also wear leather gloves during the disassembly reassembly process the metal has very sharp edges and will cut your fingertips so watch out and check ice-maker repair videos on RU-vid by brand but they are all the same on the inside of the unit . I hope this helps you out .ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YGrqK2T5Dj8.html
What i do is get a spray bottle i can adjust to make it spray hard where i aim it. You know. Unscrew the top. You'll see where you need to spray. Then all of what's in the video and I wash and rinse it probably more than necessary.
No!!! Just add bleach to the water, about 1/2 cup & cycle it through several times by turning the machine on & off listen to it, it will start running water through all the parts in the back. You don’t need to take it apart. If your machine has the cleaning cycle it does the same thing, just hold the on button down til it starts cycling.
Honestly, we haven't cleaned it out very often. We don't have a lot of hands going in it, but I would recommend that if you are allowing people to use it at a party as the place to get ice from you clean it after each use then. If you are just transferring, it would take less cleaning.
