You'd think that cleaning a window would be as simple as it gets, but here I am, looking for a quick guide to it and your tips definitely helped. Cheers mate.
Exactly what I was going to say :) just got a wiper and applicator from Screwfix and was stupidly using the applicator to wipe off the water as thought I'd seen them doing that but its been a while since I've seen a window cleaner do their work. So appeared I was wrong :)
So Incredibly awesome. I work in housekeeping in a nursing home and no one enjoys washing the windows except for me. Never saw a professional technique and was just winging it. I can't wait to do more windows the proper way. I want to go out and practice but 37 degree weather is keeping me inside.
Brilliant tutorial! I only went on RU-vid to know what the tools were called, so I can order them and clean my shop windows and now I know exactly how to clean them too! Thankyou 😀
As a new homeowner this was very helpful. Thank you for sharing this information, I never thought I'd say this when I was younger, but I can't wait to clean my windows!! Greetings from across the pond.
Thanks for the tutorial. I’ve just bought a house with a receipt for double glazing that was installed 4 years ago. Haven’t been cleaned since. I was getting pretty close with my technique, but you’ve just shown me the missing piece of the puzzle. I was doing straight down individual lines with the squeegee. Cleaning windows was always my least favoured part of cleaning. Not anymore. Cheers for that.
Very helpful indeed. I'm a self employed domestic cleaner and I clean inside windows and shower screens. I shall do it the way you have. As squirting bottles with a rag just doesn't work causes smears. I shall be doing them just like this now. Thank you.
Angel Hernandez yes I was offered the job but due to the Coronavirus lockdown I was unable to start so hopefully the job will still be available when the lockdown is finished
Thanks for the tip to leave no streaks. I cleaned windows on a builders final clean. They used two people one on the inside and one on the outside so that if a mark wouldn't come off you could tap the spot the window and alert the other person to see if it was on the other side. lovely to watch.
All I have to say is your tip on using Unger Rub Out for cleaning white window frames is Amazing! I bought it and it works just like you said in your video! I did a demo for a customer and their eyes instantly were wide open...lol...booked another job..Thanks so much for the Pro-tip.
Love your accent! Was looking for a good tutorial on how to best clean my own houses windows and how to properly squeegee one, great video very informative. Great unintentional ASMR too, you had me incredibly relaxed by the end ha ha! Thanks from across the pond!
Thanks for the tips, have a few people looking for me to clean there windows, your info will help a great deal, bought myself a unger washer and squeegie, and ordered a scrim cloth online so hopefully I'll be sorted
After 4 years of using water fed pole only, today I did the lower part of the houses traditionally... I actually forgot how absolutely pleasurable it is to work with a squeegee. Thanks for the upload mate!
Great video, the only thing I do different, is that I use a brush on the frames and ledges to remove cob webs etc, and then l clean the frames and ledges. It helps to keep my cloths and water clean.👍
This is amazing, thank you! 🙏🏻 I have been wanting to learn how to do it like a professional for my interior windows and cottage cleaning jobs. Windolene and glass cleaning spray take so long and spray is a nightmare with streaks if you’ve forgotten to hot wash your cloth!!
I’m so glad I saw this, thanks for this video !! Just did my first residential job the other day and kept on being frustrated leaving behind streaks this is gold!!!!
@@semeregirmay959 design an a5 flyer with your business name and number, go out with a clipboard and canvas 2 hours each night, not in the day time nobody is in, be sure you keep a distance from the door with covid19. Ask them if they require a window cleaner. You may find some days you wont get any and some days you might get 10. Also create a Facebook page about your business and add that to your flyer. Canvassing is the only way to get work quick. With leaflet drops you are relying on potential customers calling you and if life has taught me anything it's that some people are lazy and stupid. Speaking face to face at the door is the best. I did all this 20 years ago and earn £600-900 a week. More in Summer. Make sure you price houses up correctly. Minimum charge for any house for me in north west is £10. Take into account how awkward the house is to clean like slanted roofs, cars in the way, garage etc. Increase the price if the house has a conservatory etc. Hope this helps. Also if you're inexperienced with ladders, clean your own home a few times a week to get used to it. Cleaning neighbours houses is a good starting point too, they may recommend you to family members and it starts a snowball effect.
@@quench1234 if they wanted it doing every time then you can charge them the same as the windows. Example £10 for there windows, another £10 for the pvc. £20 total. The first time you clean pvc it will take a while but after that you can just keep them tidy each time you visit and it's an easy £20. If your customer just wants windows cleaning but ask you as a one off to clean the pvc then charge a good price because it takes ages and you have to clean all the facia boards at the top of the house. I did one few weeks ago I charged her £150. The house looked like new when i has finished.
@David Andrew on my round I call every 3 weeks (21 days). a A handful of customers think that's too frequent so I call to them every 6 weeks. Some window cleaners call once a month but the trouble with that is you need more customers.
Great video. Personally I always do cloth after cleaning. You can clean like 4/5 windows in under a minute then just take a cloth and wipe it all down, much faster in my opinion. Also here in France, hardly anyone has white window frames he he :D
I never see people detail 1st "except me", I have always done it that way, my brother does it at the end. We have both been self employed window cleaners since 1980, we dont work together but the odd time we help each other out and its weird to watch someone do things different lol. Dad was a window cleaner as well, he just scrimed everything lol
Nicely explained pal..broke my nuts today cleaning windows in 25° heat conservatory and gutters just with newspaper and glass cleaner and buff windows with an course rag. U made it look easy and like you said get the technic down and speed will come.. as I had to keep going back for odd streak doing me nut in so took longer then I expected as I was trying to do it fast..job was a good one In The end.. I subscribed nice one 👍
The 'detail' about the scrim angle alone worth watching for. My issue is the top window cleaning but will have to get a tall ladder for that. The other window above a flat roof will need climbing onto or hang out and clean all top windows
thank you for this excellent tutorial I learnt a lot of tips about technique in just a few short minutes . Definitely going to get a small squeegee for them pesky fanlights for starters
Brilliant job. I wish the window cleaners (or window dirtiers as I called them) I used to employ were as good and particular as you. Maybe they would still be cleaning my windows!
I clean houses part time and I realize a squeegy will make things easier and it sure does now all I need is better squeegy set. Great information Im ready to clean windows I actually enjoy cleaning windows.
Holy shit dude thank you for telling me why the line of water runs off the top of the squeegee, literally watched like 15 videos and no one ever mentioned it. Thought for awhile it was because I was have the squeegee travel downward when I was making my way to the side but this makes more sense.
Sorry if I missed it, but can you share what you use for your cleaning solution? Thanks! Loved your video and appreciate you sharing your knowledge with us all. :)
I'm currently working full-time as a window fitter Mon-Fri, I'm so driven to earn as much money as possible and become as successful as I can. I'm trying to think of a little side hustle I could do on the weekends to earn a little extra money Do you think it's realistic that my friend and I could start a window/fascia cleaning weekend business? I have no idea how the business works, how to gain customers, how it'll work just doing saturdays, how much to quote etc. Just hoping you could give some advice.
Thanks for this! Just starting out my main line is pressure washing but also offer windows, that was the areathat worried me. Bit after this vid feeling a bit more confident. Cheers
Can I ask how do you go about pricing a job?? I know that different areas of the country would be different etc ... but how do you work out a price by window house etc???
