I have tried many different pigments and paint to try to get my concrete vessels black.... I came across this carbon black pigment on Amazon and I fell in love! This carbon black pigment colors my concrete vessels so well in a nice deep black color! I would highly recommend this pigment - link below!

I also use the Amazon molds and learned a tip from one of my cement groups.....cut off bottom lip with a craft knife (or sharp scissors), it's been a game changer and a cuticle saver! Does not effect the stability at all. You have taught me so much, I thought I would share. Thanks again for another great video!

Hey Kayla! I must say this is my favorite candle-making channel! Also, I notice you always use Minwax Polycrylic Protective Finish to seal your concrete vessels...while many RU-vidrs have jumped on the bandwagon using Earth Safe Sealer, you haven't. I tried Earth Safe and I was not impressed with it, at all. It dries sticky and it doesn't perform as well as I was led to believe. I will be using the Minwax Polycrylic Protective Finish from now on. Thanks for staying true to your craft.

Thanks for this video. Do you have a product to make cement all a bright white for candle vessels? As with any pigment I have added I always end up with various shades of grey since the concrete is a grey base

New to your channel. Been pouring in glass for a year now. Got some molds from a Chandler de-stashing her business. Can't wait to try this. I want a black with greyish white smoke pattern at the bottom. If you've taught this already please tag me in comments. Thanks for the info.

Hello, thank you for making such great videos! My question is my black all of a sudden are coming out "modeled" and more grey than black even though I don't think I have changed anything. I did use the recommended pigment you are using, can you think of anything that might be causing this all of a sudden. Thank you, Felecia

I am very interested in knowing if u were to make your cup the normal color the cement you use comes,,,what would happen with that particular black pigment if u just added water to it and sprayed or brushed it on the normal color cement cup that is dry and setup,,,,my very interested question is would u be able to get a consistent black look like your cup that u added color to the actual cement mix like in your video before hand??could u produce the same looking results? I'm really curious,,,basically make your cup without the color and then mix alittle water with the pigment in a spray bottle and spray the cup and let the watered down pigment dry,,could you produce the "same looking" results?
@WizeOwlCandles
@WizeOwlCandles 2 года назад
I haven't tried spraying it or brushing it on. For me efficiency is key so I feel mixing it into the concrete is the best way :)

It looks like my friend's long awaited headstone might arrive before Memorial Day. The die is black granite along with the vase and the top inch of the base. The bottom portion is grey. I think using black concrete will be more appealing than the standard light grey. To be able to afford this, my husband and I are setting it ourselves. Which means that we have to pour a 3" deep footer. I think using black concrete is the way to go. However, Amazon seems to be out of the 1 lb bag, or however much it was. I didn't see exactly how much it weighed. They do still have the 5 lbs bag but we definitely don't need that. I found a listing on ebay for 2 oz for a total of $12. Is that a good price? I saw that you added 2 heaping teaspoons to your bowl. Can you give me any idea of how much I would add to a slab that will be about 24" x 10", 3" to 4" deep. Sorry so many questions 🙃
@WizeOwlCandles
@WizeOwlCandles 2 года назад
Hi! I am not sure exactly how much you would need as I have never made a headstone before. This is a very cool idea though! I will say the pigment I used goes a long way. I believe in the description of the listing on Amazon it goes over how much you would need for certain projects. The spoon I used was only 1/4 teaspoon so it does go a long way. Im sorry I wish I could be more helpful!

How did the headstone turn out?
@deanna777
@deanna777 2 года назад
@@queenofsheba357 it just arrived this week. We will be setting it Saturday. When the dude from the cemetery called my husband yesterday to let him know that they had set the flags for the stone placement, he told him that we didn't need to do all that we had planned. He told him to dig a few inches down, pour a bag of concrete in dry. He said not to even add water. It will pull the needed moisture from the ground. We then will replace a thin layer of dirt and sit the stone on top. So no need to even make a wooden form to square off the concrete. It won't be seen. It will be so much easier than anticipated. Although I do think the black concrete could've looked nice, in someone else's more experienced hands. I was really worried about messing it up! It was very kind of you to ask Thank you so much. ❤️

I have the same mould as you and had it for a few months now but my cement pots are coming out more oval-shaped then circle is there something you can suggest for my moulds to keep the shape perfect??? I know your long mould you use has a shape stand I think, do they have one for my pots???
@WizeOwlCandles

They don't have the stand but I always make sure to "drop" the mold on the table a bit to allow it to go back to the normal shape after tapping the sides. I hope that helps :)
