That's awesome....I'm making a large figure i got from 3dlabs and it has water effects and magic circle effects over the character. Do you know if you can get various color saturation. I'm hoping to have darker color for the water on the base, and very light blue for the magic rings over the character.
@krupert8355
@krupert8355 Год назад
I know this is late but an option is if you tint the actual resin, you can then change the darkness/lightness of the resin by changing the thickness of parts on a hollow print.

Can you told me if you can dye grey resin too?
@cdrysdale1969
@cdrysdale1969 2 года назад
Everything i find is to add to resin before. Not for dipping like this video. Dye either sits on top of water or when mixed, doesn't color the piece. Probably end up pouring resin and adding coloring dye then dipping print into the colored resin?

It seemed like a great idea! I tried to buy the same pigments and use the process shown, but unfortunately I didn't get the same result! It turns out to be all in small spots unfortunately .. I hoped so much! 😢

Hello friend, I tried your method of dyeing the resin and I was really surprised by the result, I send you a big greeting from Argentina, I add that if you send it glossy lacquer it will remain one hundred percent crystalline

I love this idea. Tried it by the drop of tint just stays in droplet form and falls to the bottom of the water dish. It doesnt disperse like yours did. What do I have wrong? TY

Would this work on clear plastic? Like the Nolzors Miniatures by Wizkids for Dungeons and Dragons. Im painting an Emerald Dragon which comes as clean clear plastic, but its meant to be a rich clear emerald
@KnightofElElyon
@KnightofElElyon 9 месяцев назад
This does not work on clear plastic, I tried to do something similar to a styrene plastic kit with the clear parts., the color does not stick and wipes off if handled. It would need to be clear coated.

I find impossible to tint solid colors on resin. I only find tutorials for transparent ones. I already tried the best pigments and only got a "creamy looking" pastel color in the end. ;( I need solid basic colors like orange, red, etc. Can't find how. :(

Maybe try spraying layer of primer first. You can also spray darker primer low and white primer over top to highlight like a natural sunlight. Makes shadows pop.

Hello there Bruce. Not sure what that would be? But the closest I can guess is simply a type of resin colour. (It has to be a clear tint) I do believe that Elegoo, Anycubic and Creality have something similar in there online stores😉 Happy hunting Sir👍🏼 Have a good one, cheers

For anyone who tries this but the dye just floats in droplets on the water's surface, I think it's just a matter of getting a lucky batch. I tried a few different scenarios with no success, bought another set of dyes and it reacted to water just like in the video.

Ok so I tried this and not sure what I'm doing wrong but the results are not even close to yours. Paid 40 dollars to get some glass cast resin tint from Easy Compsites in UK I'm in USA and could not find them anywhere else. I put a few drops in a room temp water.. dye floats on top. I drop in my resin cast pull it out and hardly anything sticks to it.. the dye just floats around and clings to the sides of the bowl.

Ok update to if anyone else has the same issue as me. I ended up just ditching the water and painted the dye on with a brush. Although probably not idea it worked good enough for me with close to the same effects as PropsNstuff.
