Dude thank you so much. Been playing this game since the original ps2 days, and today was the first time ever getting this sigil and fully powering this weapon.
WOW. 20 years later, and I finally have a Saturn Sigil in my possession thanks to you and this video. I found it easiest when I did some practice runs memorizing the coloring of the ground I had to walk on, and which walls to "hug" as I passed through. The safe route almost follows the brightest parts of the path, I noticed. It took me "only" 4 tries each for the first and second parts, and now I daresay it feels easy, haha. Thanks so much for this video! (And now off to the dreaded chocobo race for the sun sigil 😅)
I'm maybe too used to modern games but I hate this minigame because I feel like the major difficulty come from the technological limit of the game. I didn't see anything, it's hard to tell exactly where the butterfly are, if you have to zigzag or stick to the wall... The video is really useful, thanks a lot
I don't think it has anything to do with technical limitations, this quest could certainly have worked in other games of the era. It's just that FFX's bad camera angle coupled with jerky 'analog' movement really made it much harder than it should have been.
It took many attempts to do this as there was a red butterfly hidden by the shadows so i couldn't see it, and sometimes i'd go through a blue butterfly but it wouldn't count. I feel like all these problems could be mitigated by ether better lighting or free camera control. Ether way your video did help massively and I finally got it.
Thank you for creating a very helpful , Illustrated drawing and where each butterfly of blue is located, never realized that most blue butterflies hug the wall..Good Job!
Did it! After many attempts, and plenty of un-yielding rage. I've never been so angry to have accomplished something in a game. I'm not touching lightning or chocobos. That's where I draw the line!
@@Soldier1stClass Do you have any suggestions for passing the lightning mini game on the new TVs? I passed that game easily until I upgraded to a new TV. I even pulled out my PS2 to make sure it wasn't my controllers. Nope. Couldn't dodge any more on the PS2, so it's the TV.
Yes, I agree with W.D., this one was a cake walk compared to that damned chocobo crap. Though... it was probably so easy because your guide gave me all the paths lol. Thanks again sir.
Keinlieb no problem buddy haha. Glad I could be of help again. I’m sure you can tell from my old channel that the quality has vastly improved between the two channels. I’m glad I decided to make a comeback. The Moff_Man channel you commented on for the chocobo race is also me haha
I know this is super old, but thank you for posting. As a 32 year old, I am playing through this game again and working on 100%. This helped me get my Spirit Lance!
Thankyou! I was struggling with this so much. For some one who is colour blind this was really tough, plus I just struggle to see what side of the path the butterflies are even on. Being able to stop every few seconds and just double check which path I am meant to be taking was a huge help. Managed to do it with 1 fight and still had about 1s to spare.
I'm exactly the same! Being colour blind I wrote this off as impossible and while I still haven't succeeded yet, I'm definitely doing better thanks to this awesome guy's guides :D
Bro honestly i came back to this game after 20 years of not playing it and your videos helped me do all the shit i was never able to achieve other wise. Stay on your grind and keep up the good vids
What's up brother! Another vid of yours helped me again finish another quest. The first one was the 200 lightning quest. Thanks again for the great vids! 💯👍
For those of you playing on the PC HD Remaster (unsure if this works on other systems), you can press pause during the beginning of the minigame (when Tidus reaches for a butterfly) to prevent the timer from starting for about 3 seconds or so. You can even run into a red butterfly during this delay and receive no penalty, as the timer has not started yet. I think spamming the pause button may help, but I'm not sure. Also, I believe that once you catch your first butterfly, the timer will automatically start. Hope that helps someone lol.
This helped a lot, thanks for putting this together. A tip for anyone still struggling: turn up the brightness all the way on your display if you can, helps a ton for seeing where the red butterflies actually are so you can zig zag better
Chocobo took me 2 days. I'm gonna try this one today. Lightning untried yet. I dunno if I can ever do another playthrough of this game due to these races.
The video helped me figure out how to be more consistent with the middle part on the second section. I was always triggering 1 or 2 butterflies there, but I dropped that down to 0 or 1, which is doable.
Awesome! I’m always happy to hear when my videos help people. It’s not just about the views. It actually brings me joy when people can continue to enjoy the games they love without feeling stuck or stressing over mechanics. Would love to add you to our community, The Ranks Of Soldier. Thanks for this! Playing on the switch so I was very close to the screen which I guess helps seeing the red butterflies, and your guide also helped. Managed to do it all in 30 mins. Now onto that chocobo race.....
After 10+ years, I finally got the darned Sigil today. This was the one sidequest I was never able to do in my prior runs of FFX. For me, the Chocobo race minigame was something I could handle but not this one. The perspective and camera change always threw me off every time even with a map at hand. I really appreciate you making this guide.
Man, you saved my ass. I came on here and vented Sunday because I was piiiiiiiiissed at this mini game. After putting the controller down for a few days I went back tonight and got pasted it, will FULL CREDIT going to your video. The last thing I need now is to finish upgrading Tidus' weapon. Which means I have to go back and try the stupid chocobo race (I gave up on that weeks ago). I'll be using your video as a guide. Thanks for this outstanding video!
Anytime man. I’m glad it helped you. That’s ultimately what I wanted to do with these guides because I know how frustrating they can be. Hope the chocobo race one helps.
Talking a break from trying to do the second part. Last time I was stuck (Chocobo Chaser) I took a break and watched your video and got it almost immediately after. Expect an excited comment in a few minutes!
Love your tutorials! These are so much easier than others. Thanks! Finally going to beat FFX after so many tries and stopping at Sin to get weapons etc.
Brother, started this game in 2001 and today I finally beat the butterfly challenge. After your guide it took me 10 minutes!!!! Amazing day!! Now on to the Damn bird race again. The scars are still fresh...... Thanks mate, you are a legend
3 years after you posted this, I used it to finally complete the butterfly thing. thank you for your map and the general path to take. I did, however, make that big mistake you said not to in that I took a few steps after getting the last butterfly in the first area and switched zones so i had to do it again. d'oh. thanks though.
I swear I have a completely different mini game. There was no blue butterfly upwards on the second path for me and all it gave me was an MP Up orb and an Ether. Did I do something wrong?
I had so much trouble with this 20 years ago but i just flew through it this time... I still cant believechow hard the catcher chocobo is though lol... Thanks for the help. Content is on point my guy.
Oh OK thanks for being super clear when you say, " I like to be on THIS SIDE of the map" fantastic way to begin a video... I love not knowing what a person is talking about
Thank you now I got the celestial weapon done for kimahri. Tidus and lulu left. I did it on my ps2 all while back but my ex husband he got rid of my ps2. Now my husband he gave me ffx and ffx2 on his ps4. I'm going to get all things back as I did on my old account. Thank you
Thanks for this video. I hate the minigame and am still stuck on it but I'm glad I see both, the path in the Japanese magazine, and you running through it. Glad you managed to make it through. I think Khimari will likely go Spirit Lance-less in my file, lol.
Playing remastered at the moment on xbox series x and this was perfect very well explained thank you will defo be watching more of your videos for help 👌🤙
Thank you man! Kept failing that second part due to never being able to tell whete the red ones actuwlly were. One thing I wanna mention is on section 2 I got 2 battles but still succeeded sontheres wiggle room with section 2 as well :)
Thanks so much for this! It's my first time bothering to get this sigil as I want to try evade-and-countering Dark Bahamut to death using Tidus, Wakka and Kimahri. This was a great help.
If you're doing this before you get the airship, you won't get the right items. But don't worry, it's not locked now. All you have to do is come back after you get the airship and try again. It's either after you get the airship, or after you get the cloudy/celestial mirror
This one is about memorizing the trail you make. The lightning game is doable, despite requiring concentration on buddha levels, if you use the crater glitch. But the chocobo race... That is the worst. There is no strategy whatsoever to beat it. It's pure luck. If everything is not perfectly lined up for you, the birds, the balloons, etc, you have no chance of winning. The lightning dodging and this one took me between 1 , 2 hours each. I got stuck in the chocobo race for days
Yo thank you so much for this. I managed to do it while hitting 3 reds on the first one and 2 on the second one but I got it thank god I can’t afford another tv atm I shot my last one with 16 rounds of 10 mm because of the damn trying to get a perfect score on the chocobo race I got to 0.6 on it and raged hardcore
I did the second part first. Zigzagging between the butterflies on the top right was painful! The first part is somewhat easy except the butterfly at the end is set right in front of the exit. I finished it twice and ran into the next area right as the screen flashed. This took me maybe 10-15 minutes.
I found my old ps2 copy so I've been playing it on my pc with an emu never managed to do this mini quest before, it took me a few attempts but I did it thank you
Silver lining, repeating this over and over and over is a great way to unlock Tidus's overdrives. Just set his overdrive mode to Slayer, use his AOE overdrives to clear the packs of 3, and he'll be halfway to the next charge if he wipes them all in one go.
Thank you, this helped so much! I was having a lot of trouble with the second larger map, I kept running into the groups of reds up top and even following the map didn't help. The slowed down video helped me figure out the path I needed to avoid them. Such a godsend, finally can get Kimahri's weapon!
@@Soldier1stClass I know! But I have no skill for that! >.< It'll certainly be easier with your help. Last time I just gave up 'cause I could never do more than 10 in a row...
@@firefly620 keep trying. If I can do it then anyone can. Once you get the rhythm of it on that one specific crater you should use then it’s really not that hard. I found that doing 10-20 dodges and then pausing for a couple minutes to rest really helped me.
@@nicoleshh been trying all week, I think I'm about to put the game back on the shelf. I never make it past 120, no matter how many tricks I try. I just wanted the platinum trophy :( this game makes me feel like a bad gamer
Trying to learn this mini game is ridiculously punishing. Being taken to the combat encounter and loot/AP screen is so jarring. Not to mention resetting the course and trying to even see where the damn butterflies are in relation to Tidus. Ugh. Thanks for the video. Idk how I got through this as a kid.
Those minigames gave me ether and a Mana Sphere what gives? Also in the second course there's no hidden butterfly at the beggining? Do I need a Key item or story progression?
This was actually the on hell quest I had left. I think thanks to this video I could get a better grasp of it though. Finally beat this stupid minigame after 10 years!
