Yeah don't uninstall edge just remove it from taskbar and desktop cuz it serves a major potential in windows as the core of Windows Search engine and sign in popups (WebView 2)

I tested it a few weeks ago, it should still work.

This video was made in Windows 11 23H2 and as you saw it, it worked completely fine. As for the webview thing, everything seems to work fine without it (for me at least).

@@ComeonWindowsIt seems like it was fixed recently, almost certainly due to Microsoft having to allow Edge removal in the EU. This script though still isn’t ideal since Windows Update will reinstall Edge at some point. Maybe you should also cover the other method of doing this?

meanwhile linux i can uninstall systemd without any trouble, sure the system will become unusable but it just lets me do it

​@@ss89_ytI agree that the news nonsense, which is just adware, is irritating. But you can very easily hide it and make the new tabs page clutter free. Edge has been very dependable for me, with extra nifty features.

I can confirm that since I use Edge as my main browser and it works better than Chrome.

Once you take the time to either disable stuff or "fix" stuff it's pretty good

@@noahhill8483 That's the problem, you shouldn't have to fix a browser to make it good. It should be 1. Install 2. Open 3. Use That's it. That's why Chrome is so popular still. It doesn't try to shove ads in your face the second you use it for the first time, and there is no AI copilot button taking up part of the toolbar, that most users will never use.

@@ss89_yt Is sleeping tab option available now in Chrome? I didn't know that. That's a lifesaver. And what do you mean when you say Microsoft doesn't obey the default browser setting? Links open in Edge even when you've set Chrome as default?

1. It's chromium, so it's crap but not a good browser (old edge was way better) 2. After the update edge will come back

Let me tell you why people don't use the microsoft crap. Because microsoft is so pushy with the PUA (edge) people get annoyed and don't do what daddy gates says, instead they opt for a insanely better browser, like chrome or firefox. People like you are the reason microsoft continues with this strategy, if you use edge, you are not helping the consumer you are helping Microsoft

When I tried it almost a year ago on a shittier specced machine on a fresh Windows 7 install, it ran like shit, especially when it came to RU-vid. Like, the UI was lagging severely, but when I tried it on a chromium based browser it ran FAR smoothly. And not to mention that FireF*cks consumes a fuck ton more RAM than both Chrome AND Edge!

people have been using it more because of the extension changes on chrome and betterfox
