How to connect CSL DD to PS5 using Drivehub from Collective Minds 

So we can use dual shock (ps4) in wired mode except hori mini-pad? Thank you for you video. I wanna try all this stuff but with logitech g923 xbox version

Hi man, unfortunately it's not listed on the website as being compatible with momo. They have been adding more products to be compatible so it may eventually be made compatible too. If you google "drivehub compatiblity" you can keep an eye out on what's compatible with the drivehub. Hope this helps bud 👊

You can use the Ds4 controller if you connect it by wire, but I'm not too sure about the DS5 controller. They have done a lot of updates to the firmware of the drivehub since I made this video, so I would be surprised if they didn't update it to support the DS5 controller

Yeh, I was. I'm not sure if you can get that wobble out by adjusting the settings and damper settings in the Fanatec control panel on a pc or laptop. You might be able to reduce it. I will say though, that I have the Fanatec Clubsport DD+ 15nm and I don't have that wobble on the straights

Hi, I don't have the drivehub anymore. I have the clubsport dd+ wheelbase, which works on PlayStation without the drivehub. If you check out the pinned comment by Porkertinker, he says it works with the dualshock 4 controller. It may well work with all dualshock controllers now connected with a wire. I can't confirm that though as I haven't tested it. I hope this helps

You hit the nail on the head there 🙂👌 you definately aren't getting the full csl dd experience when in csl Elite mode. It is still useable though. I think for anyone that mainly plays on ps5, they should wait for ps5 compatible version of the csl dd. For anyone that has the csl dd and might want to jump into the odd game on ps5, they can but just not with full csl dd luxuries 🙂👍

Hi, yeh drivehub will allow you to use your csl dd with PlayStation if you follow the tips in this video. You might be able to use any controller now (but at the time I made this video, you had to use a "Hori mini wired controller" to get it to work 👍

Hi pal, I need to do a bit more testing with it. I have the rev lights turned off in the Fanatec settings on PC as I don't really like them. I Find them distracting. I will see if I can get them working with the drive hub though. I am going to get my thrustmaster Handbrake and test it out as I don't want to have to undo all the cable tidying I did on my Fanatec Handbrake. I will find out and let you know though 🙂👊 You can't use the ps5 controller by plugging it into it unfortunately 😔 I tested that before I went ahead and got the Hori controller. I actually got an unlicensed wired ps4 controller before I got the Hori and it didn't work so I think it has to be an officially licensed wired controller 🤔 I'll check out those things you were asking and get back to you on it 🙂👊👍

Hey man, I just hooked up the thrustmaster Handbrake to the accessory port and it registers as the X button 🤨 That's not ideal as there is no progression. It is either on or off. I was using it as a Handbrake and it works but it is like having a button mapped as the Handbrake. The rev lights on the drive hub worked with every game I tested. GT sport, wreckfest, Dirt Rally 2.0 and Dirt 4. I was disappointed with the Handbrake situation and I am wondering if you have different pedals other than Fanatec that don't plug into the back of the CSL DD if you will run into problems 🤔 any questions on it that I can test out for You, I will. Just give me a shout 🙂👊

It did work with the Dualshock 4 controller. See the comment by "porkertinker" It could possibly work with the DS5 too. I don't use the drivehub anymore as I got the clubsport dd+ recently

No man, unfortunately not. The "Collective Minds: Drivehub" allows you to use the CSL DD with your ps4/ps5 consoles. The CSL DD was only designed to be used on PC/xbox You can get the GT DD Pro which you can use on PlayStation, xbox and PC straight out of the box but if you already have a csl dd and are looking to use it on your ps4/ps5, then this is definately an option for you. It is a CLS DD for PC and XBox(as long as you have an xbox compatible wheel) It doesn't work on the PlayStation unless you have the drivehub.

Hi bud. Unfortunately, I don't think you can because the ps4 controller communicates by Bluetooth even if you connect it by USB. I tried another unbranded wired ps4 controller and it didn't work. I decided to get the hori mini wired controller as that was what other recommended and it worked a charm 🙂👊

Hi man, the laptop will work just the same as a PC. As long as you have Internet. Just plug in your CSL DD into your laptop and it should recognise it. Go to Fanatec website and download the latest driver for the csl dd and it will install the Fanatec control panel to your laptop. I'm not sure if it automatically downloads the Fanatec control panel when you plug your wheel into your laptop or if you have to 1st the driver from Fanatecs website. Your wheel needs to be in PC mode (Red LED) Let me know how you get on 🙂👊

⁠@@footdownracing I’ve been trying to do this but when I download it on the fanatec website my laptop sees it as document that doesn’t give me an option to download. (I’m guessing maybe I’m not downloading the correct thing?)Also, when I plug my csl dd in, My Drivehub recognizes it(with the red LED) but nothing pops up on my laptop.

@@footdownracingyep. That’s the one I’ve been trying to download. Just tried it again. How can I get the fanatec control panel installed? My laptop just downloads the driver into a file and when I click it it brings up documents with the info of the update but no option to actually download.

Hi man, im nearly sure that the fanatec control panel is included in that file. Is there an 64 bit exe​ file? If you double click that, it should run an installer. I'm just going off the top of my head as I'm in work but I can check it out later when I get home. You may have to extract the files from the file you downloaded @melvinmirzakhanian6278

@@roostergeeracing6962 well if the wheel rim itself is xbox compatible, you should be grand without the drivehub. The ps5 needs the wheel base itself to be compatible but the compatibility chip for the xbox is in the wheel rim so you may not need the drivehub if the Mclaren wheel is xbox compatible 👍

It might depend on the wheel rim you are using and whether or not the game allows you to assign controls to individual buttons or whether it just does a wheel default layout

Hi pal. The T300 is compatible with PlayStation. You don't need the drivehub to use it with ps4. Unless you are using a different pedal set? There is a ps3/ps4 switch on the wheel base. If you want to connect it straight to the ps4, make sure it is set to ps4 before you plug it into the USB port on the ps4. I would have it plugged in before I turned on the ps4 also. If you need to use the drivehub, the switch might need to be set to ps3 not ps4. Can I ask why it is that you want to connect to the ps4 using the Drivehub?

Hi bud. I have just tested out a thrustmaster Handbrake I have for it. I hooked it up to the accessory port but it doesn't register as a Handbrake! It registers as the X button. That would be something to consider before you buy it! If you are mostly a Rally or drifting fan, where you need a Handbrake, then it's not ideal. It will work as a Handbrake but there is no progression. It is either on or off if you know what I mean. I didn't enter what wheel or pedals I have pal when I was buying it. I do have Fanatec pedals that plug into the back of the CSL DD though. I'm not sure if you have thrustmaster pedals whether they will work or not. Msg me if you have any more questions before you buy it bud 🙂👊

Hi man, are you getting any lag with just the ps5 compatible wheel attached? If you can't use Pedals, just map accelerator to a button on the wheel and see do you still get lag. If you do, then it may be the settings on your tv.

No, you need the wired Hori controller. I tried a different cheap wired controller and it didn't work. I know for a fact this one works so that the one I would recommend 🙂👊

Hi, I'm not still using it, but like you, I never had issues. The only issue I ever had was if I turned the ps5 on and then turned the wheel on. I always had to have the wheel turned on and in the right mode ready to go, with all the cables plugged into the drivehub and everything connected to the ps5. Once everything was ready to go, I had to then turn on the ps5, and everything was always fine with it. Hopefully, this sorts the issue you are having with it. Let me know if you are able to get sorted.

I’m sure you used to be able to hold options and share and change from Fanatec/fanalogic mode etc but now does nothing, I’m wondering if my hub is cooked

I'm not sure what the issue is, but I do remember trying to change from FanaLogic to Fanatec mode. I only got it to change once from the default fanalogic mode, but I got no FFB in Fabatec mode. I would leave it in the default Fanalogic mode. Sometimes there is beta drivers you can install that are more up to date than the latest update. Check out this video in the link below to download the latest Beta instead of the latest update. You might find that it works when you install the latest Beta instead. Hi man, I have the Fanatec clubsport V3 pedals plugged into the wheelbase along with the fanatec shifter and then you just need to plug the wheelbase into the drivehub. What equipment do you want to use with it?

I have never used the DD Pro so I don't know how it compares FFB wise but FFB seems to work as it should for me 🙂👍

I will have to set it up and use it again, but the buttons can't be mapped for gran turismo. I will try it again when I get the chance and keep you posted 👍

Yeh man, I have my V3 Pedals connected to wheel base, so I just need the single connection into the drivehub and that does the wheel, Pedals and shifter. It doesn't do the Handbrake though and if you connect the Handbrake to the accessory port on the drivehub it only seems to be either 100% on or 100% off. There is no progressive travel with the Handbrake. They may have fixed this with a firmware update. It was over a year ago since I tried the Handbrake with it. Hope this helps 👊

I was just about to test out my thrustmaster Handbrake in the accessory port and see if it works with the csl dd. I will let you know. I tried contacting them to see if the drivehub would work with the ps5 and I got no answer at all, so I said I would get it and test it myself. I will let you know if I have any luck with the Handbrake I think you should be able to plug the csl dd into the wheel port on the drivehub and then plug your T-LCM pedals into the accessory port🙂👊

Hi man, I did update the drivehub when I got it. I haven't updated it since but I don't get any lag at all. I think if you are getting lag it might be to do with your tv or monitor

You can try the ps5 controller. They might have the drivehub updated to work with the Ds5.

Hi man, I don't have an Xbox, so I can neither confirm nor deny it, but it does what it claims on PlayStation and it claims it does the same on Xbox, so I would be happy enough to take them at their word. CSL DD should work on Xbox straight out of the box as long as you have a compatible rim to attach. I'm not sure what you are trying to connect, but make sure to check the accessory compatibility page on the drivehub website to make sure it supports it. Hope this helps you out 🙂👊

Hi man, CSL Elite is not a direct drive wheel. I would hands down go with the Fanatec GT DD Pro if you are on ps5 and you can afford it. I haven't tried the 5nm, but I am like you and I like light ffb. The 8nm gives you more detail to the wheel without having to crank the ffb as high. The 5nm is probably plenty though. You can always upgrade to the 8nm in the future anyway. Hope this helps you out pal

@@footdownracing oh, sorry. I’ve been reading CSL elite dd, when it’s not elite, just CSL dd. Ok, so are you saying that the 8Nm is better at a lower forcefeedback, giving more detail, then the 5Nm would be, at the same lower, setting? If so, Is it a huge difference? Because the 5nm is €350 and the 8Nm is double at €700 that’s for gt dd wheelbase. And am I right in thinking that there isn’t a actual 8Nm version of the wheelbase, only a 5Nm with option to buy bigger battery, giving 8Nm? If that’s the case, maybe I’ll best to buy cheaper first and upgrade if I feel I need to.

@@grahamkelly8662 that is a big price difference alright. I think you will be fine with the 5nm. It is basically just the power lead that you plug into the wheel that gives it more power. The wheelbase itself is the same. The CSL DD is for PC and xbox only (but you can use it on ps5 using the drivehub). The GT DD Pro will work straight out of the box for the ps5 and it is basically the exact same as a CSL DD. I would definately go with the 5nm GT DD Pro if you are on ps5 🙂👍

@@footdownracing thanks for helping me decide and making it a bit easier. I just have a few concerns, that you may be able to help with. 1 I own Logitech g29 and I can’t get most games working . Like the car won’t turn properly and sometimes it’s absolutely undrivable . Constantly going left right left right, slide off track. People are saying that I should be able to use my g29 right away in any racing game and get a good experience, without having to do car setups and without messing with forcefeedback settings, turn sensitivity, brake sensitivity etc But only game that my wheel responds to perfectly and I can drive , is dirt 4. Dirt rally will only let me turn wheel about 1/4 of a turn. It’s doable but I can’t turn like I need to. I tried assetto Corsa car slides off track. No matter how hard I brake. Totally can’t drive. Dirt rally 2.0 cars wasn’t too bad but still couldn’t turn properly and crash. Sebastian rally won’t work. I tried driveclub because I loved it and thought it would be super fun and easy to control and I had shock of my life because I just slide out, every time I try and turn. This confuses me because I platinum it with controller and it’s arcade racer. How can I play dirt rally with only 1/4 turn of wheel, but I can not make a single turn in driveclub? For some strange reason, forcefeedback is always automatically set to 100% in game. I mess with settings and turn forcefeedback down and my games just won’t work. What do you think is wrong? 2 because of above problem, I’m so nervous and anxious about spending £1100-£1800 ish on Fanatec gear. In case I have same problems. I just want to play and enjoy my older racing games and I want to enjoy my new 1’s and it’s so frustrating that I can’t play them. Regarding Fanatec gear, I thought that if I plug into pc update firmware and driver that it would at least be playable, without having to mess with complicated settings but now I’m not sure that will be the case. There’s so many settings that I don’t understand and with sliders going from 0-150 i have no chance just guessing and doing a million possible combinations. Sorry for rambling on. I’m just really gutted that I can’t enjoy my new racing gear. I wouldn’t mind if it was a case of me being bad at game and getting better but it’s not that.

@@grahamkelly8662 I understand your concerns completely. I had the Thrustmaster T300 and I had similar problems when I was on console. Usually games have the ffb turned up way too high on default. Makes it impossible to turn the wheel. If you can try adjusting just a couple of settings in the ingame ffb settings and see does it make a difference: 1st one is overall FFB or FFB intensity. 2nd one is soft lock. Turn soft lock off. And when you go to drive a car make sure hands and wheel are displayed onscreen. Now turn your wheel to see if the hands onscreen match the movement of your own hands and wheel. If the wheel onscreen moves way more than you are turning, you will need to find a setting called "steering saturation". Turn this setting up until the wheel onscreen matches your hands. If the wheel and hands onscreen is barely moving when you rotate the wheel a lot, then you will need to lower the steering saturation setting. Try these few alterations on a game with your Logitech g29(not on assetto corsa) that games ffb is terrible on console! Let me know if this helps pal 🙂 👊

Hi pal. CSL DD works with xbox already as long as you have an xbox compatible wheel. You will need the drivehub adapter if you want to use it with ps5 though. The GT DD Pro works with ps5 without using the drivehub and it works with xbox too if you have xbox compatible wheel. Hope this helps you out 🙂👍

Hi man, did you make sure to connect everything up before turning on your PlayStation? and make sure the csl dd is in the yellow mode. And then turn on your ps5. Also, what controller are you using?

@@footdownracing thanks for the info. I had my ps5 already on before I plugged in my Drivehub so that could be the reason. (Currently using the hori controller as you showed in the vid.) I will try that. Also, one more thing. My ps shows on gt7 and f123 that the game recognises my dd as a g29 instead of a csl elite. Is there anyway I can change this? Is it something I have to tune on my wheel?

It shows as that on default. It's to do with the drivehub. You can change it but I'm not sure it makes the ffb any better. It could make it worse actually. You could search for how to put drivehub in fanatec mode and you will probably get info on it. I got the new clubsport DD + so I don't have the drivehub and csl dd hooked up anymore, so I can't even check it for you. I think it's easy enough to do if you do want to try and change it. Let me know if plugging everything in and turning on your wheel and making sure it is in compatibility mode (yellow), and then turning on the ps works for you. I think it should 🤔

Excellent 😃👊 I always left it in Logitech mode because it defaults to that every time. I did manage to change it to Fanatec mode once but the ffb didnt really work as well (if at all)...but they may have fixed that with updates to the drive hub since. Its up to you man. Check out the comment I have pinned. Starts with BIG THANK YOU TO PORKERTINKER...he said they updated it to include the ds4 controller. It may very well work with the ps5 controller now too. It might be no harm to hold off on getting the hori wired controller and trying it with ps4/ ps5 controller 1st

I was able to reduce the wobble to a minimum in the fanatec control panel on the PC but at the cost of detail in the force feedback. I wouldn't be the best at adjusting ffb settings so I'm sure they can be adjusted better while still maintaining decent ffb detail through the wheel. I might look at it in the future. I don't really play Gt Sport anymore. I mostly pop on Dirt Rally 2.0 on PC these days. I have to agree with you on the PS DD. I hope the wheel rim can be removed because it is too "toy like" for my taste. Hope this helps you out pal 🙂👊

No, I wasn't getting any issues at all. I didn't put too much time into it though in fairness. The only issue I had was when I connected a thrustmaster Handbrake to the accessory port. It registered the Handbrake as the X button for some reason. So there was no progression with the Handbrake. I would say just make sure you have all the latest drivers for everything, drivehub, wheel etc and see if that makes a difference 🙂👊👍

I don't have the dd1, but I thought that was compatible with Sony consoles straight out of the box. I could be wrong there 🤔

DD1 is natively ps-compatible, connect it to your ps directly

FFB settings in the Fanatec Control Panel in the PC need to be adjusted to suit each game you are playing on PlayStation but it works perfectly 🙂👍

@@DeejayJeanP Hi pal. I must have read that on a forum somewhere and took it as truth. That's my bad! It actually says somewhere on the Fanatec website(I can't find where it said it now) that it's called 'compatibility' mode, not 'csl Elite mode' as I was calling it. Fanatec say you don't lose any FFB using compatibility mode and that you can use on games that don't support the use of the wheel in PC mode. So to make a long story short you don't lose any FFB using compatibility mode. Sorry if I gave wrong info before. You can rest easy knowing you still get full power of ffb in this mode 🙂👊

I'm using fanatec pedals which just plug into the back of the csl dd. I'm not sure how a different brand pedal set would work. It would probably need to be connected to the "accessory" port

@@roadi7 I'm not sure the heusinkveld pedals are compatible with the drivehub. They have a list of compatible pedals and Handbrakes on their website. I would check that before going ahead and getting it. I'll have a look and see if I can send you a link 🙂👊

No man, this won't get you banned. All the drivehub does is create the handshake needed between the wheel and the ps5. The csl dd is basically the same as the gt dd pro but the handshake for the ps5 is built into the gt dd pro. You won't be at any more of an advantage over someone with the gt dd pro so there would be no grounds for being banned. Definately don't worry about that bud 👊

I updated it before I tried it out, so I'm not sure if it "needs" the firmware update. It is quick and easy to do.

I 100% agree to wait for the ps5 version of the csl dd. If you already have the csl dd and were wondering if there was a way to use it with your PlayStation as you don't want to get the PlayStation version aswel, then the drivehub is an option for you. But wait for the ps5 compitable version.

@@mosaicmonk4380 They are definately making a ps5 compatible version, so don't worry. They will have it available for GT7 release(which could be 2023 if previous GT releases are anything to go by) I used to be on console only but I recently got a PC and I haven't looked back. You can't beat PC for sim racing. The only thing you can't play really is Gran Tursismo
