How to connect MPP Solar Inverter to a Laptop or USB Port

First, install the latest WatchPower software following the link I have provided in my video description and see if it works. (software on product CD is usually outdated) Second, check if your Inverter is having Mini-USB port which is available in newer models. If so, just connect a "mini USB to USB" (mobile phone USB cable) and should work without a hassle. Otherwise, go to device manager and check if the new COM port is correctly configured without any driver error. If non-of above resolves your issue, then most probably, USB to RS232 connector is defective. You can check the cable by connecting a known RS232 (COM) device such as mouse.

Hi sir, after I have tried the new cable rj45 to rs232, there is no sign of connection to watch power, Latest Situation: com port functions well, just only when rj45 is connected to the hybrid inverter(only rj45 port available), the watch power cant detect anything. The Com port is not displayed in watch power software. I also try other latest vision watch power software still cannot.

1.Check RJ45 to RS232 cable by connecting it to a PC which has COM port. 2.Check RS232 to USB converter by connecting it to known, working device such as COM mouse. If above two are successful, then it should work!

Yes! Newer MPP Solar Inverters are coming with mini USB port which you can use to connect to Laptop using any mini-USB to USB connector cable and use WatchPower App. However, Older inverters do not have this mini-USB port and need the above method.

First , test your serial cables with a working serial device such as serial mouse . If it works , then check serial port settings and let me know the outcome

There is requirement to register the software. What is the error you are getting? Did you download the latest version from theirs website?

WatchPower software doesnt request login password . Admin password is "Administrator"
