Mate, I just discovered your channel and I'm digging your stuff. I like your focus on the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing side of skating. Definitely a topic that doesn't get discussed enough. I personally ride bikes and suffer from back spasms 2-3 times a year. Had herniated disc from biking when I was a teen. I understand you had 2 herniated discs. Did you need surgery? Are you 100% recovered and do you still get flare ups? Cheers. Btw, in your video intros I can tell by your accent that you're definitely a Brit, but during the video you sound Aussie for some reason. At first I thought it was 2 different dudes.😂😂

Trying to figure out how to apply this to fear due to injury. My brain will just say "nope" everytime I try to Ollie because I badly sprained my knee a while ago while leaning Ollies while riding. Well, my back foot doesn't like landing on the board, it's a mental block that won't go away. Anyway, I love your videos, thanks!

I would practice ollies while holding onto something, so you can really get it down before you try it rolling. I can ollie super high stationary, but its a completely different story when I'm moving, and the faster I'm going the more scared I am to commit, I can only ollie up a curb, no higher

Yeee those injury traumas are always the hardest to overcome, I sprained my ankle jumping down stairs and for such a long time couldn't get the image of a resprain out my head. I think Entheos' idea is really good, holding onto something seems like a really good regression, maybe you could progress to grass without holding on after that, if it's rolling that messes with you. Whatever you try, the key is definitely going to be progressing slowly over time, and just being consistent. Figure out what's just on the edge of your comfort zone, that you feel willing to face now and go for that. Once that feels comfortable push into that newly expanded comfort zone and just keep repeating the process. If you don't do any resistance training, I would also highly recommend that for rebuilding confidence in your physical abilities. I've got some exercises on the channel or up on The Daily Push website. Hope that helps!

Mental blocks are the most fucked ones for me. When you dont even feel fear, your body is just like: Nope. Than I am at the point where I rather get hurt than keep being a pussy :D
@TheDailyPush
@TheDailyPush Год назад
Yeh dude 100% like you're just kicking out on autopilot. I also use the not wanting to be a pussy card to help me commit. I think for those cases practicing the trick you're trying on smaller spots, getting comfortable with it n then progressing is huge.
