excellent video elliot, i've been using this setup with some led battens I've made all good and working well. Has some issues with some dodgy cables as i have started to run some bits off 4 pin xlr to extend the distance from controller to element. The cable shorted the port and i wondered if you had issues with this. Is there a reset on the box? i wondered if a reset would reset the ports or if they're fried and ill have to open the box and have a nose about.. Just looking for some beta before i go ahead. thanks Graham

Did you install any protection over the power supplies? Physical protection to stop anybody touching the mains side? or fusing for the low voltage side?

Can it work with wifi and sync with other controller?

If you need several Universes you'll need to 'Go Blue' and pay for a Chamsys box or you'll be in demo mode (it's also where access to the more interesting bits is made easier). But hey, next on my list to earn is both pixel mapping and DMX LED tape so thanks bigly.

Hey Elliot, Thanks for the tutorial. I have a question. I have read your blog and the problems you have faced. Especially the problem with the fried output pins. I want to install 20 WS2815 Strips from 3.25M in a grid in a student pub. For us is it not possible to unplug the strips from the controller everyday. Do you know of this is a problem or not? I hope it will not be fried. Another question, we have a chamsys mini pc wing and we will patch the ws2815 on chamsys. Is it also possible to control the lights through audio with a Spi audio controller? Thanks Tom

Hi Elliot, Thanks for the great tutorial. I have some questions regarding the power supply, tapes and Chamsys control . I am thinking to use the WS2815 tape for my project and I was wondering is the process the same just to exchange the power supply to 12v. Changing the power supply with this controller is possible I presume as its rated 5v-24v is this correct? Also I am debating which waterproofing standard to use for the tapes as I may want to use the lights outdoors in a seperate application before I build the infinity mirrors. Have you used ip65 or ip67 tapes in any of your builds and if so what has been your experience. Mainly I would like to know if the waterproof case has affected the quality of the infinity effect or had any similar positive or negative outcomes? And finally do you know if it possible to control the Chamsys software with a generic DMX controller or is it strictly limited to a Chamsys own brand controller? My research suggests I am limited to just Chamsys own brand however maybe you know of a work around or if it is possible to map a generic controller? Many thanks in advance :)

Hello Just saw your video and I'm trying to patch my led strip but it's not coming on. I have my MagicQ connected to my Artnet still its not working My strip specifications Ic type: WS2811

any chance you have used an EZ Kling? i am using a different software (enttec led mapper) and an EZ Kling and have everything talking to each other but my lights dont seem to be getting the info because they are are not doing anything. any ideas?

Hey matey! Thanks for the vid. Watched it over and over. I'm installing 9x 5m RGB ws2812b in my recording studio. I'm a lampy, however first time installing LED strips. Power calculations are doing my nut! - If all 9x 5m strips (L Da Gr) going direct into the DMX controller box (with RGB @FULL) wouldn't this trip the 5A fuse inbuilt in the dmx box? (ws2812b manual says 1.5A power draw per 5m RGB strip) - If this is the case, it would make sense to bypass the L + Gr on the dmx box and hook up direct to the power units? - I am planning on getting 2x 300w power units. But I'm just unsure whether this DMX box can handle the load. What have I missed? Thanks!

Thanks for this, however, I bought all these components an I am getting nothing, tried the test but no LED light, only using one power supply, how can I tell what is not working, tried two strips, still nada so is it the the controller?

I'm really surprised this is still on RU-vid. It seems like videos like this are getting taken down left and right. I have a feeling that certain companies don't want this info available. The gatekeeping is real. So thank you for making this... Though I think your blog is offline. How would you do this with resolume instead of magicq. As far as I can tell there is zero reason to run magicq in this age of modern dmx solutions. Is that something you could help with our make a video on?
