Thank you very much! It really does go to show that knowledge is power.

Nice work! You MAY want/need/like going to a slightly larger mantle or smaller gas tip in your generator. Kerosene is denser in energy and can over-drive/overburn the mantles. I don't mean to insult your intelligence or experience here, but overburn is when you see a halo of flame outside the mantle. You can also just not pump it up as much, but that's a pain in the ass. Also play with air inlets by partially blocking/unblocking them until you find the "sweet spot" where they burn cleanest and brightest. These were engineered to run on fuels with specific energy content for the optimum fuel/air ratio and the mantles to burn it for maximum brightness. It's not a huge difference though and should run fine. You may not get as many hours of operation out of the generator before it needs cleaning, but that's pretty easy with a propane torch to burn off the crap that builds up in all GPAs. Hope this will be of some help to you. Have a super weekend.

Been trying to convert a rough 220k to kero. Preheated cup was easy, can't get but a small flame at the mantles. Remedies include using a 200a tip and losing off the easy start circuit.

I was told you can run these off of premium gas? Ever though of that due to how gas is cheaper then white gas or kerosene

Actually you want to use the LOWEST octane, ethanol free gas you can find. Fewer additives, burns hotter. Most people think premium, high octane gas is more volatile, but the reverse is true. It burns slower and is harder to ignite. This is what keeps engines from pre-igniting(knocking) under heavy loads and high speeds. That said, you CAN run them on just about anything flammable. Just learn how to clean your generators for reuse if the fuel you use creates deposits. Low octane, ethanol free gas works fine and creates very low levels of crud. Not QUITE as clean as white gas, but they'll run for months on it without serious issues.

Last I checked kerosene was 7$ a gallon

Yes and the white gas is almost $14 a gallon.

@@highlandhomestead2494 But low octane gasoline is $2something/gal. If you use them a LOT, go with that. If you don't, stick with white gas. If safety is the reason for kero, go with it. DON'T store them with any pump gasoline for long periods and never store them with ethanol gas in the tank. If you run ethanol gas, which will work just fine, get it all out and give it a rinse with white gas before storage. You can roll up a paper towel and shove it in the filler neck and set it in the sun for a few hours to wick out the last of it. Bottom line: they all will work, it's just a matter of what works best for you and how much extra you are willing to pay with either money or time.
