You are by far the best reviewer for this Grill. I am thinking about buying it now more than ever because of your video. All the other reviewers did not know how to operate the machine with common sense, how to cook a steak, what sides to add, or how to even present it at the end of the meal. You my friend did an excellent job thank you and I'm pretty sure I'm going to get this damn $1,300 Grill.

Looks fantastic. Russ while going to chef school I'm actually an accomplished broiler cook. This thing is just like the ones in the restaurants. A salamander is just a small version of the big boys. This does what it is supposed to do you can do some au gratin in them as well as kabobs and broiled fish. And seafood in general. We got catfish, Talapia or orange roughly. We lathered butter on the fish salted and peppered them floured them, shook it off added it to a grilling plate added lemon juice and a bit of water, not much. Then used steel rods over a flame to mark them. To look like grill marks. Then placed them under the broiler for a few min. The very best fish u will ever taste.
@SmokyRibsBBQ

Awesome! That is really interesting with the hot rods for grill marks! I plan on using this for many things.

It's really bad ass Greg! Your not going to believe the fire that jumps down on the steaks as soon as you slide them in. It was bright sunlight outside and could easily see the fire. I bet it would be super impressive late in the evening right before the sun sets. Looking forward to your video! I forgot all about showing the really well made cool apron they sent with it. Next time :)

Thanks David! I was wanting to test it out on a thick steak, so I had those cut at 1 1/2" just to see if I could get it to a good medium rare, without over browning or even burning the outer crust. I was very very happy with the results. Very cool product. Thanks for watching!

Smoky Ribs BBQ & Southern Cuisine True 1.5 all the way up to 2 inches is good by me for sure. A great cook nonetheless in my book. That thing is the ticket for steaks, no doubt. Oh, and Russ, I was watching your jambalaya rolls video from a while back and i am glad I did not have a mouthful of beer when i saw that "room-a-lawd" sauce comment. Russ, the fun just keeps coming. What a nice piece of equipment. Quality too. Sho have seen some nice thick juicy steaks on the channels lately. Getting lot of good ideas to try out on how to cook them besides how I've done it for 45 yrs. lol

Hey Phil! Man I'm really enjoying this new addition into my line of grills and smokers. It will have a permanent home near me anytime I'm doing a video. May not always have a use for it, but I think I will have a use for it more than not, lol. If you been cooking steaks the same way for 45 years, then I'm pretty certain your doing them right! That's about as long as I have been cooking them, but this was the first time ever cooking them with the fire above them. Really impressed with this! That's the way your famous high end restaurants cooks them, and I can see why. Doesn't take long at all, and the taste is amazing. Thanks for watching, I always appreciate it!

Russ, I could be wrong but I know you are not supposed to eat raw oysters in the months that don't have "R" in them. However, if you cook or grill them, then it shouldn't matter. That would be a great video for you with your kayak. How to harvest oysters the proper way!!
@SmokyRibsBBQ
@SmokyRibsBBQ 7 лет назад
Yeah, the water warms up so much around here in the Gulf, that they deem oysters unsafe to eat at certain times of the year during the warm months, and it's not legal to harvest them when the season is closed, so that will have to wait awhile, but would make for a good video. I remember fishing with my dad in the dead of winter for speckled trout, and I would snag a fresh oyster from time to time, and I would shuck it, and eat it right then and there. Man that was good oysters!

Also I understand I have made request in the past but can you please do something special for memorial day to honor are fallen warriors? perhaps a meal dedicated to them? P.S. stay safe my southern brother, things have been going pretty crazy all over the world so I would suggest you carry a fire arm with you. Your probably talking about a recent episode from Greg over at Ballistic BBQ. He recently got a Harvest Right freeze dryer. I may get one, one of these days. Thanks, I really appreciate it. It's not actually a band. A good friend of mine, Chad Parker, wrote the music, and also did the vocal track. Pat Lassiter on bass from Tracy Lawrence band, William Ellis on drums from Montgomery Gentry, and I can't remember the guitar players name, but he is from Gary Allen's band. I heard you mention oysters.... my wife and I had steamed oysters for the first time in march on a trip to Pawleys Island sc. ever since I've been wanting some! when they are in season where should I look to get fresh ousters? and what would be the best way to prepare them on a pit barrel? Thanks!

@SmokyRibsBBQ 7 лет назад
I don't know where you live, so I can't really tell you the best place to get them, but I'm sure locals that buy them can tell you where. I can get them from my local fish markets when in season. I personally would use a Weber kettle to charbroil the oysters with if you are using a grill. Check out my Oyster video I did last fall if you haven't already seen it. It will give you some ideas. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-A9xhFhabFQ8.html

How much does it cost to cook a steak just under the surface of the sun? I went to the link, but the price was in euros, I think. It looks like something every hillbilly (myself included) should eventually have if it is at all affordable.

They are pricey, but this isn't no cheap made product. Smaller version of what your high end restaurants are using. I think with shipping and all from Germany it's around $1,100

Looks like a bad ass little machine but I would not pay 900 Euros for it.

It really is a bad ass machine! A little pricey for sure, but built very well. German engineering at it's best. Thanks for watching!
